Is digital debarkation on every ship now?? We just cruised last summer and it was not a thing. Can someone give me a brief idea, please?
-
thank you both for responding. I will assume it is similar to what we know from Fantasy class, just with more people. Thanks!

hello. We are looking forward to sailing on Magic soon. We have typically sailed Fantasy class, with perhaps Conquest a while back. Can we still just line up to enjoy the comedy show? Or do we have to make reservations?? Can we still book our excursions once on the ship, or do they fill up more quickly because there are so many more people on board?? Are reservations required for the evening musical shows?? Just trying to prepare. Thanks in advance.

Thank you klfrodo and CDNPolar for taking the time to answer. I appreciate your perspective.
Thanks again & Happy Sailing

I, too, have previously (2023) purchased insurance through Costco, but purchased the cruise elsewhere. I believe I had to call Zurich to make the purchase.

hello. Do I roll the cost of airfare and the precruise hotel into the cost for insurance?? Or, just the cruise? What if I haven't gotten airfare yet? Do I guesstimate??? Thanks in advance.

On one of the older ships a couple years back our room was unreasonably warm. First, we thought it was because we were still in port.. then we thought it was because we had just come in from the hot. When we finally did contact the staff, they came in and measured the temp. The tech threw the thermometer on the bed. It must have been too warm because he walked over and opened the cabin door... Wait. I want the room to be comfortable with the door closed. They brought us a huge fan to use for the remainder of the trip and it did keep the room cooler, but it was not ideal. Of course, a good excuse to stay out of the room 😉

I had this problem last summer. I had to call them. And call them. And call them. It was exasperating but they finally took care of it.

It's been open kinda late the times I've been on a ship with one. Last month it was open till 10 or 11.
I wish it had been open later on our cruise. It looked like a nice, relaxed, casual dinner option, but, POOF! It was closed.

Thank you, everyone, for your insights. Lots of helpful information.

Hello. I have never cruised Holland America. I was wondering if Spring Break would have an impact on this line? More crowded? More kids? More COLLEGE drinkers? Thanks.

Thank you all for your most helpful insights. Much appreciated!!

Hello. I have only ever cruised on Carnival, and only during the busy summer months. I now have an opportunity to possibly cruise in the spring. I'm curious if it will be as busy as summer due to spring break?? AND, would spring break pretty much be mid March through end of April? AND, would a line without a kids program be less crowded during break time?
Thanks in advance.

- Hi. Returned from cruise on the Valor. I wanted to go on line and rate the excursions we took through the ship, but I can't figure out how to get there and rate it. Can anyone help?

It's not just Cruise Critic, it's forums in general, sans reddit. Forums were a big thing back in the 90's and '00s. I have administered many forums over the years and have seen them all fade away into antiquity. They are just becoming a thing of the past. Everything has moved to various social media outlets over the past 10'ish years.
I wish this forum was available on social media so I could view it with the cheap wifi plan on the ship.....

Oh, they only serve drinks with flavored candy straws now, which can melt before you are finished drinking the beverage.
They were candy??? I didn't like the way they felt in my mouth. In this case, no straw was better than this straw. Still, had a great cruise 😉
REGARDING NO SMOKING IN THE CABINS: huh??? multiple times the smell of marijuana drifted into our cabin from ??? no idea. but someone was smoking. makes me kind of nervous... can't they just buy gummies???

We investigated the late night fare on Valor last week. It was not Carnivals greatest success. The hot dogs had buns that were dry and burned. The pizza SAID Chicago style, but.... not really. I appreciate that they put something out for those times you need a snack, but I just was not interested.

Hello everyone. Just returned from a fun sail on the Valor to Cozumel and Progreso. Loved the cruise but I was surprised that there were no loyalty gifts. Last cruise, at the same level of Gold, we received a free drink on the last night and a bottle of water at the beginning of the trip. Did that fall by the wayside?? Certainly won't make or break the trip, just wondering. I wish this site was available on the Social plan. Thanks all!

thanks, everyone. I don't know how I missed the FAQ regarding it... thank you!

Wondering about this smile and go technology on Carnival. thoughts?? experiences? thank you

that is awful!! I am disappointed to hear that such a large, established airline had absolutely no regard for their paying customer.
Disembarking Question
in Carnival Cruise Lines

thank you so much for responding. We have cruised carnival many times and debarkation just gets worse and worse. Really, our only GOOD debark was when we booked an excursion at the end. Otherwise, it is just sit and wait, move a foot, wait some more, look for somewhere to sit, wait and then almost feel the crew pushing you off the boat. Really? I would have been happy to leave earlier....
Oh, well. Usually debark. is my only complaint so that's not too bad
