  1. @vplsh, that is great.  You are so right.  I had no idea just how expensive Amsterdam is and since we are getting a bit older, we want to fly business class.  This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for us, and we are so looking forward to it.  And since you will be there before us, I hope to hear some comments and see some photos.  Best wishes, and happy holidays!

  2. @vplsh, thanks to the wonderful posts from @kazuJacquie, we, too, booked our room at Banks Mansion for our September 2024 cruise.  When the website first opened their reservations for our dates, we had the choice of flexible pay later or pay now-non refundable.  We definitely chose the flexible pay later option.  We splurged and got a guest suite with canal view.  A couple weeks later, our friends decided to join us and the flexible option was not available on the website.  I, too, phoned Banks, and was able to negotiate the flexible rate for them.  And after an exhaustive search for weeks, Joan is absolutely right that other hotels' flexible rates for that area are not much different plus Banks is all-inclusive.  Only 275 more days till we arrive....

It can be an issue. That’s why I have two of the cords Twangster posted.

I LOVE the idea about the power cords, thanks for the info. My husband uses an Air Sense 11 and I use an Air Sense 10.  These longer power cords just make sense.  I have always contacted the Special Needs Department to request distilled water and extension cords for our CPAP's, but they say they will provide cords "if" they have any available.  I just looked at each of our machines and the current power cords each say 125V and 7 amps.  I don't know if it makes a difference, but these 15' cords say they are 125V and 7 amps.  Other lengths and brands have different amps.  I want to order exactly what my machine says.  I'm electronically challenged and I don't know if it would make a difference, but want to be safe.  Happy cruising!!

  4. I submitted an access desk form for distilled water for my cpap on 12/10/21 for our 9/6/22 NCL Joy Canada/New England cruise.    This is the response I received four days later.

"Thank you for contacting the Access Desk.  The information provided has been noted.  Be advised that we can provide distilled water on board.  There is no additional charge for the water.  The ship has been advised to provide you with distilled water for the machine for the duration of the cruise.  Please contact the Access Officer on board if there are any problems or you require additional water.  The Access Officer can be reached through the Front Desk.

We also recommend that the guest bring an extension cord at least 6ft. long, as the outlet are not close enough to the bed.  The extension cord may be confiscated from luggage to be examined for safety and if deemed safe, returned to the guest.  The ship only has a very small supply (available first come, first serve) and can be requested at the Guest Services Desk."

As a side note, I have purchased a new 10 ft. extension cord and am keeping it in the packaging sleeve and also purchase a "just water" package and feel fine if I had to use it in my cpap if necessary instead of tap water.  These days, it's always good to have a back-up plan.

  5. It would be fun to have a variety of dog/cat souvenirs onboard -- would love to be able to pick up a stuffed toy or a new collar/bandana/leash/food/water dishes or bling bling for my dog with the themed cruise. How many of us own pets? We always miss them when traveling and talk to other cruisers about our "babies." Think it would be a great idea. Even wish they had onboard lectures about nutrition/training etc. for our pets -- would certainly be different and I think a lot of folks would enjoy.

  6. We just returned from a 14-day exotic southern caribbean cruise on the Eclipse. We traveled with another couple, and while the husband was very nicely dressed with dress slacks, a long sleeved shirt and tie, he refused to pack a sport coat. The maitre d pulled him off to the side as soon as we entered the MDR and provided him with a jacket to wear. It was a little embarrassing but it worked out.

  7. SHIP: Silhouette

    CABIN #: 1146

    DECK #: Sky (Deck 10)

    CLASS: C-3

    AREA: Mid-Aft

    BED NEAR: Bath

    QUIET?: Very

    BALCONY VIEW: Perfect

    BALCONY SIZE: Regular size

    WIND A PROBLEM?: No

    SOOT A PROBLEM?: No

PROBLEMS/COMMENTS: This room was in a perfect, quiet location for us. We liked it so much that we have booked the same room for our upcoming Eclipse cruise in November 2013. Love the footrests that are provided in Concierge-class balcony chairs.

  8. For the November 30 Celebrity Eclipse cruise, I've been checking the ********** website for months, and it still shows that we will be docking at Crown Bay on December 11th. I called Celebrity about it, stating that when we first booked, it showed we would be tendered. Later, it said it would be docked. A nice young man put me on hold for a while, came back and said that it appears we will be docking at Havensight. Vinow still shows we are at Crown Bay. Wherever we dock, it looks like it will be a busy day in St. Thomas.

  9. Sounds like one heck of a deal. The food and service in these restaurants is impeccable. On the Silhouette, we so enjoyed having lunch at "The Porch." The views of the ocean while dining at the Tuscan Grille are beautiful -- the ambiance of the Murano -- what can I say -- unbelieveable. The champagne high tea at Murano is not to be missed! And Bistro on Five is a great place for breakfast, lunch or just a snack. We did not try the Lawn Club Grille and have regretted it ever since. But the most enjoyable part of any of these restaurants is avoiding the large crowds of people -- so worth the extra money.

I read this online -- at a cost of $203 pp, the “Ultimate Specialty Package,” which can only be purchased onboard, features unlimited dinners in specialty restaurants of guests’ choice, at least one specialty restaurant lunch, one admission to Champagne high tea, and unlimited breakfasts, lunches and dinners in Bistro on Five and, on Celebrity Reflection and Celebrity Silhouette, also at The Porch.
