  1. Yesterday I gave up and phoned C&A, and I was transferred to a department called "On-Board Dining" which I assume is in the corporate office.

I was told by a Supervisor in that department the reason I can't make reservations for Giovanni's, Isumi or Sabor online is that they aren't scheduled to open until the first sailing in March!

You have to consider another possibility is that the person you spoke with has no clue what they are talking about. Although you may not be able to make reservations prior to sailing, it is entirely possible that these venues could be open on your sailing.

If you ask ten different people at RCI the same question, you might get twenty different answers! :)

  2. Go to princess.com and check out the deck plans. Click on any room and you will see the relevant info.

Thanks... I know that Carnival has a site with specifics of each cabin that includes information you can't find anywhere else (balcony partitions etc.). Thought maybe Princess had the same.

I was able to find a complete set of pictures of D736 on the Grand and it looks good to me!

I'm not a fan of the Princess balconies that are offset with little to no privacy. One of the main reasons we went with an aft cabin!

  3. Nope, I'll just give up cruising entirely!

I won't pay twice as much for the same itinerary, just because of the name of the ship!

Motel 6 and Waldorf Astoria both ultimately provide you with the same thing (a place to sleep, and possibly some food). But to say they are the same thing with different names isn't exactly accurate.

The same is true with cruise lines. They all offer the same product (a floating hotel), but they are certainly more different than just names!

  4. One has a larger room and smaller balcony. The other has a smaller room and a larger balcony.

Just curious where I can find this info? It's nice to be able to see information that is specific to each cabin!

  5. I would go with the Dolphin Vista.....:):):)

    Bob

Dolphin deck suites will have a view to the side as well as aft. I would go with one of the Dolphin deck suites.

Thanks! I already have C751 reserved, but you guys just confirmed it for me. We'll be changing to Dolphin tomorrow!

  6. Looking at a vista suite on Grand Princess in Alaska next summer.

Trying to pick between D736/D737 or C751. Haven't found much about these cabins other than the beam. That doesn't appear to be anything that would bother us. Any advantage to any of these over the others?

  7. You're right, I hadn't noticed that Park Cafe was no longer mentioned on the Navigator page. Park Cafe is still listed on the PDF file of improvements, but that has not been updated since June.

The deck 4 area next to Schooner would not be a bad place for Park Cafe, but it's right under Cafe Promenade and I'd think they would have wanted to separate those a bit more.

We are on the cruise immediately after drydock... wishing I hadn't erased my emails they have been sending me about all the new things I am going to enjoy on the Navigator. Didn't read them close enough to see if they still mentioned Park Cafe. Just deleted one last week.

  8. I think there is going to be a new concept restaurant in that spot. I also think the Cafe we already have is going to be upgraded. The new concept restaurant will likely be a few based "American" restaurant. That is where my rumor stops.

Are you saying that Cafe Promenade will be a hybrid Cafe Promenade/Park Cafe or just changing completely to Park Cafe?

Great... so now we'll have Johnny Rockets and Friday's. :D:rolleyes:

  9. Wonder where Park Cafe will go. Interesting the couple name changes, like the dining room and theatre. Looking forward to seeing the ship in February.

I thought that's what the Dungeon on deck 4 was being replaced with where is says "specialty restaurant". All the other restaurants that were mentioned for the drydock are accounted for.

Then again, I no longer see any mention of Park Cafe' on Navigator's profile page. I hope they didn't decide to not include it!

  10. Surprised they're removing the entire nightclub, based on its size before. I've never really seen it busy though and guess the Cosmopolitan Club will substitute, just surprising to me.

I agree, seems puzzling that they would remove a public space that generates revenue (bar) for a complimentary one!? I'm assuming this is where they are putting Park Cafe since all the other new venues are accounted for on the new plans. Not that I'm complaining, Park Cafe is what I am most excited about. I never went in the night club.

  11. It almost sounds from the dry dock description that they're removing everything from deck 12 up, adding a new deck 12, and putting everything back down on top of it. It may be worth a quick weekend trip to Freeport just to watch them do this one:D

This makes the most sense. Ready to see the new deck plans! We are on the first cruise after drydock (assuming none of the changes delays or lengthens the drydock). I'll take lots of pictures to share with everyone here.

  12. So with the new non-smoking policy kicking in next January, maybe Derek will be back on the Galveston ship. Of course, naturally, the Navigator is in dry dock just as this new policy kicks in, delaying Derek for another month. Sigh.

I would think it is highly likely he will be back in Galveston in the near future. I guess it depends how far in advance they do their contracts.

  13. Just thought of something. We'll be in 7708 on Freedom of the Seas. Does that aft balcony room have a sofa, or only a chair? I was just watching some youtube videos of aft balconies on Freedom. It wasn't a corner aft, but the room only had a chair. (I think it may have been on deck 9)

Yes, it has the smaller love seat instead of the sofa. I don't believe it can be opened into a bed, but not 100% certain on that. Here is a video of 7408 on Liberty which should give you an idea.

  14. This thread is so confusing! On one hand we have RCI pulling our of Galveston all together and on the other RCI is putting a ship year round out of Galveston?

I prefer the year round option, but I'm optimistic that instead of either option... they are getting ready to put a new (hopefully larger) ship in Galveston (seasonal or otherwise). I can easily see them moving a Freedom class ship to Galveston once both Quantum and Anthem enter service. I think its reasonable to think they will put Anthem in Port Canaveral and move Freedom elsewhere.

Disclaimer: I have not heard this information from a cabin steward, waiter etc., it is just my own conjecture and should not be construed as having come from previously mentioned reliable sources.;)
