  1. Just off Anthem. Lots of folks sick and more cleaning being done than I have ever seen on a ship. Also talked to people who had it. If one person in a cabin had it, they did nothing to contain or quarantine others in the cabin. Also heard from someone they were denied food, not allowed mashed potatoes, waited for hours in room for water to be delivered.

I was the one in our cabin who came down with a mild case of it and my cabin mate (my cousin) was allowed to go out and about while I was confined. When you see the doctor, you are given a list of when and what foods you will be allowed to eat. You call Room Service and they already have been informed and will only provide you with the allowed foods.

Since I went to the doctor's office the last sea day, even our luggage was not permitted to be placed outside our cabin door with everyone else's. When we arrived in Bayonne, our luggage was not in the assigned color section but in a separate area of the terminal along with I presume other "victim's" luggage. Really makes you feel "special".:(

For some reason Anthem seems to have more Noro than any of their other ships. Not sure why...more kids booked under kids sail free promo??

We are sailing next month and I really, really, really hope it is gone by the time we board!!!! Want to see the shows I missed along with one of the on-board behind the scenes tour as well.

  2. Do they post themes or key dishes outside the windjammer the way they do outside the MDR the day of?

Or, does anyone (esp with my time dining) see what the mdr is doing, then stop by the wj and decide?

Can’t decide if that seems like a workable plan, or if that’s a bit much, haha. It’s a whole other project to get my wife on board with the plan too ;)

If it is a theme night (i.e. seafood) there are cardboard tents on the tables in the WJ placed earlier in the day.

  3. Hello first time posting and on the ship this Sat. Do you have a sense of how bad the norovirus is as they are delaying our check in time on Sat. Are there many quarantines? Wonder if the stewards would tell us if a cabin was quarantined or not.

If there is a "yellow" dot sticker above the cabin door, it means someone is quarantined. Happen last year on our Anthem sailing and only increased on the following sailings in spite of the visible cleaning going on and servers giving out food and beverages in WJ.

  4. Oh no!

Say it isn't so! Sailed on Anthem last October and was a victim!!!!:( On each of the following sailings it only got worse with more passengers being stricken.

Scheduled to go next month...thinking it would be less likely to happen in warmer months than in the latter part of the year!!! I have already purchased wipes, hand sanitzer to take with us on our sailing.

All cruise lines, including RCCL, should rethink eliminating plastic straws. Too many hands touch glasses, cups, dishes, etc. It is "nice" that passengers wash hands before entering buffet, but then they must touch the same serving spoons that everyone else is touching. UGH!!

Before to check around your cabin door for any "yellow" dot sticker. That means occupant has/had Noro.

  5. Having seen how some passengers unhealthly mishandle food while on line at breakfast and lunch, why would you want to repeat the experience at dinner??? Sailed last Nov. when Noro was hitting at a high level and it resulted in staff serving food and beverages in buffet to cut down on spreading germs. I ended up as one of its victims:(:(:(

MDR staff is good at accommodating passengers regarding what they either want or need at dinner. You need to ask. Selections can be skipped, no need to order a main course if you do not wish to do so or more than one appetizers can be ordered and you can get more than one dessert. Also, there is the option of the pay for restaurants.

Buffet is okay for a fast bite during the daytime hours. At night, dinner should be a relaxing and enjoyable experience where the food is served to you. That is what you are paying for.

  6. We are on the 10/28 Escape sailing...wondering if the free shuttle to St. George will still be running??? Our arrival on day 1 is approx. 5PM in the Dockyard...too late to go to St. George. But day 2 we are docked and day 3 we leave at 2:30 PM.

  7. Question for those sailing on the first Bermuda cruise for the season: What time does the Escape dock in Bermuda on day 1?

We are sailing on 10/28 and we do not arrive until 5PM on day 1! So, day 2 is a full day and then day 3 we leave at 2:30PM. For Bermuda, our shore excursion credit will be for 3 days at $50 per cabin per day. I have heard that only on the Bermuda cruise you will be allowed to combine the shore excursion credit. Please advise.

    Thanks!

  8. Checking prices for this sailing and came upon Past Guest perks which "claims" one extra point per night for this sailing which can be combined with other promos for this sailing. So, I asked my TA if this was true since I am Platinum and sailing in balcony cabin. TA could only find out that this perk would apply to suites and above. But, NCL would assign proper points should this be the case.

Just wondering if anyone else can clarify this.

  9. Curious- do you think if our reservation was for one reservation for 6 people (3 cabins); as opposed to 3 reservations (1 cabin each), the min bid for the Haven would have displayed lower than $2500 pp?

IMO, I would think that the premise is that you would give up your lower rate for the higher rate cabin at the winner bid amount. Don't think it would work with 3 separate cabins since it is basically an exchange of one lower rate cabin for a higher rate cabin.

  10. no, you get $50 each day of Bermuda. You cannot combine them to use all in one day tho.

Bermuda is the exception. They can be combined. First day arrival in Bermuda is 6 PM so excursions would be very limited.

  11. On the Breakaway last year we were told after the first night it was not necessary to make a dinner reservation since we were a party of 2. The Manhattan Room was the only MDR reservation we made. Other than the speciality reservations, we just showed up, told them how many and either waited less than 5 minutes or were seated immediately.

If you have a large group, it may make sense to reserve in advance.

  12. To me this contradicts RC removing the option to buy an open booking while on the ship. On our last cruise we booked a cruise in 2019 that we have no intention of sailing on and will soon switch just to be able to get the FCC since we hadn’t decided on where we wanted to go.

lThat is what seems to have pushed the change -- too many cruises booked with no intention of following through -- "place holders" for some deny other cruisers a booking.

  13. Oh, I plan to join the Halloween party, but I was just thinking about stepping off the ship for a couple hours, look around, etc. But with 4,000 ppl doing the same thing, I might just hang back. I still have to find out when the visitor centers open and close so I can get a couple days passes on the buses and ferries. If they're still open after 5:00 I guess I can join the queue so I can get an early start the next day.

If you are on the 10/28 sailing, it shows a port arrival time of 6PM.

  14. You will need to rebook (if your not past final payment due date)

Any perks you had will be lost.

Absolutely correct!!!! We are sailing in October and had one price drop of over $50 per person but had to give up strawberries and a bottle of wine to get the price drop. Now, it would actually cost us money (penalty) to "save on the taxes" so it does not make any sense for us to rebook!!!:( However, our TA was able to save us a little over $15 per person on our insurance without any loss of perks. If you have to rebook, it costs you money. So, unless you are saving more than the penalty to rebook, it is not worth it.
