Our first cruise was on the Carnival Mardi Gras--Carnival was testing the West Coast market in 1977, so DH and I gave it a try--inside cabin at front of ship on the bottom passenger deck--dark and small room. We liked, but didn't get hooked.
Years later (1995 I think) on the Carnival Pride we had a great veranda cabin. I remember standing on the balcony watching two whales as we sailed from Cabo San Lucas. I turned to my husband and said, " We're doing this again SOON!" The love affair with cruising began! Interesting...that moment is still so vivid.

Hubbard Glacier was breathtaking , but Glacier Bay is much more extensive and the multiple awe-inspiring moments there cause me to lean toward Glacier Bay.

Now that baby could really create liquid refeashment for one heck of a sailaway party on the balcony!!!!!!! How have we ever been able to sail without one????

What an incredible experience..... thank you for sharing this. I look forward to your posts!
Mmmm....what a wonderful way to spend a few months of your life--sailing around the world.

Grumpy,
Thanks for the picture of the Amsterdam in the Canal. That's a bit early for those of us on the West coast. Hope you are feeling better.
With each of these world cruise journals, I'm more convinced I must do this someday....
Bob and Mary Ann thanks again for sharing.

Thank you so much for posting these. Several of my favorites are here. By any chance, is there a recipe for the Blood Orange Cake? It sounds gastly, but my waiter said it was great and he was sooooo right!
Thanks again

Some one asked about BBQ--you must go get it unless you have a butler. I understand the cabana boys used to bring luch, but can no longer do that. The Turquoise cabana is a very short walk to BBQ area.
I'm so envious of all of you heading to HMC! Lucky you! It's such a beatifil place. I know you'll love HMC and OUR cabana!:)

Thought I'd join in... We had Turquoise Cabana in July--LOVED it! It's also a short walk to the BQ at lunch. HMC is the most beautiful spot! Loacation of the turquoise cabana is great. Enjoy! I love the idea of leaving little treasures behind:)

This thread is so fantastic!
One thing about HAL that I love is the wonderful abundance of flowers everywhere--even fresh orchids on tables in Lido Buffet.
I also love that when you order champagne in the bar, you get a small bottle of the bubbly!:)
AND....
If it's your birthday--ask the waiters to sing "Happy Birthday" in Indonesian--it's beautiful. (My daughter's an opera singer and she was delighted as they sang to her--the photo taken of her as they sang captured a beautiful moment.)

The incredible views from aft cabins--the wake and stars at night make these my favorite cabins.
-
Our last two cruises were aft cabinse love them. You can feel a slight vibration--hey there are some very powerful engines turning the screws back there to make the ship move through the sea! It didn't bother us. the view is so spectacular, who minds a slight vibration? Never slept better anywhere else on the ship.
If you hit rough seas, it does move a bit! (WE had 15-20 ft seas one night and we were aware we were on a ship!) We slept great--just like being rocked in a cradle.
