I've never been on carnival. Our first cruise is in May. I've cruised DCL, NCCL, and RCCL in the past. As I'm sure you can see from my signature :)
I use CC a lot prior to a cruise; mostly visiting the Roll Call or the specific Cruise line boards. Given that fact I have never really participated in a carnival thread. My only interaction with Carnival forums,of any kind, are on John Heald's FB page. Love him. And the people I've interacted with there.
I have been visiting the carnival forums now for a couple of
Months getting prepared for our first CCL vaca!
My time spent on these boards has made me a little apprehensive . Why?? Well there seems to be more angry cruisers on these boards than I'm used to seeing on the other boards. :(. Well they seem angry based on snide, mean, rude, or whatever term you want to give to the type of comments I see on some of these threads. Not saying this one in particular is that bad.... Just got me to thinking about it and so I posted here!
Having said that.... I've read a few threads lately about FTTF and have noticed the anger it causes in some people.
I bought the FTTF (for our cruise in May) for one reason... I felt it was a small amount to pay for the convenience of being able to drop my carry ons in the room when we board. That's it. I'm not looking to trample or shove anyone out of their place in line. I do not think I'm elite or special (although my mom does )
I am not a rude or presumptuous person. And I try to be very open minded and fair. I'm sad that I now feel as though I better hide my card from view of others, or risk the wrath of the experienced carnival cruiser with an axe to grind over the FTTF program.
I truly hope this doesn't come across as rude or mean spirited.... Because that's not my intention. I'm just saddened to be running into flame type comments so often on these boards.
Oh and all you cruisers who offer constructive replies and encouragement to others... You are the reason I keep reading!! Fortunately, at the end of the day, I see a lot of nice people here!
So..... On May 2nd if you are boarding the Sunshine in Port Canaveral and see a somewhat tall blonde (I know great description) being accosted because of her FTTF status.... I'm looking to YOU, kind Carnival cruisers, to come to my rescue!! Lol.
You all have a great day!

I just feel sad for people like this. I mean, they have to live with themselves and deal with getting upset over trivial things.
I'd rather just be happy.

We always board around 11:30 or Noon and drop off our bags in our cabin, then grab a bite to eat - without having to shell out $50 for FTTF.
As for priority tendering, we needed to get off the ship and meet our private excursion. I told the person managing the numbers that I couldn't wait too long to get off the ship because of it, so they allowed us to get off without having to wait.
These perks have been free, why are people giving $50 away to Carnival?
Can you drop your bags off if the room isn't ready?

I'd make sure the kids are limited on how much they can spend. You don't want any surprises with kids who decide to go on a shopping spree!

Have her out it on plane mode so at least your not incurring charges the whole trip.

This is before the era of cell phones so if my wife would have called a nice young lady would have answered my phone.
Omg...
Exactly. And this is why I get crazy when I read posts asking if it is ok to put a 10 and 7 year old in a cabin across the hall!!! Of course they will pretend a parent is registered in that cabin even though not sleeping there.Isn't that a bit young??? I can see maybe adjoining rooms so long as there are doors opened between the rooms... Maybe... Or, maybe I'm just being unrealistic?

I've never had a steward walk in on me but I walked in on a steward once ... sort of. I was really relaxed from a late massage at the spa and hitting a couple of bars on the way back to the room. The steward and I arrived around the same time so I told him to do his thing and I'd relax on the balcony and enjoy a night cap. The lulling sound of the wake combined with the other "relaxants" must have caused memory loss because I went back in the room and starting taking all my clothes off to get more comfortable. The poor guy came out of the bathroom with his bucket and about passed out from horror when he saw me.:D He deserved every cent of the extra tip I left him. :)
Omg, hahahahahaha.
But the nuts, crackers, wine and yummy cheeses are not. But for us we never have to buy them, the casino host send them to us.
I thought you could get cheese tray for desert at dinner? -
This video taught me how to pack a suitcase. I can cram it full, fly from California to Chicago or Tampa or Seattle or wherever, unpack, and hang my things wrinkle-free. I've also used dry-cleaning plastic bags, but find the tissue paper method to work as well, if not better. I've packed gowns, cocktail dresses, linen or cotton slacks, silks, you name it. It's a long video, but really worth watching and trying. I get tissue paper packs at my dollar store and they last forever. I reuse the tissue paper as it's not mangled when I've unpacked.
Thank you for the tip!

Seems like there are a lot of different answers. Oh, well, I guess I'll just find out when I get there. Not the end of the world, it's just odd...

Sometimes you don't even get a confirmation e-mail. If you forgot to print out the confirmation, just send them an e-mal or give Bon Voyage a call.
Works every time for me (I like to have all confirmations prior to boarding).
That's a great tip! Thank you so much!!!

I have asked them multiple questions that I have gotten different answers from them then on here.
For example, one question was if can I purchase the Cheers program on the second day? They said, "No, it has to be purchased on the first day."
I called twice and asked when Camp Carnival was open on the first day of the cruise because I wanted reservations at the Steak House. Both people I spoke to insisted it would be open so I could have/make my reservations at about 7:30-8pm. The first person I spoke to even checked with their manager to make sure.
Makes me nervous because Carnival can change policies at any time so I wonder sometimes if I'm getting information on here that is outdated or does the Carnival Customer Service just not know what they are talking about?
I guess I'm just wondering what others experiences are with Customer Service.

Don't get to many copies of the same photo. I'm only getting one copy of each photo I like. When you get home, you can email Carnival for a "photo release". Google "carnival photo release" and there will be better instructions.
When you get it released you can get copies at a photo place as long as you take the photo release thing with you.

I was cut off after 3 lobsters that on my last Carnival cruise. :(
Do they still serve the tiger prawns with Lobster? Those were awesome, too.
That stinks. Aren't they really tiny???

I got a bunch of cruise cash credits. I never got an email confirmation either. I called up CS and they said I have the bank statements showing I purchased them and that he can't confirm I have them and there's no other way of confirming what I bought.
Very irritating. I have the bank app on my phone so as soon as I get Onboard I'm going to guest services to confirm they have the right amount.
If they don't, apparently, I'm going to have to show them my bank information from my phone to fix it. Wish I could just have it confirmed on their website ahead of time so I don't have to bother with the hassle and go right into enjoying my cruise...

When I booked the trip, they said license and birth certificate are fine for hubby and I and kids were fine with birth certificate only.
I'm getting nervous because they have told me two things that are different from what I'm being told on this forum...

Special access or staterooms?

Have a blast!!! I'm so jealous!!!

I've actually always wanted an inside. I love the idea of a ton of light NOT shining into the room first thing in the morning.
Also, you can get plenty of sunshine throughout the ship without having a balcony. If anything, I'd think it would motivate you to be up and about enjoying meeting new people, etc.
I don't really see the point of having a balcony when you could just go to a deck and sit in a lounge chair and have more room instead of being confined to a chair in an enclosed space.
Had this same talk with my husband. I got overruled... Again...

I'm going to the Rotisserie if the buffet is to busy. I've been told they are open and less busy.

I have noticed that the "plain" cookies or sugar cookies, are harder than the chocolate chip cookies from room service. I love having these sitting in the room. I order a few plates at a time, so they are there when I/we want. It's going to be sooooo hard on our cruise next week with my clean/healthier eating I'm doing.
From what I understand, calories don't count on vacation. :p

Just wondering why they sell them on their site if we can get them or free?
What are you most looking forward to in your cruise?

I'm pretty excited about the cloud 9 spa! Could easily spend hours a day in there, lol.
How about you?
