  1. Thank You.

The Hotel Dello is located on Federal Highway in Dania Beach, Florida. It's located just south of Hollywood Fort Lauderdale International Airport. It's located in a mostly residential area. There's a small strip mall on Federal Highway that has Jaxson's Restaurant which is a burger joint that also has the best ice cream in South Florida. There's also Pauli's Pizza and Italian Restaurant located in the same mall. All his food is homemade and he's a friendly guy. Grampas Restaurant is across the street from the strip mall. They are known for their breakfast menu and they also have a bakery. They were featured on Guy Fieri's Diners, Drive In's and Dives. I'm pretty sure that there only open for breakfast and lunch. Everything else decent in the area you would need Uber or Lyft.

  2. I am departing from Ft Lauderdale on 17th December on a Christimas cruise on the Caribbean Princess.

I do not have a package so would need to pay $10 to have the medallions shipped ahead of departure and be able to embark via green lane.

Does anyone have any recent experience embarking that could advise if there are any significant delays if you have to collect the medallion in Fort Lauderdale?

Just trying to determine if it is worth having the medallions shipped

    Thanks

No need to pay for extra on the cruise, your flight which we're not talking about is a different story.

You can bring as many as you like, it is good to be kind to the stewards who have to  tote your bags to  your cabin for you.  So maybe don't make them too heavy please.

Thank You, I will be driving to the port so not an issue with the airlines. We would certainly tip the porters and attendants well and ensure nothing was above 50lbs.

The NCL site states the following "Each person is allowed up to two pieces of personal luggage on board, with each piece weighing a maximum of 50 pounds. However, if passengers are travelling by air, they need to check with the airline for specific restrictions", hence my concerns

  4. If you took Cunard one way to/from the UK/Mainland Europe and the other direction on RC it could work as Cunard Queen Mary 2 crosses the Atlantic virtually every week.

There are also some off season Royal Caribbean transatlantice trips for example in Oct 2024 you could go from Orlando to Lisbon then come back from Barcelona at the end of Nov 2024.

    Try to assist…

We take 6 x 82 cms (X-LARGE), plus 2 large, and 2 roller cabins, so understand one’s thoughts.

    No worries.

4 X-LARGE can fit under the bed (on QM one’ will have to move the two large pull drawer storage units found under the foot of bed slightly out)

Store packed suitcases under bed, then everything else with one’s steward.

    Thank you for the insight

I'm guessing this is going to be QM2, though theoretically there are other options.

On QM2 some Oceanviews on deck 6 are quite a bit bigger than other Oceanviews and Cunard just spreads the same furniture slightly further apart. So if you got say 6047 and asked for the easy chair to be removed you would have quite a big space at the end of the sofa to pile up suitcases etc, without blocking anything.

The balcony cabins are smaller than this set of rooms, plus even on sheltered balconies I can't see them allowing you to tarpaulin a wadge of suitcase in case a storm takes them away. There is plenty of space for that hypothetically.   It may be easier to get the cheapest indoor cabin as a second booking, purely as a store room and not use it for anything.

On QV and QE there are some larger balcony cabins on the edge of the lifeboat series on deck 4, and they have a space between the fridge and the balcony door which has an extra chair in it and some spare wall space. On the other side there is a table. If that table and chair were removed there would be space for a stack of suitcases. In this photo the chair is hidden, it's the other side of the fridge+kettle, but there is unused space there.

Thank you for this useful information

  7. We are going to be relocating back to Europe from USA.

Thinking of doing so via cruise, which would mean us taking a lot of luggage on board.

Cunard have confirmed we can take as much luggage onboard as we lik,  as long as it can fit in our room.

Trying to figure out how much we could realistically store in an outside or balcony room. Or do we need to purchase the least expensive room available for luggage storage.

What is the most amount of luggage you brought onboard.

    Any thoughts?

  8. We are arriving at Houston  Hobby airport at 8:50 pm on  a  Friday. Then heading straight to Hilton  Resort  in  Galveston. We would probably arrivie att the hotel between 10 and  10:30pm. Looking  for  a  restaurant  close to the hotel that would be open late for dinner . Bar with food is also  OK. Thanks.

  9. I am planning to move to Spain next year and looking to do so via a cruise. I have heard of other people doing the same.

I will be taking a lot of luggage with me and have heard that some cruise lines will allow you to take extra luggage that can be stored as cargo rather than being delivered to your cabin.

Has anyone any experiance with this and which cruise lines will provide this service?

We have stayed there and it was nice and clean, breakfast was good and close to restaurants. Across the street a few restaurants and around the corner Grampa’s Cafe, etc.  Plenty of places to grab food.

Grocery store, I don’t remember, use google to search.  I ordered delivery from Total Wine store to the hotel.  You could Lyft/Uber to Total Wine or Publix in the Harbor Shops.

Yes, it was a safe area. No issues.

We chose it because it was one of the newer hotels.  A lot of the hotels there are older and need updating. JMO

Thank You. I am Diamond with Hilton so trying to find a reasonably priced hotel with them. I see that there is a Publix that is walkable. Good to hear you can have delivery from Total Wine. We normally stay near the Harbor Shops but price of the hotels is a bit high for our date and we will be arriving really late and leaving in the morning.

  11. Thank-You everyone for the great insights. I actually do not normally sit by the pool so lounge chairs are not an issue for me. I think we are going to take the plunge and book. I wish there were rooms other than those on deck 14 but that is all that is available at this time, but I will keep an eye out in case other rooms become available.

On deck 14 there are a lot of blank spaces between rooms e.g. next to 14235 do you know what they are?

    Thank You

  12. I have been contemplating taking a 7 day Allure cruise this September for my wedding anniversary.
There are not many options for the data of our anniversary and I am struggling to determine if an interior facing balcony on such a large ship is for us. There are no ocean view balconies available.

The price is right and I like the idea of all the things to do and what sounds like great entertainment, but we are used to smaller (up to 3K) ships and concerned about how bad the queues etc. are.

Only available room are on the14th floor and was a little concerned about noise from the pool or central park.

I have taken around 20 cruises primarily on HAL, Celebrity and Norwegian but did take 2 RCL cruises on smaller ships many years ago.

Would love to hear thoughts from those that took the leap to a larger ship.
