We are interested in wandering the streets and getting a feel for the ambiance of the town. So knowing interesting buildings/streets/neighborhoods to walk through would be good. Also if there are any gardens or similar. Then any area that would be good to find a café for a light lunch.
With this in mind where is the best area of town to stay in?
Merci beaucoup!
Forgot to add we will be in Montreal 08/30-8/31

We will be travelling to Montreal from Quebec City and are considering a rental car as the train times do not work and my husband hates buses.
Is there a location to rent a car within walking distance (with luggage) from the port?
Also in Montreal we are only going to be there from Midday one day to the next.
Any recommendations in that short time of what to see and where is the most central location/hotel to stay in?
Thanks

Deep68, how soon do you need this info? We are booked into one of those rooms on a cruise in early July and I'd be glad to report on what it was like when we return.
FWIW, we chose that room because our TA said it was slightly larger than the other oceanview rooms and because there was a deep discount on their price.
GradUT
Thanks for the offer GradUT. We will be sailing in August and booking this week. However if you could report back after your trip that would be great as we may have an option to change room.

I was trying to find more information on Veendam cabins 702 and 707.
They seem larger than normal in size.
Are they in a good location?
Any insight would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Requesting input from fellow cruise critic members.
Trying to decide between an August Maasdam cruise from Boston to Montreal or a Veendam itinerary from Boston to Quebec City
I like the idea of overnight in Quebec City as many people say there is a lot to see there. If we choose this itinerary we would head to Montreal post cruise for one or two night.
On the flip side the convenience of the cruise itself ending in Montreal is great as we would not have to organize transportation between the two cities.
We have sailed on the Maasdam before but not on Veendam. However I am not sure if the ship is as important as the itinerary in this case.
Such a dilemma!

What time would you recommend boarding the Jewel to miss the crowds in New Orleans?
Also where is the quietest place to dine on embarkation?
Thanks

We will be arriving at 5:47am into Boston airport on a Saturday for departure on the Veendam later the same day.
We have decided to take the Rowes Wharf water taxi from the airport as they will store our luggage until we want to board the ship.
Arriving in Rowes Wharf where would you recommend for breakfast and what activities/sightseeing would you suggest to keep us busy until we are ready to board the ship around 12pm ish.
