The idea of using a photocopy of your passport is silly. The whole point of the passport is it is THE world recognized premier identification. A copy is nothing. Why not just leave your passport at home and travel with a copy of it? Lets see you get on a plane with a copy.....
AFA "it helps officials if you are stranded" argument. Nah, that's not the way it works. Go to any US Embassy with a photo ID and provide your SSN. They can find you in their system in seconds. Do you really think they would say "Well, if f you had a copy of your passport, you'd be on your way right now..., but since all you have is your driver's license, this will take a while...."

Truth is, you don't need to have luggage tags at all. When the porter takes your luggage, tell them the ship & cabin and, guess what? your luggage shows up just fine! They'll put an orange sticker on it too to signify Platinum if needed too.
Granted, luggage tags are nice, but to infer they are required is wrong. AFA laminating them or getting a special holder, that's seems a bit over-the-top in my opinion.
See you on Lido deck!

Do they just lend you the bucket if you ask? It would be great!
The "bucket" used for beer is nothing more than an over-sized (6 qt?) plastic ice cream pail with some carnival promo material printed on it. Sometimes they look pretty sad....
But to answer your question, YES, they will lend you a bucket, pretty much every bar has a stack of them somewhere....
-
You could also ask for one of the buckets they serve 4 beers in on the Lido deck from one of the bars, ask them to fill it with ice and put your pop in this. Your room attendant will keep it filled with ice for you.

No need to lug a cooler from home. Simple and cost effective.

I'm surprised how food appears to be a major part of people's cruises (this thread and several others). I've been on 15/16 cruises and have yet to use room service, never brought food aboard a ship and never have taken food off the ship.
I can understand the need if one has a medical condition or have small children, but "needing" Pringles to get thru the night, or "we always eat M&M's before bed", is very foreign to me. Going eight/ten hours without food is my normal.

I had this a little bit after our 4 day cruise last year but not on any cruises I had been on before that. Just got off a 7 day on Saturday and I can really feel my body buzzing today. How long does this last? Anything I can do to make it better? I've kept moving most of the day trying to ignore it b/c it's making me feel a little queasy.
You should go see a doctor, this is not normal. You may have an ear/vestibular problem (infection?) that could do this.
AFA "sea legs" nah, you're just rationalizing. I did time in the Navy with extended time at sea. Ya don't get "sea legs" from being on a 1000', 110,000 GWT ship for a week....

I've been there in January and thought the water temps (low 70's?) were fine for swimming. Then again I'm from a northern clime and anything above 20° in January is welcome....

I had ~ $95 credit from the 1st leg of a B2B. I asked at GS during the 2nd leg about the credit and said it would be mailed out (it was).
-
This thread has talked me into booking a B2B for August of 2019. I have one tiny concern that I hope others can assuage. One person has already answered this. I am hoping others can confirm that they got their original S&S cards back after they took them from you at the end of the 1st cruise.
Yes, you can keep the S&S cards from the first leg.
I generally toss 'em, one less piece of clutter in my life...

to do a name change a week before? Really? I understand its in the terms and policy's but I would think they would rather make the extra money from having another person spend on Drinks, shore excursions, spa, casino etc rather than let it go empty.
I am not worried about what i spent on the cruise bc i have insurance (not with Carnival) but why should i have another person pay the full price, plus have them not give me any refund? Sounds like a good deal for them.
What am i not understanding?
P.S. Do not post/reply if you disagree with me.
Fixed that for ya....
As to why is it difficult, you should be able to understand if they made it really easy, people would re-sell their cabin/booking to someone else......Carnival has valid reasons as to their policy.

What's this thread have to do with Carnival? Shouldn't this be in the "departure ports" forum?
-
Carnival put us in Ocho Rios as a substitute port because of a hurricane, obviously we had nothing planned and just wandered towards the downtown area.
We happened across a bar called "Under the Stairs" which consisted of some tables sitting on a shaded patio with an under-the-stair utility room serving Red-Stripe beers through the doorway. Lunch was some guy cooking jerk chicken on a Weber in the street and the restroom was at the burger king. Bought some peanuts while there from some Rasta-looking guy who roasted them in a wagon he pulled around.
All-in-all a delightful day and one of our best memories of cruising. I find the more I cruise the less I use excursions. Serendipitous adventures are more fun and meaningful for us.
On a cruise later this month, we're going to find a taxi to take us to the Shipwreck Bar in St. Kitts. that's about we got planned for that island....

Beside the Plat/Diamond party we've received free drinks on the Journey's cruises we've been on.
The last one being the Legend Hawaii > Vancouver relocation this spring. Not sure of the reason, but there were Lei's, dancing, and free drinks in the atrium one night. I recall them trying to get rid of some Australian beer (from the previous cruise leg) and "forced" me to take several. I ended up with six to take back to the cabin. That was a good night....
-
We had an corner aft-wrap, deck 4 on the Legend for a Hawaii to Vancouver cruise this spring. The cabin/balcony was pretty nice.
Alas the CC file uploader requires the pictures to be less than 20K. So sorry, no pictures.

Never had a problem in Belize outside the gates. Really didn't seem that bad at all.
Last time we took a water taxi to Caye Caulker to do some snorkeling and then had a great lunch/drinks at Wish Willy and the Lazy Lizard on the Caye. Came back via water taxi with an hour to spare.... Plan on doing it again next time we're there.

I've got a CC that give me 5% on all transactions up to the 1st $1000/month with no annual fee. Works for me.

Port side out of NOLA has the advantage of being able to see ships going the opposite way. If there is another Carnival ship (Triumph?) in port you may be able to see them as you leave/arrive, (e.g. if your cruise ends on Sunday and the Triumph sails on Saturday, you will meet on the river Saturday night). Seeing another cruise ship closing at 20 knots and passing within 200' is pretty neat!
Other than that, personal preference overrides any other reasons.

Hair Dryers are provided on most ships. They are also one of the most bacteria laden utensil on board, just under the buffet tongs and the slot machine handles/buttons levels of contamination.
I am intrigued by your assertion. What is the source of your information?

We recently did a B2B out of Tampa and had 3 bottles of champagne in our carry-on. I was prepared to show the second boarding pass, but the guy did not care at all. Heck we could have had a bottle of booze and walked right aboard. Was a bit strange....
We also took the champagne up the funnel/sky deck and popped the cork(s) to commemorate going under the Sunshine bridge (twice). No one cared and even got a few "whooos" from other passengers.

I get 5% cash back for ALL transactions for the 1st $1,000 in charges. Then I switch to some card I got that gets 1.5% on all transactions. Works for me....

Cruised on the Liberty twice, didn't think it was that much different than any other Conquest class ship. Of the class, I prefer the Freedom....
-
Not at all. Were you able to get your flight changed again?
Why are my travel plans of interest to you? Are you on this cruise?
-
It wasn't in this thread, but another one:
"Taking the Paradise out of Tampa on 9/11. Delta canceled our Sunday noon flight into
TPA. We changed it to JAX arriving at 11:20, then renting a car to drove to TPA (always like getting to port a day early).
I'm surprised how negative people are about how CCL is handling things. I see no problem with a Monday departure from TPA. Looking forward to our B2B2B on the Paradise!"
Did you get your flight changed again?
What are you, some kind of stalker?
-
We're cruising out of Tampa on Tuesday and needed to change our arriving flight twice, add, then cancel a car rental, and cancel a non-refundable hotel room because of Irma. No extra charges were incurred for any of this, even the "non-refundable" hotel was refunded...
.
You won't be sailing on the 11th - it's now the 12th.Where did I say I was cruising on the 11th?

I don't think a photocopy of a passport would help you any more than a driver's license at the US embassy if your original passport is in your cabin.
If you look at the link provided (https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/international-travel/emergencies/lost-stolen-passport-abroad.html) it says "lost or stolen" not "sitting in your cabin".....
