  1. If you are stopping in Cozumel, check out Nachi Cocom Beach Break. It's not an excursion - you book it at home. You will have to take a cab ($20 each way) there. I believe it's $50 pp & includes drinks & 4 course meal which they will serve you right on the beach! Quiet beach - so relaxing! Check it out online. If our ship stops in Cozumel, that's where we'll be!

  2. We fly JetBlue now from BOS to FLL or MCO, depending on cruise port, because Delta has reduced their flights to one or two a day, unless you connect through ATL.

We are actually flying down on Jet Blue but the return flight was too expensive & I found the original Delta return much cheaper. Oh well, now I'm spending more on excursion!

  3. We had a late afternoon flight out of Ft. Lauderdale on Easter Sunday. We hopped in a cab and went to Bonnet House, just a block off of A1A. It is a beautiful estate with lovely gardens. There is a guided tour that lasted a couple of hours for about $15/pp. We walked the gardens independently after the tour. The ticket office had room to hold our luggage while we did the tour. Afterwards, a quick cab to the airport. We typically stay near Bonnet House pre-cruise but never had a chance to visit...I'm very glad we did it.

We are actually in Ft Lauderdale for 2 days prior. Thank you for that information! Possibly pre-cruise.

  4. Funny you should mention that. It seems Delta has cut back to one non-stop per day back to Boston at least for January and February. Can't even do a one stop with better timing.

Right after I saw your post we got bumped to the same time on January 19th. Right now I'm thinking of upgrading to first class and sitting in the lounge all day!

That land/sea excursion sounds like fun!

  5. I would call the airline. Generally, you can book another flight since your original was changed by more than 30 minutes.

TY for that suggestion. It appears Delta removed my original flight & the later flight is the only non-stop. We are going back to Boston in Feb & i try to avoid stops. Guess we will just try to enjoy the day in Ft Lauderdale rather than some northeastern airport!

RC has a bus tour/intercostal boat ride that looks interesting.

  6. I apologize I've not gotten further today with this review. Sadly, getting your land legs is a "REAL THING" apparently. I had some problems assimilating last year after getting off a cruise, but was shortly after diagnosed with some medical issues and figured it was related. However, today has been a bear with the same issues. It won't keep me from cruising, but it will likely slow me down for a day or two!

I'm attaching a couple of pics from Day 1...and promise to be back with more tomorrow!

Had this problem after my 1st cruise. Felt like i was on the ship for the nexth month! Thankfully it hasn't happened to me since then! Hope you are feeling better. We are on Adventure next Feb out of Lauderdale. Looking forward to it!

  7. Thank you for an entertaining review. We are on Adventure next year out of Ft Lauderdale headed to Eastern Caribbean. Whenever we book a cruise (one a year) I start stalking cruise critic! Lol! I recently read they are changing menus in dining room. Hope they keep Creme Brulee. I am also a big fan. Thanks again for taking the time to do this!

  8. DangerousDan ~ I am going to respectfully disagree with your choice:D. Mike's Pastry is where the tourists will go as seen by the lines out the door. Other options would be Modern Pastry or Maria's around the corner from Hanover St. Of course, this is all open to discussion, but my favorite is to stop at the Café Vittoria, have a cappuccino and enjoy a pastry while watching the crowds walk by.

The Aquarium is definitely doable as a shore excursion. Legal Seafood is right across the street as it the Chart House or the Marriott Hotel. Instead, you can walk from there through Christopher Columbus Park into the North End to enjoy lunch (Italian as well as seafood), a cannoli or gelato and, if you have time, take a tour of Paul Revere's House. Lots of history right there!

I 2nd Modern Pastry! Love their almond macaroons

  9. I see nothing on the travel agent website that indicates a partial charter.

I think you are thinking of a group booking. Group bookings are plentiful on every cruise and can be as small as 8 cabins. They are used by travel agents to get a better price and lock in rates. They do not necessarily that you will see hundreds of heavy metal band members. Most groups held by travel agents are booked into by people who don’t even know each other.

    Thank you for that info.

  10. Thanks for your compliment! We had a great trip despite being a bit under the weather. Yes there was music nightly in the Centrum and most every seat was filled on each deck with people enjoying it. There were also many dance classes and other activities. Seemed like a lot of fun!

We ate mostly in the Windjammer, but DH often visited Park Cafe for late night snacks. Food was always good....expect the pizza...YUCK! It tasted like chemicals....not good at all. Otherwise that was really the only inedible food I encountered. Have an amazing trip!

Thank you for that information! Now i am REALLY excited! You made my day :) Now if the weather in Tampa warms up for our land portion of vacation, it will be perfect! Have a great day & thanks again.

  11. Myself and DH just returned from our first B2B which was on the Brilliance. Happy to answer any questions if I can! We are not MDR people, but did lots of activities, casino and bar hopping. I will post a review later, but I figured I would see if I could help anyone out in the meantime! :D

Thank you for your review! We are on BOS in a few weeks and getting very excited! We love smaller ships because as you said, you can see the ocean! We sailed BOS last year and had a blast in the Centrum every night. In fact we ended up skipping the MDR and ate at Park Cafe & Windjammer most nights to enjoy the Centrum. Did you see any bands there? Did you eat at Park Cafe? Thanks so much :D

  12. We are on Brilliance next Feb & the Deluxe was listed at $55 pp when we booked. Then there was a set sail sale last weekend. Price came down to $48. I purchased it & then checked back after the sale. Price came down to $45! Yes, I cancelled & rebooked. Today I checked & the new sale is posted, but it's still $45 pp. Website says it's buy one get 1/2 off second. When I do the math, I get $41.25, not $45 pp assuming the price is going back to $55 pp. Guess I have to keep checking!
