  1. I've been wanted to cruise with my friends for a while, and we never really pursued it until now. They asked what ship I was going on in November, and I said "Carnival --" and I couldn't even say Glory before they said no. They think it's a drunk Fest. Well, to start, it's a 7 day cruise, not a short one. Secondly, it's eastern Caribbean, and I've read that more people find the eastern Caribbean cruises more mellow, rather than the western ones, idk.

What should I say to convince them that the Glory is a great ship and it's not a drunk Fest? Or is it better for me to keep them off the Glory and onto a different ship. They've cruised Royal before.

Thanks anyone who can help me.

I started cruising in 2004 and took my first Carnival Cruise in 2010. I stayed away from Carnival b/c of the "party" atmosphere that people would tell me about. I don't drink (never had one in all my 40 years :p) and was worried that I would be annoyed by the young/partying crowd. I LOVE Carnival. Did not find it any different than any other cruise ship as far as age of guests, partying, etc.

  2. I am a professional, an adult, and I have five kids. In fact, I'm an attorney who represents kids, including kids in juvenile delinquency matters.

    I know better.

But in my heart I'm still a juvenile. A bad one.

I cannot pass a white board on a door at night without writing something.

It's usually something funny, it's never a "bad word", and God help the people who have three or four cabins in a row with white boards on them.

I have now confessed my sins!

    Hysterical!

  3. Even though you have a Global Data Plan, wouldn't you still get a bill from Cellular at Sea since you are "pinging" off the ships tower?

I do know that with Verizon the last time we were on a cruise, I could still text my son at home and it only cost me $.50 and I did not have an international plan. No extra charges from Cellular at Sea.

Good question. But now that Verizon has contracts with these cruise ships, does that negate the Cellular at Sea charge? I didn't plan on using my phone for for data but would like to text. I can call in Puerto Rico for free when I get there :)

  4. International texting plans do not include on-ship texts.

Are you sure about this b/c I have the print out right here from Verizon that says Destination: Carnival Liberty $.50 cents outgoing and $.05 cents incoming. Verizon has contracts with most cruise ships now.

Just want to be sure I understand correctly IF I decide to text. Note: Verizon did turn on the international feature for my number.

From our Business Account on Verizon:

    Cruise Ship Rates

You can call and text on over 120 cruise ships, plus use your Global Data Plan to surf the web while you're onboard.

    View cruise ship coverage

    Global Data Feature

    $25/100MB

    Data Allowance 100MB

    Rate After Allowance $25/100MB

    Cruise Ship Rates

    Text Messaging $0.50/message sent

  5. All internet while at sea goes through the ship's internet. Your Verizon package would only be good while in port in Mexico.

While technically accurate, Verizon does now offer cruise data packages. 100 MB for $25. When I called about it, they gave a ton of information that I cannot remember enough to post here but they did tell me they have a partnership with Carnival (and other cruise lines as well).

OP - you may want to call Verizon and find out directly from them.

  6. I did this excursion but it was a Princess ship and it was about 5 years ago. WE spent about 2 hours at the rain forest and then got to the airport I'd say around 2-3. My biggest complaint was that our luggage, that was transferred directly to the airport instead of having to lug it with us, was just laying out on the sidewalk at the airport. I felt like anyone could have gone up and take our suitcases and no one would have said a word.

  7. Ditto the above. I used my phone (Verizon) while there as well. I was afraid to use data but used the phone no problem. My coworker told me while he was on vacation there that data would have also been included but I didn't want to take the chance.

  8. If you want a quaint area with some beautiful calm waters and don't want to be around hoards of people, go to Magen's. Every time I have seen Coki (in a tour), it has been packed to the brim. Now this isn't to say it's not a great beach, b/c I'm sure it is. But it seemed very busy, many many more options than what Magen's had. But it was just me and bf who don't drink, don't party, and have no kids. We were also the only ship in port so you may want to check that out before making a decision too.

  9. When we took his tour, we were the only ones who wanted to go to the beach so we choose Magen's. They dropped us off for an hour or two and then came back. I remember we did drive down to Coki beach as well but can't remember if others had decided to go after we got off at Magen's and we were picking them up or if he was just taking us there to show it to us. The tour is pretty laid back...I would think you could ask him before the tour started.

  10. Also, I was hoping someone who has experienced the American Table Menus could respond to something. I was doing a little more research on them and even saw some menus that zydocruiser (not sure I spelled it correctly) had posted somewhere. Can anyone tell me if there are "every day" appetizers still available. Since I'm so picky, I usually would only get the spring rolls; but they were available every single day. Is that still the case b/c I only saw spring rolls on one menu for one day.

  11. I would call. We are doing a group cruise on the Liberty and our party has an aft wrap, and then the 2 adjoining L-shaped rooms. We were going to book the first balcony after the L-shaped room and my TA told me that that cabin's balcony would not be able to join to the L-shape. The aft and first L-shape can, as well as the two L-shapes together but not the one we were going to book.

  12. Some will say yes and some say no. Like others said it's really a preference. I'm a picky eater and do not drink alcohol so for me, I don't mind paying for the perks. I'd rather buy FTTF then pay $35 at the steakhouse for a meal that i would only eat one course of! Have used FTTF 2x and have it booked again for 8/30!

  13. I am cruising in Aug and my passport expires in Oct. I emailed a friend, who is the best travel agent ever and books all my cruises for me, and he told me it was not necessary for me to get a new one before my cruise in Aug since it was leaving/returning to a US Port. I liked that answer b/c now I can use that money, that I would have used for renewing it, on a nice excursion! There is no penalty for not renewing it prior to its expiration date. But I would still call and ask Carnival directly.....and maybe 2-3X! :p

  14. Thank for taking the time to post. FYI, I learned, the hard way I might add, to write my review in microsoft word and then copy and paste. That way I can save as I type and if I have internet issues or need to go, I can just save it and pick up later. I'll use put a symbol where I want to insert a picture to remind me when I go to post the review here.

  15. On Carnival, it was definitely the Southern Caribbean from San Juan (but when the Victory had this route back in 2011).

However, my all-time favorite was also out of San Juan but was on Princess. It went to St Thomas, St Kitts, Aruba, Grenada, Bonaire.
