  1. We have recently returned from the Silhouette and our experience in Luminae was similar to Claudias. We were absolutely blown away by the fantastic service, food and ambiance in Luminae, in fact we only used one of our free speciality dining perks and we didn't get around to dining in Blu either although we love it there but we didn't want to miss out on Luminae.

We have been well and truly spoilt. It just goes to show how peoples opinions differ.

Very interested to read your thoughts on the yacht Club experience.

Like you we are loyal Celebrity cruisers and feel very "at home" on their ships, in fact we have just returned from the Silhouette and absolutely loved the suite class experience especially dining in Luminae, however we have been lured to MSC by the loyalty match and the great prices for the Yacht club and so will be spending Christmas on the Fantasia in Dubai and Middle East.

We are so looking forward to it and personally have no problem with cruising with passengers form different countries, we are from the Uk and generally avoid the lines which sell to a predominantly British market.

We are lucky to have met friends from all over the world on our cruises.

I do feel a little bit like we are cheating on our favourite cruise line especially when we have just had such a wonderful cruise with Celebrity but the whole concept of the YC is calling my name!

Looking forward to hearing more about your trip.

  3. I agree Donna. Plenty of entertainment there to keep us happy for 5 days. Not to mention all the fabulous dining options.

Also from past experience Royal are pretty generous compensating passengers when things go wrong while on a cruise.

On the Maiden Quantum transatlantic everyone got $300 refundable on board credit and a future cruise certificate to the value of 25% of their cruise fare. That was because things weren't quite ready, such as the bionic bar, 270 screens were still being installed and quite a few workmen were on board although those of us in inside cabins all got free upgrades to balconies to accommodate them so we didn't mind!

  4. Apologies if this has already been posted but I was just browsing the Royal Caribbean website and found this info:

    NEIGHBORHOOD BALCONIES

Sail on or after November, 2016 and enjoy exclusive complimentary amenities.

    Park View Balcony:

Savor Italian trattoria fare at a complimentary lunch for two at Giovanni's Table or Jamie's Italian.

A complimentary bottle of red wine welcomes your arrival.

Step up your game with private casino gaming lessons from an onboard expert.

    Boardwalk View Balcony:

Classic hamburgers and more at a complimentary meal for four at Johnny Rockets® or Jamie's Italian.

Enjoy unlimited soft drinks throughout the cruise with a soda package for two guests.

Tackle the Rock Climbing Wall at an exclusive session for the entire family.

Sounds interesting. Wonder if the prices on these cabins will increase to reflect the new perks!

  5. I sent Royal a private message via their FB page on 22 Feb asking when the naming ceremony for the Ovation would be taking place. I also mentioned that I was on the April 17 sailing.

On the 2nd March they finally replied that they are "looking at providing guests with a special experience to mark the inaugural sailing and will be in touch as soon as possible to share more details."

I must say it's all a bit strange. You would think by now they would have announced these things.

  6. They will let you go back into the guarantee pool in the UK.

I did this last week. We booked direct with Rccl UK. I phoned and asked if I could change to another cabin in the same category as ours was under the Windjammer.Been there before, noise drove us crazy.

The rep said I could not but offered to put me back to gty status.

A few hours later we got a better located cabin on deck 12.

When we have booked in the US it's never been a problem to change gty cabins as long as it's within the same category but they don't allow this in the UK but they should let you go back into the guarantee pool if you want to take the chance.

  7. Interesting question!

As Celebrity fans ourselves we have been lured to try MSC by their Yacht Club concept and the loyalty match they are offering.

Believe me we are very loyal to Royal and Celebrity but the prices and reviews of the MSC yacht club have convinced us to try it for a week this Christmas.

Not sure if I would cruise in a regular cabin on MSC but the Yacht club reviews are pretty impressive.

Guess we will find out for ourselves at the end of the year!
