1. Hi everyone! Just of the Breakaway! We had the ultimate dining package and when we went to make my reservations the day we got on the ship the woman told us that if we wanted to see the Cirque show the first night it would be complementary. We made reservations, showed up, watched a semi-decent show, was served a baby steak (nothing great) and 3 shrimps with french fries and not so delicious bite sized desserts with a burnt cup of coffee and sour milk. When the show was over we did not receive a check to sign anything, so we left. We went back to our room and there was two service charges of $48 for the dinner. I called the service desk and they advised me it will take 2 to 3 days for the charge to be dropped. The next morning the price was now $34 a person. We called every day and they advised us before we left the ship the charges will be dropped. My bf wasn't having any of that so he went to the guest service desk and told them to remove it on the fourth day and they did.

I will never go to see the show again. The acrobatics was the best part, but definitely nothing to write home about. Use your time and appetite eating at the other restaurants that are part of the ultimate dining package.

That does not sound good at all!

Dani you should have read this post before your cruise, maybe it would have saved your BF the trip to guest services :p

    Did you get good seats?

  2. I had a cruise booked with rccl that I booked with their last ksf and it overlapped with a wow sale. They somehow managed to drop both my sale and the obc when they transferred it to my ta. Despite having all my booking info and all the promo info, it took two days and over eight hours on the phone to get my rate back and the obc, over half of it just fighting for that measly 100 bucks. I fought out of principle and they finally gave it to me when I was able to produce the original flyer showing they were combinable, but I was absolutely astonished how far they were willing to fight me to not give me that stupid 100 bucks.

Thats what NCL did to me. Thanks to my fellow Cruise Critic members for helping me out and having the promo I booked so I can show Vivian Ewart, She went as far as to only copy and paste what she wanted me to see without the Cirque dinner included

Every email was also CC'd to Andy Stuart!

    It was truly disgusting!

They never did apologize or admit they made a mistake.

To me that is not a leadership team!

I hope they turn things around and start thinking about the customers.

  3. It was one of the four promos at the time and our NCL rep we spoke with several times assured us we would get to see it. I questioned going with RCCL to the rep as I was speaking with him as the itinerary and destination were basically the same. He abruptly said No Way and his supervisor won't allow it either. I rebutted so "You'll let me walk, cancel my reservation with NCL and go to one of your main competitors all over a dinner show reservation that was originally included and promised, without a hesitation from him came an immediate yes. How awful to lure you in but in the end they won't give it to you. Heaven forbid they honor the reservations already booked for months like ours, but oh no. There was no indication this was going to happen, this could very well be my first and last cruise. I'm am less than satisfied thus far as NCL will absolutely not honor or resolve this amicably with me and I'm sure many others. I have this overwhelming feeling I'm going to be "Nickel and Dimed" for everything in the end,I certainly hope that isn't going to be true.

Thank you for your reply and insight.

Sorry to hear that NCL is not going to honor the show. My I ask what date you book your cruise?

  4. Update - we just did!

We purchased UDP on 2/1 for our 9/5 GA cruise. Our dining window opened recently, so I went to book dinners - and Illusionarium was showing a charge.

Called NCL, rep had to put me on hold & talk to supervisor after which I was told "it's no longer included." I replied that wasn't an acceptable answer since I purchased a package that included it and that was one of the main reasons I purchased.

Rep went back to supervisor and came back saying "sorry, not grandfathered" to which I replied "Sorry, I'm still not accepting that answer" and she went back to supervisor again.

Next response was "package has changed and price has gone up, as a courtesy your price wasn't raised, but the show is not included" to which I replied "changes made after I purchased the package do not change my purchase, which included Illusionarium on the first night and that's what I expect to receive."

Back to supervisor, with several "sorry it's taking so long" check-ins, but finally, 45 minutes later, we have Illusionarium complimentary on the first night!

So, if you purchased your UDP before the changes were made and are told no show, do not take no for an answer!

Oh - and we were also able to book Cagney's online. :)

Glad you did not take no for an answer. I will let you know how the show is, we sail at the end of the month :)

  5. Only reason I'm glad to be home is my husband and son otherwise I would love to be back on it and was sorry for it to end. I know u have the same steward Owen he was great loved him. Best steward we ever had. Asked for robes got them right away asked for more pillows got then 10 minutes later. Worked very hard always available.

Great! I can't wait to meet him.

  6. The thing is you are not taking a side in regards to the issue at hand...it appears your 'issue' is with people expressing their opinion. There is a huge difference between the two.

The threads can continue for those that wish to discuss the different sides on any given topic. For those that just want to criticize their fellow CC members and their opinions perhaps it is time to move along.

    Rochelle

    Thank you Rochelle.

  7. If you don't care why read this thread? Certainly no one is forcing you.

Also the people complaining DO CARE. This is why they are complaining. They have a history with NCL and want it to be the best it can be. Without passenger feedback NCL would have no way of knowing what is working and what isn't. Those that really don't care say nothing.

    Well said.

  8.
I booked our upcoming (June 6th) cruise at the end of March, and was told by an NCL rep on live chat that it was no longer included free. When we made our reservations we had to pay the regular price but I'm still hearing that some people are getting it for free. I noticed that they changed the UDP terms a while back and it currently shows no discount for paid shows for sailing before July 3rd this year and a 20% discount for sailings after July 3rd. Kind of upsets me that some are still getting included for free on current sailings
It upsets me as well. I really had to fight for it. Because of my ordeal I booked my first cruise on another cruise line. NCL is showing no respect or compassion for their cruisers. I have my cruise on June 28th I hope they pull it together by then.

  10. I with you. We are high "players" in the casino and they recently took away the Cagney's breakfast and lunch perk. We swallowed that.

We also like to take some food to the cabin from the buffet. Even if room service was free, it would not meet our needs.

Sadly, we will just move along. Not a threat or bitch. Just the way it is.

Now I know why I haven't seen you on the NCL boards lately.

I just booked my first Royal Caribbean cruise through the Casino :)
