One last question, and I might post this on the Gulf Coast board as well -- it was suggested that you could find a porter when you get off the ship in Galveston at the end of your cruise. A tip will get you through Customs and to your waiting shuttle quicker. We like to carry our own luggage off the ship, so can we still use a porter to help us in this way?
Any help is greatly appreciated!
There is a line for porters in the cruise terminal. If you are carrying your own luggage just get in the customs line ASAP.

main dining room, appetizer-Escargots Bourguignonne
On my last cruise there was an escargot shortage, I am SO looking forward to this in March.

I'd go downtown and skip the tourist trap mall at the pier
Go to the beach, then do a little shopping at either place. San Miguel is ok, but it's not like it's a "can't miss" experience.

Sleep Inn & Suites, south of the airport in Dania Beach, where we have stayed twice is a cheaper alternative to higher priced places in the area. Cruise shuttle too, but we didn't use it.

Dang it, if i'd have gotten credit for my Rhapsody of the Seas cruise I cancelled in 2004 at the late minute due to an emergency I'd be Emerald instead of crappy Platinum. What a rip! I want my gift basket!!! WAH!!!
Funny thing is, a lot of us cruise yearly or so and in the long run those measly few points that some of the posters are complaining about won't even matter.

Does anyone else have a preference to which way the bed is in the cabin. I just called and changed my room cause I like it when my side of the bed is closest to the balcony. Does anyone else do this, or am I just weird lol!
I get to sleep on the balcony side no matter which way the bed is. DW prefers bathroom side. How we sleep at home has no bearing on how we sleep on trips. So, I guess we're weird too, but in a different way.

Tell you what, the speedos were out in full force on my two Oasis of the Seas cruises.
I am 57, but i prefer the longer style mens swim shorts that are popular today. Prouder of my beer gut than I am of my bird legs.

I'm not made of money so i'd only book a JS if the deal was really good. I mean, really good. Otherwise it's a regular balcony for me.

It would be ironic if the person who can't for the life of them understand how an adult person can forget a bag......forgets their bag on their Navigator cruise.
We can only hope.
As a former member of the "I never forget my bag club" I can speak from experience.
On the last night of one cruise we were packing and I slid one of the packed bags back under the bed because it was in the way. Needless to say I didn't realize it until the next day in the cruise terminal. It basically took an act of congress to let me back on the ship without a sea pass card to get my bag.

A number of years ago, Royal Caribbean did either an 11 day or 12 day out of Galveston down to the Panama Canal. I would love to see them bring that itinerary back.
Right, when the Rhapsody of the Seas was first in Galveston. i think it even did an Aruba & Curacao itinerary briefly too or maybe it stopped there on the Panama Canal cruise. I can't remember.

Thanks Bob. And I like the other posters idea of getting there early for the
70s show...that sounds like a plan ;)
Another option is to sit in the Schooner Bar along the rail to see the show.

A group 25 or more is too large to deal with MTD. Traditional dining is the way to go assuming everyone wants to eat together .
Wow, this sounds like trying to round up a herd of cats.

We had fun riding the Rising Tide once, but it's a novelty, similar to the carousel (except you can drink while riding), and probably not the most deciding factor in selecting a ship to cruise on.
I'd agree, most everybody does the Rising Tide at least once a cruise and it is an attraction, but it's definitely not the main attraction of the ship in my opinion.

At St. Thomas where is the best beach and how do we get there and for that matter how do we get to any where once the ship drops us off, whats to do and see there? tips?
I'm answering one question. Been to Magen's Bay and been to Sapphire Beach. There are "shuttles" near the ship that wait until they are full and they'll take you to either place. Coming back from Sapphire the shuttles stop at a look-out point for some great photo opportunities.
I liked Sapphire better, but others liked Magen's Bay better. The water at Sapphire is amazing.

Don't fret, you'll be able to find somewhere to drink before, during and after sailaway.

1. promenade deck
2. free, but need show ticket
3. don't know, sorry.

Mine to start:
Practical: Make the Solarium a bit more open air. I'm sure it's a challenge being at the front of the ship with wind considerations, but as beautiful as it is, it just seems a bit closed up to me.
I like the Solarium the way it is, but as far as my changes go.....
I wish there was a "terrace" outside the Windjammer towards the aft with
outside seating. The Grand Princess had a terrace deck near the buffet
and we always ate breakfast & lunch out there.

Both times we were fogged out of port in Galveston it happened in January.
Keeping our finger crossed for March 9th.

You can have ours, they just waste space.

Cpt Claus likes to back in everywhere so starboard would get the harbor view.
Cpt. Claus must not be a woman. :D
Sorry, ladies.

So, now we have pics of the medical facility. ]
Thanks, it's a place that i've only heard about(knock on wood), but hope we never have to visit.

We've done a Promenade before. That whole parade thing is overrated. Privacy really isn't an issue either, I mean who doesn't close their drapes?
Nudists?
We just found the room a tad smaller than what we were used to.
I vote Oasis!!!

we spend our evenings in Dazzles, live band and a good mix of music.
That's where we were. Dazzles.

So you're okay with a specialty restaurant for an additional charge, but adding even more premium selections with an additional charge is a no-no. I'm sorry, but that seems like a double standard.
Double standard? It's more like double pricing.

Since they got rid of the coffee table they might as well get rid of the frig(fridge) too. It is sort of useless. Just make the empty space
more storage.
