  1. I mentioned in this forum the name of my tailor a while ago and it was promptly deleted. Give me your email address and I shall respond directly.

But USD500 for a suit is about the right price here. Generally, visitors come to praise the quality here, not that price is particularly, and the quick turnaround time (1 day). I always ask for 2 fittings.

    Thanks. My email is jules13@me.com

  2. Sorry, I just realized you will be in Hong Kong before the cruise. You might ask the hotel staff for a recommendation. The other option is to post your question on Trip Advisors.

Thank you for your posts, I'll give Trip Advisor a try :)

  3. My husband is considering having a suit made in Hong Kong before we start our cruise in mid February. Has anybody any recent experience or advice/tips on the best area to look etc? Many thanks.

  4. Can anyone tell me what happens if you meet your private tour guide outside the port gates please? Do you just walk out or do you have to go through more security checks? Just wondering how easy it is, as we are not overly keen on sending our passport details via the internet for the port permits. Thanks.

  5. Can anyone advise me of their experiences of tour operators/guides for a city tour of HCMC please? I have contacted several companies and their prices range massively from each other, from what appears to be a very similar tour? Many thanks.

  6. Thanks for the helpful replies :). I also wondered if anyone can recommend any tour companies? (Am I allowed to ask for recommendations on the forum?) The ones I have replies from vary greatly in prices quoted, for what seem to be a similar tours. We are looking at a general city tour of HCMC as none of our party have visited before.

  7. Can anyone give me an idea of transfer times between Phu My and Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) please? I have contacted some private tour companies and some quote 1 hour and some quote 2+ hours. Many thanks.

  8. Many thanks for the very helpful replies :D. We have a private trip organised and are being met at 8.15am. Wanted to be prepared should we be tendered, so it's good to know we will be docked.

  9. We are on the Coral Princess 9th July cruise and will be in Ketchikan on the 11th from 6.30am-2.00pm. Just wondered, if we are tendered, what time they may allow passengers to start leaving the ship?

  10. Hi,

We will be onboard the Millennium in February 2017 on the South East Immersion Cruise. Can anyone tell me how to find out if the ship will be tendered in Halong Bay please? We are looking at going into Hanoi on the first day and doing the Halong Bay boat trip in the morning of the following day, before we leave at 1300. I can't find any information on my paperwork saying it is tendered but I have read on some peoples reviews of the excursion, that it was easier doing the Celebrity organised trip, as the boats come to the ship and you don't have the hassle of the tendering. Thanks for any help.

  11. Could anyone please advise me on the boarding procedure, when the ship isn't leaving port on the same day? We are booked on the S E Asia Immersion Cruise in 2017 (Millennium) and board in Hong Kong on the Saturday, and do not leave port until Sunday evening. We have cruised several times before, but have always left port on the same day. Are passengers allocated boarding times? When can you leave the ship again to carry on sightseeing? When do they do the mustering?

I suppose what I'm really wondering is, if you get much quality time on the Saturday to go back into HK, or whether it's best to just enjoy the ship.

    Thanks for any info.

  12. Just wanted to say thank you for everyone's feedback, it was extremely helpful. My husband has said he doesn't think he would get value out of the AIBP as the beers he likes are "cask beers" which I don't think are too readily available on ships. Having said that, his favourite beer is Bellhaven which is brewed in a small town in Scotland and amazingly they had it on the Celebrity Constellation. So it will be coffee card(s) and then pay as we go along.

    Thank you again :).

  13. We have just booked our first cruise with Princess on the Coral to Alaska :D and would appreciate any advice on drinks packages please.

I only drink water, diluted cordial/juices, tea (Earl Grey, darjeeling, breakfast), and the odd Latte or Cappuccino. My husband likes water, any tea & coffee, beer, and a nice wine with dinner, but not spirits so not sure if the All Inclusive is for him? I like the idea of the card for the coffees, so do we purchase a card each, or can we use up one and then purchase another?

I'm sorry if the question sounds odd but having previously cruised with RC (Liberty & Independence) and Celebrity (Constellation), we have learnt that our drinks package needs vary from ship to ship. With RC I didn't need one, as most things I drink were complementary and easily accessible, but on the Connie I learnt that the only place I could get the inclusive Earl Grey Tea was in the buffet restaurant and was charged at all other venues for it. And the beers my hubby liked were not included in the drinks package, but we didn't realise until we were onboard. Duh!! We are learning as we go along and finding CC a great source of information.

    Thanks for any advice

  14. We are looking at booking an Alaska Cruise with Land Tour for July 2016. It will be our first cruise with Princess, having cruised with RCCL and Celebrity so far. We plan on doing the 7 night cruise and 5 night land tour.

We would appreciate any advice on the land section as we can't decide if one itinerary is any better than another? Also, is the Connoisseur or the Denali Explorer more preferable? Star, Island or Coral Princess are the 3 ship choices and all look very nice but not sure if one is better than another. Thanks for any thoughts :)

  15. If you booked under the 123Go promotion, the Ts & Cs are still showing on the Celebrity UK website. The drinks package and pre-paid gratuities are offered on Europe cruises booked before the end of July. They are also offering 25 extra Captain Club points on cruises which depart more than nine months ahead of your reservation date, but you don't get the points until you have completed the cruise.

We booked our cruise in March and just updated it when 123 Go was launched (got drinks package, OBC and lower cruise price:)) so our deposit was already paid, but as far as I can see, there is no reduced deposit available in the UK.

    Hope this helps

I hope you don't mind me asking, but when you say you booked your cruise in March and updated it when the 123 Go was launched, was there any loss of monies? We have a cruise booked for 2017 and we've been told the only way to get the promotion now would be to cancel the original booking and lose our £300 deposit, and then re-book with the promotion.

Thanks for any advice or information.

  16. Yes we might have - where are you from as we met lots of people along the way. You must have booked Aqua class - we got one of last two cabins on ship - concierge but to be quite honest not much benefits. Loved that deck 10 bar!

We are from Lincolnshire. We met up with a large group from the CC roll call in the bar on deck 10, at sail away on day 1. We particularly enjoyed sitting there when leaving Dubrovnik by moonlight!!

We have booked balcony cabins on our next cruises as I'm a bit claustrophobic. Although we enjoyed Aqua and all the freedom and food that Blu had to offer, we didn't use the spa at all. So we feel for us, it does not justify the price difference. Really loved the ship, itinerary and most of the staff :)

  17. We also found most of the staff friendly and helpful but you will see we too had a bad experience with GR and someone called Lorna who looked straight past us while speaking to her.

Our favourite part of the ship was the bar on deck 10 watching leaving ports and the sun going down - staff there just great.

We probably crossed paths as we too enjoyed the sunset from the bar on deck 10! The waiters were so friendly and funny, and even entertaining people with a few tricks :). The staff in Blu were great and our cabin attendants were the best yet!

  18. We were on this cruise, our first with Celebrity. We found almost all the crew and staff to be really friendly, helpful and welcoming ……… with the exception of Guest Relations!! They were rude, arrogant and dreadfully inefficient!! There was an error made at the port with the credit card registered to our onboard accounts, so we went to GR to get it rectified before we even left Rome. The young girl on the desk supposedly corrected it and all should have been well. Several days later, we discovered that it hadn't so we went back to try sort it out again. A different girl couldn't have been more rude and her "couldn't give a dam" attitude was awful. She was more interested in singing and dancing along to the music from upstairs, and she clearly didn't believe that we had already been on Day 1 to sort it out. Only when we relayed the procedure/form signing that we had gone through, did she realise we weren't lying. She then said she had rectified it and all was well. I didn't have very much faith in her so I requested someone more senior deal with it. She reluctantly rang a lady called Connie and she promised all would be well and she would meet us at 8am the next morning to reassure us. So we went down yet again and surprise surprise, it was still wrong! Connie was incredibly embarrassed and very, very apologetic about the whole thing but she finally sorted it all out properly. It left a very nasty taste, especially after having such lovely service from most other places.

  19. I booked a cruise with Celebrity...within two weeks of my booking they were offering $300 per stateroom and free drinks......Do you think that I would stand chance of asking the company to add these promotion to my booking ?

Has anybody ever asked ? I know it may be a bit of a cheek but I do feel aggreived that I have lost out because I booked early.

We had exactly the same situation as you, and so our TA rang and queried it with Celebrity. She was told that the only way we could do it was by cancelling our original booking with a loss of £300 deposit, and make a brand new booking which would then include the promotion. She also asked what would happen if we chose to change the cruise to an entirely different cruise, and Celebrity said that would cost us £75pp administration charge. They said it was because we are booking from the UK.

  20. We are new to Celebrity, having previously cruised on RC Independence and Liberty. We are looking at booking a cruise in February in Southeast Asia, on the Millennium and are looking at the 2A, B or C balcony cabins but are unsure which to go for. I have looked at the CC cabin reviews but just wondered if anyone could give anymore advice regarding noise/bigger balconies etc?

    Many thanks.
