The first day and evening on board is always such a blur…unpacking, exploring, and discovering our favorite books and crannies on board.  We hadn’t slept very well the night before so we opted for spontaneous reservations at Pacific Rim and called it an early evening by 9pm.

But not before finding the Meridian Lounge and their cocktails.  I intend to work my way through the menu but I wanted to give you a look at my first try, a Spicy and Passion.  It was a bit sweet for my taste but if you took a bit of the hot and salty rim, the cocktail neared perfection.

Pacific Rim was lovely and I had a real problem deciding what I wanted.   I should have insisted on a sampler plate but I didn’t want to wear out my welcome on the first night.   So, I opted for sushi and Korean lamb chops.  Georges had the miso sea bass and wolfed it down before even offering me a taste!  How did I train him?  F91EB508-BC9D-41EF-9E1F-03FDEE468FAF.thumb.jpeg.b987324f045890274fbabcde1b11a6c3.jpeg

Catalina today.  Our tour “Sealife Safari” was cancelled so we opted for the “Undersea Expedition”.  Stay tuned!

Thank you for your amazing reviews. I must admit, I was reading this to my husband and when he heard about your heroic attempt to make it through the drink menu, he asked if there was a picture. I laughed and told him yes, there is a picture of an empty glass.  😂😂😂

Enjoy every moment of your trip.   We must wait for our first Regent trip till October.....

David reverted to one of his favourite tipples for our last night on Splendor; a simple Gin Martini

Yet again we enjoyed the music of Kasia & Boogie

I hope you drank half of the martini or it is a major low tide!!!!

I have no memory of large groups on Regent. We had a small (around 50 people) alumni group on a Navigator cruise that had no impact on our experience. A few years  ago we had a very large, around 330 people, alumni group on our first Crystal cruise. Our cruise was impacted as key rooms were used day and night. The group on sea days took the theater for programing and we were stuck in a bar/dance area for our lectures. When their meetings were over, 330 people rushed for lunch at one time. We had  trouble finding a table and we had lines for most lunches. This was the only cruise we  have regrets taking. It impacted our experience so for us Crystal was one and done. I blame Crystal for choosing to give us non group people a second class experience.

So now I am looking at a Regent, Istanbul to Athens June 21st to July 3rd 2023. Found out through a google search the same group is on this cruise. How does Regent handle large groups? Would they allow a third or more of the ship to one group? Will this are group have access to the best rooms at the best times? Looking at another itinerary. Am I wrong?

We are booked on this cruise also.  We are now looking at other options.  Definitely do not want to be on the ship that is taken over by a large group.

  4. Could anyone let us know when you are able to sign up for the Cooking classes aboard the Splendor?

I thought it was the same time we had signed up for the excursions.  It has been awhile since we have signed up for anything. Thank you in advance.

"Darn" - I would imagine you might be interested in the table games?  That would involve way too much intellectual labor for me!  😵  My "game" is the slots with no thinking involved..."Max Bet, Spin"...."Max Bet, Spin"...sip of scotch..."Max bet, Spin"....And it doesn't have to be one of the newer ships, either!  October 2019...Navigator...."Max bet, Spin....Bang!....$1,500!!!  Followed by 2 sips of scotch!!  🤪

Pingpong 1, we are about 8 miles west of you.  We are booked on the Splendor in October 2022, after three cancelled cruises on the Splendor.  This will be our first cruise with Regent.  Wednesday we are hoping to book two more, one on the new Lady.

We are booked on the October 11 "Glories of Spain" cruise. Is that the one you are on?

Carol, Yes we are on "Glories of Spain" but we are on for 22 days.  "Glories of Spain" and "Mediterranean Autumn" that the 22 day portion that is called "Spanish Marvels & Venetian Dreams".  Hope that makes sense.

(Barcelona 10/11/22 to Barcelona 10/23/22 to Venice 11/2/22)

This will be our first actual cruise with Regent, we have had three cancelled cruises due to Covid.

We have cruised on Norwegian (Alaska) and Celebrity (Mexico) and we are scheduled to be on the Western Mediterranean cruise in April with Regent that will include the Canary Islands and Morocco. For those of you that have been on this cruise, are there specific excursions that you would recommend? I appreciate your input.

Will be following for answers, as we are going to those cities in October 2022.

    For clarity:

    • Caviar & champagne is available during breakfast service in both Compass Rose & La Veranda on all Regent ships every Sunday.
    • The gastronomic extravaganza that is "Sunday Brunch" is only on Splendor & Explorer and only when Sunday is a sea day - usually a maximum of one event per cruise even if there are two Sundays that fall on sea days.

flossie009, we will be on Splendor for 22 days, what happens if all the Sundays are in port?  Do they still offer the Sunday Brunch? Or will we be out of luck?

    Hi Boats07,

Yes, we leave from Barcelona on October 11 and return to Barcelona on October 23,

you must be continuing on to Venice... very nice. We have had two two cruises canceled

because of COVID and we canceled a third because we did not want to be  the first

ship out. Maybe we will meet on board or on an excursion.

    Looking forward to it!!

Thank you Flossie, you were a big help. WE are excited for this cruise and have plenty of time to plan and

    anticipate.

snorkle lover we may be on the same cruise, Oct 11th-Nov 2nd.  We have had 3 cruises cancelled due to Covid.  So glad we booked this cruise.  We took the 2 category upgrade from a Concierge E to the Penthouse B.  The only suite left was on level 6.  We are more than fine with that.

My husband and I paid a total of $350.00 in Air Deviation Fees for Regent flights for our September cruise.  If Regent cancels this cruise, do the Air Deviation Fees get refunded along with your deposit?

Yes, we have had three crises canceled and each Air Deviation Fee was applied back to our credit card.  It took a month or two to show up.

  12. Was looking at cruisemapper.com and noticed Regent Seven Seas Cruises Coronavirus update

Had not seen the statement Fleetwide operations are currently planned to resume on June 1, 2021.

NCLH's entire fleet (all vessels of the brands NCL-Norwegian, Oceania and RSSC-Regent Seven Seas) is with an expanded cancellation policy. All bookings on pre-scheduled itineraries (departures March 14, 2020, through May 31, 2021) were given the option to cancel (up to 48 hours prior departure) without penalties.

Eventually, NCLH canceled all RSSC cruises leaving between March 14, 2020, and May 31, 2021. Fleetwide operations are currently planned to resume on June 1, 2021.

All affected bookings received a full refund (100%) in FCC (future cruise credit) transferred to a booking made within 1 year (any itinerary, fleetwide) from the cancelled departure date. RSSC's Regent Reassurance policy was expanded to offer penalty-free cancellations (for any reason) up to 15 days prior departure with full refunds (100%) in FCC.

We have a cruise booked for April 8th in the Med aboard the Splendor.  Called our TA to just check if we could have the two category upgrade.  Regent told our TA the cruise is Sold Out....... We can only hope, if it doesn't go, it will be our third canceled cruise.  We will then keep looking and book something else.

Well that was wishful thinking on our part...... We are now 3 for 3 on cancelled cruises......
