  1. Carnival, like any business, would love to get your money before you even board a ship. If everyone paid their gratuities up front that is some $30,000 per ship, for every ship that sails, in Carnivals coffers earning interest long before they have to spend it.

I know right? That eighth of a cent that I lose in interest sure does sting.

  2. Doesn't matter to me how they do it now or how they used to do it, doesn't matter to me what VIFP level I am or anyone else is. I go on CCL because I like the product and I like the price. The sea days add up over time, everyone that cruises CCL will either be diamond or dead at some point, don't stress the journey.

  3. My ratings on the gifts (just my opinion)

    1. Tumblers. Use them all the time

    2. Toiletry bag. Great for packing.

    3. Beach bag with the cooler on the bottom

    4. Hats

    5. The game. Never used

I am pretty close, swap out hat for the game, my head is too big for any off the rack hat. :P

We pack the game board for every cruise now, we find a bar that's closed and go in and play yahtzee, cards, backgammon, checkers and chess using the game board and pieces. We have spent a bunch of time doing this the last few cruises.

  4. I love the Fantasy and hate to see her leave Charleston, I have done 11 cruises on her, a couple 7 days, a couple 4 days and the rest 5 days. I love the casino, the crew and the kitchen has the best product of the fleet IMHO.

Mobile better treat her good because she will always have a home to come back to in Charleston.

  5. Blue Iguana on Sunshine is WAY better than Burrito Bar on Dream. And I liked the Dreams Burrito Bar, Blue Iguana has far more choices, has the salsa bar with all kinds of choices, but what really sets Blue Iguana apart is the fact that it opens for breakfast, Hovous Rancheros were good and the breakfast burritos were my favorite breakfast option on the ship.

Yes, exactly what he said. Cantina is best breakfast on the ship.

  6. Do ships that have the burrito bar before 2.0 dry dock keep the burrito bar after Blue Iguana is added? Some of the deck plans just have a blank space where burrito bar used to be, and some show both burritos and Blue Iguana. It doesn't seem to be an upgrade to just rebrand the burritos and reduce the number of dining options.

Blue Iguana Tequila Bar and Blue Iguana Cantina are 2 different 2.0 upgrades. I would imagine if they were replacing the Burrito Bar it would be replaced with the Blue Iguana Cantina. That's just a guess tho.

  7. I will pass on this el cheapo bag. If anyone wants to claim

, please let me know. This is first class cheesy ugly. You can clsim it.

I take it you spend more time on here causing hate and discontent than you actually do on a cruise ship, that bag was 3 gifts ago (about a year). It has a hook to hang it in the bathroom with all your toiletries in it....Most everyone I know uses theirs on every cruise and I use one of mine every day to hold all my electronics/batteries/chargers in.

  8. Does anyone know what side of the ship the Red Frog Pub is on the

Carnival Pride. When I sail I want to be the first one there so I can get

the free glass of beer. I think they show your picture on the TV all

day long. Pretty Cool! HAPPY SAILING!!!

Go to carnival web site and look at floor plans, I would look for you but my internet is very slow today.

  9. Based on what I have witnessed, Carnival would need to be tossing a dozen or more passengers each sailing and would not make a dent in the behavior issues. However, they are now at least taking some steps to curb the flow of hard liquor brought onto the ships. They should do more and still have room for improvement.

24 cruises and I have never seen anything bad enough to warrant being kicked off the ship, haven't ever even seen anything that would warrant even calling security. I am sure that some misbehave, just nowhere near as often as you make it out to be.

  10. You know what? I have cruised with Royal Caribbean cruise line 3 times but it's not my favorite cruise line so you will almost never find me posting on Royal Caribbean cruise critic threads because I just don't go there. I'm really curious why a person would want to spend time at the Carnival cruise critic threads if they have absolutely no desire to cruise with carnival? The only time I have found myself posting at such a thread is when I was just looking at the most recent postings section. Is that what happened to you? Or do you simply have such malevolence towards Carnival that you feel you must seek out their customers and talk them into going to other cruise lines?

    Exactly.

  11. I can beat that one! this was crazy!!! we were in the casino last month and a young girl late 20s i would guess, walks by us, sits on a chair and puts out a joint in her open cigarette package flap

casino bartenders started with, " do you smell that weed, weed" and were looking everywhere, she then popps around our corner, snuffs it out and lights a cigarette, nothing was ever done about it that was saw... i dont think they ever found out who it was

how do they get it on the ship iwth such screening??

Nobody really cares about weed anymore. Certainly she shouldn't have been smoking it in the casino, but what did you want them to do? Give her a ticket?

  12. It's happened to me, and I can assure you, Carnival, and it's employees have a policy of not helping out, or enforcing their rules. One, of several reasons why I will not step foot on a Carnival ship again! However, I enjoy sharing my experiences, and encourage you if you can, to find a cruise line that cares.

Luckily there are lots of pleasant experiences to be shared also, 22 cruises with CCL and I have never had a problem with anything.

  13. Carnival will give you a DOU card for the casino only when you have accumulated 1500 points playing - usually by the second day at most. They usually also send chocolate covered strawberries and at higher play levels bottles of wine at dinner and at the end of a cruise, if you meet the right level, you may be offered a free cruise. Just let your casino waiter know when you hit 1500 and he will give you the DOU card - which is actually a sticker on your cruise card. After that you can have a free drink every 15 minutes or so - although that would be a bit much. LOL! I usually ordered 1 umbrella drink per day as I don't like to be drunk when I'm gambling.

The 1500 points is based on play ($4500 ran through the machine), if you play slots and play 10 cents a spin you may never get one. The casino host will give you the DOU card and it's an actual card, not a sticker.

  14. My wife and I were recently in the Elation July2015 and had an unexpected yet delightful expirience! First evening in the casino I hit for $2500.00 thinking cool good start! Next morning my wife and I were both well over the 1500 points required for free drinks in the casino but both having cheers card the perk was a moot point we said not a problem and kept playing. I hit for another $1000.00 the manager comes up and says Mr. Leasman we realize you have the cheers card so we would like to offer you and your wife a steak house selection dinner and a bottle of wine compliments of the casino!!! We said thank you very much that it was most kind and above there requirements as it was a $100.00 value. After dinner that evening we went back to our room to relax before the show, diner was amazing by the way wine we saved for a later date, and there were chocolate covered strawberries and a note from the casino manager for my wife saying he hoped we enjoyed dinner and our wine. The next evening I hit another $1000.00 pot in the casino and life was great! We placed all our winning on our S&S account covering all purchases on the cruise and basically paying for the cruise and hotel itself! When we re entered our room that night there was a letter from the hat trick casino saying as a valued guest of the casino please enjoy a free cruise on them (inside cabin) so the wife started dancing!!! So we are going to Jamaica in November for the cost of port fees it will be a nice getaway for us in between family cruises this next year!

    Magic Feb2015 (sailed)

    Elation Jul2015 (sailed)

    Dream Nov2015 (booked)

    Triumph Jan2016 (booked)

That's all normal casino host behavior. Comps are based on slot play and points earned, I had pretty much the same results last month on the Fantasy with no wins at all. LOL

  15. i dont buy the Cheers program.

Its way to costly and I wont ever drink more then 15 a day.

I do think they should add specialty coffees to the program

Earlier this month on day 1 of a cruise, they sold me a frozen mochaccino with Baileys at the coffee bar for the price of the mochaccino and "Cheers" took care of the liquor.

On day 2 they said they couldn't sell me the liquor at all and I had to go to another bar to get the liquor, seemed kind of silly as the bottle was sitting right there.
