  1. Yes, you need cell service or the internet:

    Q. Can Zello run without Internet or phone data service?

    A. No, Zello requires Internet service using either WiFi or cellular data of at least 2G.

also read this about zello tips during a disaster:

"If there is no WiFi and no cellular data service, communication apps (including Zello) won’t work. However, this may not be an issue because, historically, mobile data networks have often remained at least partially operational, even after a severe disaster. Cellular towers include battery or generator backup power, which lets them stay online for at least 2 hours, even after grid power is lost."

The part after the "However.." might explain why it worked in Florida. Looks like it might work if you can access the ships wifi.

    Thanks for the update.

I also like it because it chirps out loud and hearing someone’s voice catches my attention more than hearing the phone ring or vibrate.

  2. It is allowed without question, but you might want to take a closer look at the Carnival boards about the tux and formal gown, those are rarely seen on CCL.

Well if you are on the 11/11 sailing of the Sensation, you will see formal attire. Our 8 person group is going formal since we never get to dress up [emoji5]

  3. Thanks so much for all the helpful replies so far! All of us booked the cruise online, and none of us know of this mysterious PIN number. Will everyone need to individually contact Carnival to get a PIN before we can accomplish this linkage?

Thanks again. You guys just rock.

Yes, everyone needs to call and get a pin, then one person can call to link them all together. I usually keep a spreadsheet of everyone's pins, and cabin numbers for just this reason.

  4. Ok we ended up splurging and doing the Chef's Table... DO IT!! It was SOOO WORTH IT!! Everybody DO IT! :D They were even so accommodating to people with dietary restrictions. My husband doesn't eat any seafood, and he is allergic to tomatoes and we let them know and they made alternate versions of everything for him that didn't include any seafood or tomato.

I am glad that you did and that you enjoyed it! I can’t wait, we have 16 days ! [emoji5][emoji7][emoji5]

  5. I've done the snuba excursion through Carnival twice at Grand Turk and really enjoyed it.

I also snorkel from the beach, which is right there by the pier. We had surprisingly good luck snorkeling in front of Margaritaville and Jack's Shack the last time; there were more fish to see than on my previous visits. Ironically the less-developed beach area to the right (south) of the pier was disappointing.

I also try to pay a visit to Jack's Shack (a short walk down the beach from Margaritaville) to say hi to the proprietors and to their dog Topher, who is probably the most famous canine in the Caribbean. :)

Thanks so much.. .We have heard that Jack's Shack is awesome.

  6. How do I find out about the chef's table dinner? I am going on a sensation Cruise in 2018 and would like some info.

Which sensation Cruise are you taking? I am going on the 5 day Western Caribbean.

We are doing the 6 day Western Caribbean. I will report back after Nov 16. In the meantime, search the forum (from a desktop or iPad) for Chefs Table in the title and there are 2 or 3 reviews with pictures.

From what I gathered, it’s 3 hours long, comes with a tour of the galley kitchen, wine, wine and more wine, your name will be on the souvenir menu, they take a group photo and give you a cookbook. I’m with a group of 4 couples and we are doing formal dress, so this will be the cherry on top !

  7. Well I think we've decided not to do it this time. We do want to take another cruise sometime, so we will keep it in mind to do next time! Maybe on a longer cruise where a break from the MDR will be more wanted, lol :)

Well, I will let you know how it was because we are definitely going and are looking forward to it [emoji5]

  8. What other cut backs specifically? I noticed that the included items on room service has been reduced dramatically, I think you used to be able to order a pizza for free. Any other cutbacks ?

When you order roses, they no longer include baby's breath to fill out the bouquet, plus the roses seem to be tired quite quickly, no lobster on 5-day elegant night, the Andes chocolate with evening turn-down, the room service choice, fewer room stewards, waaaayyyy too few bartenders (shocking, since alcohol is such a huge cash cow), and often times someone on the wait staff seems anxious to not only provide service but needs to be sure supervisors know it too. Like I said before, carnival still makes us happy, it's just noticeable that cost cutting measures are afoot. And then a catastrophic blow to everybody doing business in the Caribbean - so sad!

Thanks for answering. I am kind of bummed about the lobster on elegant night... We are on a 5 night in Nov, so I guess we get screwed. What's so elegant about the meal without the lobster??? I am glad that we booked the Chef's Table so that we can have something to make us feel special.

  9. I've never had my S&S left in the room that's new to me. So how do you get drinks when you board and rooms aren't ready yet? Last time we went you couldn't even get in the areas of the room? Trust me I'm going to need a drink asap .. lol [emoji23] we have a early boarding time too.

They said that they use your boarding pass and ID until you get your card.

I’m trying to arrange a private cocktail party on board. We have 8 people cruising. Would your group be interested? It’s open bar with snacks for 2 hours.

  10. Hi all,

I sailed on the Carnival Conquest on 08/26 and did the Chef's Table. It was an AWESOME experience and I would most definitely recommend it.

I will post pics of the menu as well as pics of all of the courses.

We all met at the atrium bar and was given champagne. We then took a tour of the galley where we were given appetizers and was shown how to make Warm Chocolate Melting Cake.

    Here are the pics

  11. I actually DID eat pizza on RC and found it to be inedible. I'd give it a 3 out of 10. CCL is better, but not very good anymore. Loved the old pizza and menu, the new not so much. I'd give it a scant 5.

If you check availabilities, Carnival cruises are pretty much sold out - the annoying cutbacks they've made don't seem to be affecting their bookings yet. We've been loyal and frequent cruisers since 2004, so far we still like Carnival cruising enough to keep at it . . . . but the cutbacks are very noticeable to long time cruisers. I think the newbies won't even notice.

  12. Thank you for your review ! We leave 11/11/17 [emoji4] would you say this is a good cruise for 1st timers? Me and my mom have been on plenty ,but my sisters, aunt and cousin is 1st time. Is there highs and lows ,things we should definitely show them? I've been on different ships and this will be the smallest & older, but I'm going in with a great attitude with out disappointment [emoji6]

We are on that same 11/11 sailing. I’m glad that the OP reminded us about the S&S cards being in the rooms now. I read that awhile back but had forgotten.

  13. We are on the Conquest sailing on October 14th. It was Grand Turk, La Romana, Curacao, and Aruba.

They have switched Grand Turk to Amber Cove.

We received an email telling us of the switch and that excursions for Amber Cover would be available for purchase onboard the ship. I kept watching anyhow and about 3 days later (this was like 1 week and half ago or so), they popped up. I snagged a Cabana in Amber Cover (we had one booked for Grand Turk originally).

Thank you !! Have a great time this weekend!

  14. We got a change to our cruise in October, and the email we received said excursions would be available for purchase on board the ship. I kept checking every day though, and sure enough, the excursions came up about 3 days after I received that email.

I am glad I kept watching because we wanted a cabana and they always sell out... which they did in about 2 days.

So, just kept checking back, I would bet they will show up soon.

What were your original ports and what did they change to? We are booked for Amber Cove and Grand Turk in early November and I am curious as to what the change will be.

  15. we were supposed to go to Jamaica, Amber cove, and grand turk last week. Carnival changed our itinerary four days before we embarked. Amber cove and grand turk were replaced with grand Cayman and cozemel. From what I heard on the ship carnival will not be visiting Amber cove or grand turk for a couple of months at least. I am not sure if they will make this same change with your cruise in November but there are few islands left that are not damaged from hurricanes

Thank you !! I am hoping they take us to Jamaica and Grand Cayman . We have been to Cozumel twice [emoji30][emoji30]
