The first time we used Celebrity website in 2013 it was O.K. the next year alright. Then it seems to have gone downhill with each re-incarntion. We have just booked Panama Canal cruise for September this year have logged into My Celebrity, obviously we are too early to do online check in but we cannot add passport details or any other fresh information. The idea of online is so that we do not have to waste everyones precious time on the phone expecially is it is a premium number we have to call. (Well thats me vented) Oh also another thing us U.K. sailors cannot evenn order luggage tags now

We really enjoyed the shoes on the Eclipse but she is not sailing put of southampton this year it is the silhouette shame

Have celebrity dispensed with the glass blowing on their Solstice class ships? Anyone know?

We are on the xmas / new year Cruise on Thursday, we have been notified that they are doing a deep clean, so a later departure!, hopefully this will sort the problem out, we definitely don’t want ‘that’ over Xmas !

What with this and the switch around of 2 ports and being tendered in Madeira and not berthed taking a lot of the shine of the cruise even before we start. Wishing all the people who have the virus well and hoping the ship is cleaned,although I understand the previous cruise was also blighted.

Give me Blu every time. I think the dress code applies to all restaurants other than the buffet. The speciality restaurants are only good if you like what they specialise in;p

The OP's thoughts mirror mine. Being a second seating diner and wanting to enjoy some after dinner entertainment, the "late to bed and early to arise" routine that I often experience during a cruise usually leaves me needing a "vacation after my vacation".

 

Nonetheless, I still enjoy this routine, maybe because it is "different" from my daily one at home.

Because, as retired senior folks, you can "relax" whenever you want to now...so on vacation, you want to "live it up"! There actually can be "too much leisurely time"!

We sail Britannia this Christmas and I didn't know that you had to book your Xmas Day mealtimes. How do I do this and where should I have received details of this? I can log into my CP but unsure of what you mean in above message. We are set dining - if this makes a difference - late sitting.

As far as I understand if you are set dinning you are already booked it is only for freedom diners.

Finally was able to log in yesterday evening

Booked on Ventura this year for Xmas New Year cruise. Email from P&O with a URL to log on to give them our Christmas night and New Year's Eve meal times, still unable to log in after 2 days. Called P&O yesterday, luckily had freephone number and they say can only do this on lines and they could not get into it either. How many of you out there having the same problem and how do we get P&O to get it fixed. Not a good advert.

We are great fans of Celebrity. We are trying P& O Ventura for an Xmas New Year cruise simply because Celebrity don't go out of Southampton that time of year and Cunard much too expensive. Hope we haven't made a mistake!!!!!!!!:evilsmile:

I wanted to know of a U.K. company???

Any run through on boarding would be appreciated.

 

We are scheduled to board at 14:30 hours and have no intention of getting there before 14:00.

 

Plus we have a dog with us (and will be heavily laden with a lot of luggage - Cunard tell us we can bring as much as we can fit in our stateroom).

 

What happens once we board? Is is straight to our stateroom or do we go to a bar or get some food? All the advice says get to the pool as it's empty!!! What happens to bad etc and when is the emergency muster?

 

Any andvice or step by step walkthrough would help us know what to pack and where (and seriously we're moving to a ranch so we'll have wellies packed...)

If "travel" means to places where USD aren't the official currency or aren't widely accepted or are accepted at a premium - I'm thinking Europe, Asia, South America etc - then consider a card which doesn't charge foreign transaction fees. That's way better value than any exchange bureau etc for purchases in another currency

But cakes don't come with two cherries on top, so don't expect cash-backs, miles, etc with those cards.

We keep one no-foreign exchange-fees card just for international travel.

Can't help with which cards do that in the US, but your fellow-Americans can suggest a few.

 

We use cards only as charge-cards, we settle the balance each month by automatic bank transfer and avoid both fees and the punitive interest rates charged by card issuers. That's difficult if money is tight, but there are cheaper forms of credit.

Would be interested to hear who you use for your no foreign exchange fees card and if it is still available

We were on Eclips 4-18 June and show times were 7 p.m. and 9 p.m.

We were also on this cruise and thoroughly enjoyed it apart from one or two hiccups. This was our third time on Celebrity Eclipse and will miss it from next year as it will be based in Dublin and not Southampton during the summer season. We found the show times of 7p.m.and 9 p.m.meant that we only managed to see one during the cruise previous times of around 8 ish and 10 ish suitedus better. We are off on Cunards Queen Elizabeth at the end of the month to cruise Iceland and Fjords. Wishing your family well. Thanks for your review it enabled us to see parts we did not visit.

We too were on this cruise and it is amazing how different yours excursions so far are from ours. It is very interesting. Look forward to furher instalments.

I definitely think you'll have a great time seeing Bergen without an official (expensive!) tour :) According to the current schedule, QE will be alongside from 08:00 to 17:00...of course this could change, but they do tend to stick to these times.

Just took a look at the schedule looks like the port will be very busy that day 5 ships in port weare there for the shortest time but one of ships doesnt arrive until the afternoon

Its a shame that on U.S. passengers seem to get the chance to upgrade or change bookings without any loss. We love Aqua although your benefits have changed over the 4 years we have been cruising. Wehave loved the Eclipse sailed on her 4 times on different itineraries out of Southampton. Will miss her from next year and hope her sister ship is as good. We have usually liked Blu but the first night on our last cruise went to MDR as did not like what was on menu. The last night the other half saw someone eating Spaghetti Bolognnaise although it was not on the menu and asked and got same. If you dont ask you dont get as long as you are polite about it.

What a great thread. We a cruising on Queen Elizabeth arriving Bergen August 1st barring any unforeseen adjustments not sure of what time we arrive and leave all itinerary states is arrive early morning leave afternoon. We have booked quite a number of ships excursions (creditcard groaning) so hope we can do Bergen on our own which from some of your suggestions sounds very do-able. Can you glean any information about when and where our ship arrives. Thanks in advance

Just off Celebrity Eclipse we had the classic drinks package included in our deal. We were dissapointed as last time we had this (I think in October 2015) bailys was included and some of the alcohlic coffees but now they are at least $1 more, think limit is $11 now you only have to pay the difference though.
