  1. I have just had an official response:-

Response Via Email (CBP Officer) 03/25/2015 12:00 PM

    You may answer No.

Customer By Web Form (linda milton) 03/23/2015 05:19 PM

On the ESTA application form it asks for current or previous employer. As I have been retired for the last 6 years with no employment during this period, is it acceptable to answer 'no' to this question or should I list my last employer details?

    Thanks for everyone's advice.

May I ask was your application accepted

    Regard

  2. Update: Hubbard.

Unbelievable day. Said to be a once in five year visit to Hubbard. 1mile out with ice, 50 + weather, brilliant sun, calving all over.

Must also comment that stage shows may be best we have seen in 17 cruises. Well done.

    Mdr tonite: absolutely great branzino.

I am completely envious we only got 3 miles near the glacier and that was fantastic on our 19th June Vancouver sailing

  3. We have just got back from our Canada/Alaska trip. Infinity 19th to 26th. Must say cruise was fantastic and we were extremely lucky with great weather. to DanaDanes Looks like you were lucky enough to get a bit nearer the Hubbard Glacier than us even so it was an awe inspiring sight. When our jet lag subsides looking forward to reliving it all via photos. We always keep a journal while we are on vacation so we can be prompted as to what we have done

  4. What I find so interesting on this thread is that so many posters have so many different levels of expectations and requirements for their personal cruise experience. And apparently everyone is able to find a stateroom class that meets their needs. I find this to be a big advantage of Celebrity. They give you so many choices!

Our preferred stateroom category is Aqua, I don't expect everyone to agree with us. We find the biggest perk in Aqua is Blu for the lighter fare and the fantastic service. The other perks are just a bonus for us and we use and enjoy them all including the "afternoon savories" and infused teas that every one seems to hate.

There is nothing wrong with the MDR when we book Concierge or lower. But the eat ining experience can be either good or bad depending. Last year we were on a 16 day TA on Reflection in Concierge. We requested an 8 top table for early seating and it turned into a 9 top. One of the couples had their 35 y.o. son with them who had Asperger's Disease (look it up). He dominated the conversation in a loud voice and any experience you wanted to share, he insisted that he could top that. It was excruciating! We spent most of our evenings eating at the buffet or in a specialty restaurant. We could have asked for a change of table and this would have been accommodated, but we did not want to appear rude. Another time we shared a table with a gentleman from Alabama who wanted to re-litigate the Civil War. The first night was interesting, but night after night that is all he wanted to talk about and it got really old fast. These experiences have made us very gun shy about the MDR and eating with the same group every night for several days. It can be very good or very bad.

In Blu, most tables are two top but positioned very close to each other, so you get to converse with the folks next to you. Every night is probably someone new. Wonderful conviviality! If you find some couple you must eat with again, you can always request a four top.

Aqua pax are not permitted to eat lunch in the MDR on embarkation day with Concierge nor is Blu ever open for lunch. The buffet is usually insanely crowded on embarkation. So we have found our own food venue that is free with lots of open tables on embarkation. We head there and are perfectly happy. It has become a tradition for us. We do not miss eating in the MDR for lunch that day.

But to each his own. We have found our happy niche on Celebrity.

Where is this food venue you have found with lots of open tables would love to know. We are soon Alaska bound on the Infinity

  5. We were in AQ on deck 11 on the Infinity in April after they re-fit the deck 12 lounge area and the new movie area was very nice and we heard no noise from folks/ movement up there. Don't worry!

Which AQ cabin were you in on Infinity we are in 1116 on 19th June Hubard Glacier Cruise

    Thanks :)

  6. Often not true! We booked our Alaska cruise over two years ago - and we snagged a Aqua 1 on the aft for cheaper than a Concierge 1 on the aft :D and we aren't even convinced that we will count Blu as a perk - due to the one meal we ate there while in a suite.

We have cruised concierge before - and found very little as to the perks - I think adding the embarkation lunch is a brilliant move and certainly shouldn't include Aqua.

Aqua is supposed to be one grade above Concierge

Just packed for a 3 week cruise & will do laundry as needed

I love your packing list, it will give me a guide line for oiur upcoming Rockies adventure and Alaska cruise next month (think we met last year on Marina)

  8. It seems some of you are getting conflicting information.

This is all of the information I have at the moment:

We are aware that some of our members may be having issues registering for the Connections party on board their Celebrity Cruise. Celebrity is aware of this issue, and they are working on correcting it. At this time we do not have an eta on the fix.

We do apologize that you are having this trouble, You could send Celebrity a note at: connections@celebrity.com to see if they can manually register you

If you have not registered by the time you sail, please check with guest relations on board to ensure that you are added to the party invitation list

Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience this causes. We do hope you have a wonderful cruise

The only problem with some of this advice is that if less than 25 people have registered there will not bea party.

  9. Good thing about Annual insurance, any illnesses or conditions that are diagnosed after you've taken out the cover aren't classed as pre-existing so you are covered. Your insurance will also cover trips that have been booked but aren't in that insurance year. So I can book a holiday over a year out and I'm still covered by the current years insurance.

I think you will find !most insurances say that you have to notify them of any health changes during the policy lifetime. Check this out if I were you

  10. I'm 44 and at no point was I asked about my health when I took out the policy.

If you have pre-existing conditions and have problems with anything that stems from them the insurance will not cover you

:( sorry to put a damper on your reasonable travel insurance

  11. We always have travel insurance, I wouldn't even consider leaving the UK without it. All it takes is one fall with a broken limb, or an asthma attack or even a broken tooth, for it to be necessary. I took out an annual policy that gives up to £10m for medical emergency and repatriation plus a ton more benefits all for £25 a year.

You must be very young and healthy for travel insurance to cost you £25 for a year

  12. Could we please stop all this nonsense and piffle from across the pond. It may be just the way you like it there, but it ain't like that here. To be more precise, and speaking spcifically about Southampton:

    a) Get tags at check in. Er, no. We drop bags at the kerb outside (note, that's "kerb"not "curb") then go inside to queue for 10-30 minutes for the check in desk. Luggage doesn't go inside.

    b) Stand in line (did I mention it always rains in Southampton??) then tip someone to do the job he's paid to do, or else be concerened that it won't happen. Er, no. Not in this version of reality. Your tipping culture has infested too deeply already and it stops here.

    c) Print the docs myself. I don't even receive them by e-mail in the UK. My TA gets them, prints in B&W and posts them out. Did I mention that paper tags stapled at the ends fill me with the same confidence as a prediction about the next earthquake?

    d) Exactly how much is Celebrity saving the environment if my TA jhas to print out a massive pack (single sided) and post it? Zip, nada, zilch, zero. That's how much.

I could go on, but it would sound like a rant.

    .

Oh how I agree. :(

  13. Just print the tags on your home printer using colored ink with card stock paper and everything will be fine. Fold the tags as instructed over a handle on your bag. Then staple it and wrap transparent tape around the tag. It will not come off until you cut it off in your cabin. This is much better than the tags sent via mail anyway.

What happens about stapling when you are doing some air travel, road sightseeing and rail sightseeing, I just dont carry the odd staple gun in my luggage. Imagine that would be a great security risk.

We used to look forward to the pre-printed tags because they are self adhesive.

  14. We are elite. On X but have never been in cc class. Based on the heretofore price differences I never thought it was worth it.

On our next cruise there was a special on a CC guarantee for less than what we were paying for a 1A.

Cabin size is the same and other than the strawberries at the end of the day and a really nice pillow so what else makes it worth so much more than a regular balcony? Don't believe there are any perks outside the cabin itself so why would one, in normal circumstances, pay $1000 or more for CC?

Someone said the stewards are top notch?

You would pay less for Concierge than 1A which is I think Aqua which would include meals in Blu and a couple other perks.
