  1. "The ’new’ dress code which will revert to the old system of a ship wide attire is to be implemented from Cruise No. 6721, which departs from FLL on October 13."

Out of curiosity, what was the "Old" code and what is the "New" code?

It is so interesting how different the information is. Reliable SS sources say the "new" ("old") dress code will begin in October. My SS agent told me it begins with our cruise on Sept. 12. Several of our dinner reservations have a message that indicates that there may be a change in this activity and we should speak to the Maitre 'd on board. The SS agent said that this is due to the change in dress code. Bottom line is we will find out for sure soon![emoji16]

  2. I just heard back from my TA, and the delay in the cruise ticket being issued has something to do with changing the dress code for our 6718 voyage. It looks like the dress code changes everyone is discussing that will take place in October will now take place on September 12th. Silverseas says they expect the cruise ticket to go out sometime this week. Formal nights will no longer be tied to where you are eating but rather on set nights. I am sure most CC will be happy about this change coming earlier than first announced. More to come after I see the Cruise Ticket.

I just received my Cruise Ticket for Voyage 6718. (After calling SS and inquiring.) There is nothing on it relative to dress code or dining. My SS agent said the ship-wide dress dress code will begin with the September 12 sailing. The change to Open Seating in Atlantide and Indochine will not begin until October. Don't know if he is correct; it seems like no one knows and we won't know definitively until we board[emoji16]. In any case, we are very much looking forward to this cruise and expect to have a great time and enjoy. We will report back.

  3. Gotcha.... yes that's also showing up for a Silver select in the U.K. It's just a promotional thing, so yes if you qualify for the $500 having already travelled, then yes, you'd get both.

Not sure about the $1000 figure for the previous passengers though - but as just mentioned it could be per person which would then make complete sense.

Hopefully can get my booking changed tomorrow before the Spirit ship jumpers click in price increases!

Explains why I couldn't see it though as that silver select promotion is for 2017 cruises only and I'm looking at 2018.

I was told by the SS agent it is $500 per person

  4. This is what we received from our SS agent:

As a gesture of goodwill for the recent changes to the Silver Muse’s dining experience, we will offer you a $1000 shipboard credit to be used on new reservations for the below voyages. Please let me know which sailing appeals to you and I will gladly apply the credit to your new reservation.

    Eligible voyages: 6718, 6721, 6723, 6801-6806, 6810-6811, 6824, 6833 and 6834.

  5. I assume this proposed $500 credit will only be allowed for future sailings and not our upcoming trip on the Muse? Our group is traveling on the Muse with 3 cabins on 6715 (11 night Monte Carlo to Lisbon). would be great if we could use it on our trip in just 2 weeks. Very much looking for our trip and will comment either while on board, or after we return.

The email we received said OBC credit on a future sailing on the Muse and specified specific sailings on which it could be applied.

  6. We received a call today from our SS rep. He said that our cruise (which is in September) will have the 'new' (OLD[emoji16]) dress code -- ship wide, not by venue but the 'open dining' in Atlantide and Indochine will not begin until mid-October. Whatever it is, we will be fine and are looking forward to our cruise on the Muse. We will report back in October.

  7. We are sailing on the Muse soon after you and we are excited and looking forward to it. We have sailed on more than 75 cruises and have been on all the SS ships save the Expedition. We have learned over the years -- and especially having been on cruise critic for many years, that everyone looks at their cruise experience differently, through their own lens and their own likes, dislikes, and tastes.....as well they should. Some people hate fish, others don't eat meat. Some folks prefer their food spicy and their wines sweet.... it is just different for all of us. There are some things that go wrong on particular sailings which are not OK and it is helpful to get a heads up. But food and drink are so different -- (even shore excursions). I think it is like going to a theatre performance or a movie-- we all get different things out of the same performance. We are going on the Muse with an open mind and high expectations. I hope you are not disappointment and we hope we are not disappointed either! If we are, we won't be back on SS. Bon Voyage!

  8. I made all of our dinner reservations at 120 days out at 9:01 pm California time which is midnight in Florida where the SS US office is based. We got ALL our reservations with no issues. I don't know for sure, but my understanding is that you make the request on line and then you get your confirmation with the actual time when you board, perhaps someone who was recently on the Muse can clarify. From what I recall all the reservations that were 'requested' were honored.

  9. I did all of my dinner reservations for 16 days last week and printed my confirmation with no difficulty. I simply hit the print icon on the reservation page. After reading this thread, I checked again today and all of my reservations are there. Hope you get this sorted. I would be inclined to call SS directly rather than my TA and have them confirm your requests as they will be happy to assist you.

  10. All eight restaurants require reservations. It is simple to do on line. Just check out the SS website. I signed in to MY SS and it was easy and quick. You can also call SS with any questions. They are always available and helpful. Happy cruising.

  11. My intent is not to sound sarcastic, but I truly believe that SS passengers have enough experience onboard ships to know what is meant by formal, informal, and casual. I think the only clarification that was needed was which restaurants require which dress code and because it is different in each dining venue, what is the acceptable dress code in public areas after 6:00 pm. Common sense dictates what is meant by open toed shoes or T-shirts, etc. For most SS cruisers, this is not their first time onboard a ship and they know exactly what is acceptable and what is not. For those new to cruising, it is easy to find this information (TA or SS or even CC). BTW- reservations are required for all eight restaurants and it was simple to do on line. And when you make your reservation on line, there is a description of the restaurant as well as a description of the dress code for that restaurant. We are very much looking forward to our sailing on the Muse.

  12. IMHO, You really can't compare Oceania with SS. We have sailed with them several times in penthouse, owners, and Oceania suites. The ships are lovely, the service is generally good as is the food, but there is NO comparison to the experience. There is an ambience on SS as well as other luxury lines (like Seabourn and Regent) that is quite different from Oceania. The all-inclusive atmosphere also adds another dimension of luxury. It is not just the beverages, it is all the little nickel and dime stuff that still exists on Oceania. There is also a 'cast' system where suite passengers are treated better than 'cabin' passengers. One of the wonderful things about SS is that everyone is treated equally well. I could go on and this is just our experience and opinion. I would rather be in a 'regular' suite on SS than the Owner's or Oceania suite on one of the Oceania ships. We are very excited about our upcoming cruise on the Muse and will navigate the dining and dressing issues and report back.

  13. I just spoke to my SS agent who had a briefing this morning in Ft. Lauderdale on the Muse. As was mentioned earlier the restaurant, not the day, will determine the dress for the venue. She told me that SS had done extensive marketing research (they never asked me!) and found that most passengers wanted flexibility as to where to dine and how to dress. She said that they compare the new scheme to a fine resort where there are various dining venues and people dress accordingly but come together in the public areas regardless of dress. She indicated that a majority of passengers wanted more informal options and wanted to pack less clothes. She was told that though reservations are necessary, there will be some flexibility once on board as long as the passenger has some flexibility. The butlers will be able to assist you with these reservations. There are sure to be some glitches and it will take some adjustments, but the SS management believes this will work and passengers will be pleased after they get used to a new paradigm in dining.

The formal nights on the Muse will not be per date, they will be per venue.

    Here is the breakdown:

    La Terrazza – Casual

    Kaiseki – Informal

    La Dame – Formal

    Atlantide – Formal

    Hot Rocks – Casual

    Spaccanapoli – Casual

    Silver Note - Informal

    Indochine – Informal

We'll see soon and report back!

  14. Some folks are boarding soon and making dinner reservations on line; hence the interest in getting a definitive answer prior to departure. It isn't just about the clothes, it is also planning when on your itinerary you want to be formal/informal/casual.

  15. This is what I received from my SS agent today:

On the Muse there will not be real formal nights, but rather the restaurant

the guests choose to dine in will have a dress code. Atlantis, Silver Note,

and La Dame are always formal. Kabuki, Indochine, La Terraza, and The Grill are always semi formal. Regina Margarita is always casual.

We think we like the 'traditional' dress codes, but will see when we sail on her later this year.

  16. Does anyone have a definitive answer on the dress code for the Muse? I thought by now Silversea would have put something out. I was told by my TA that there will be formal/informal/casual evenings, but there was a rumor that La Dame was going to be formal every night. All my TA could find was that the dress code will be the same for all SS ships. But none of the other ships has this dining arrangement. Just wondering......

  17. We were able to upgrade the domestic portion of our flights using miles on AA (LAX/MIA). We made our final payment early so that Regent would book the air earlier. Of course there has to be availability and I think it also depends upon what class of service Regent books the economy fare. I know that the airlines will not allow you to 'upgrade' to economy plus or more room seats. Bottom line is it doesn't seem right that the domestic portion is coach when you are transferring to a business class flight.

  18. I was just reading another thread where a poster indicated that, except for the embarkation day bottle of chilled champagne in your suite, one can only get champagne by the glass after that. We have been on two Regent cruises and always were able to get bottles of champagne in our suite. We are wine and champagne drinkers and requested champagne in our suite rather than spirits. Is this a new policy?

  19. I received and completed the survey. I think it is a horrible idea to change access based on speed. Seabourn is already more expensive than similar lines. Most premium cruise lines have realized that internet isn't a perk any more and include, at the minimum, a couple of hours per day, which we believe is more than sufficient. We had free unlimited internet on our last Seabourn cruise but we only used it to check email. IMHO: Provide more free access and give everyone the same speed. It doesn't cost them any more... just another concession.
