  1. YES!! 30s. I refuse to wear formal wear, and I still eat in the MDR on formal night. Yes, I'm *that* person (but I'm dressed smart casual). It's a silly old school tradition that should be eliminated. Clearly, no one should eat in their PJs or bathing suits, but there's no need to wear a ball gown either.

  2. I simply don't check their names and that's it. No cash account. No debarkation delays. No charging privileges. They get a SeaPass that works as a key and that's it. It doesn't change check in or out in anyway. And my girls are teens. They have the soda package marked on their cards and they do just fine. They have never needed to spend money on board.

Thank you! That's exactly what I wanted to know. I have no intentions of allowing them to charge anything, I just wanted to be sure there wouldn't be any delays in any way.

  3. This is my first time cruising with my kids. As you know, when I complete the online check-in, it asks for a credit card for the SeaPass card. It asks who on the reservation is authorized to charge on the card. I obviously do not want my 5yos to be able to charge, but I'm concerned that not checking their names will mean we have to set up a cash account for them, which could delay disembarking (and we have a VERY tight flight and must get off the ship ASAP without delay). Question - do I check their names now and allow them access and then go to guests services on board to disable their cards OR do I not check their names now? What happens if I don't check their names?

    TIA for your help!

  4. For our cruise last August we flew into FLL very late for a cruise out of MIA (since Southwest doesn't fly to MIA). We stayed at the Sheraton Cruiseport in FLL, which has a free 24hour airport shuttle. We landed in FLL at midnight. The next morning we used Jiffy Jeff to get to MIA. I can't say enough good things about Jiffy Jeff. Excellent service, very reliable and excellent price. He is big on communication so you're never wondering if he'll be there or not. We also used him to get back to FLL after the cruise. He picked us up early in MIA, and we were at the airport in FLL by 9:15a.

  5. We started cruising with our daughter when she turned 6 months have since had a son who is also now a frequent cruiser. We had great experiences with the RCCL Nursery! We used them mostly in the evenings and they take great care for each child. We were given a phone upfront and also scheduled the days and times we wanted (each child is limited to a certain number of hours each week). There was never any issues and the staff seemed to really enjoy their time with the kiddies. Play area with parents was also very nice.

    Have a great time!

Is the time limit only for the nursery or for all ages?

  6. We're on the Oasis now. The tels us the video clearly shows this guy jumped from deck 5. His family left the ship in Cozumel to meet him in the hospital.

It's been an interesting cruise. A near drowning and a return to Port Everglades, a helicopter evacuation from Labadee an now a guy jumps overboard.

Good luck to all of those affected by these incidents.

Maybe I missed it somewhere, but what happened in Labadee?

  7. I've been thinking a lot about what I would have done in your situation. I'm most definitely not being critical of your decisions as I wasn't there and there's no telling what I really would have done. That being said, I think the best move would have been to go back to ship to see if he was already onboard. If he wasn't, then maybe you could get your passport, money, etc. off the ship and wait for him and let the ship leave without you knowing for sure that he wasn't on board. Just something to think about if you (or anyone else reading this) is ever in that situation. I wonder if the ship would let you sit on the dock and just watch it sail away if a family member was missing.....

I'm on pins and needles waiting for the rest of the story!

When we were on Jewel many years ago, a family was left behind in Colombia. They ended up getting back on board in Costa Rica (which was 2 ports later), but I never heard how they got back. I can't even imagine being stranded in Colombia without a passport or money!
