  1. I don't mean to butt into this post but the name and phone no of the port agent is on the bottom of your Daily Compass , we always take it with us when we go ashore

    Excellent info!

I've always wondered what would happen. I can't wait to hear the rest of the story. Is the 'friend' helping with your additional expenses? Were you the only one left and your son and friends were actually on the ship? I'd be furious!!

  2. I'm much more concerned about contracting chikungunya or dengue in the Eastern Caribbean than contracting Ebola on a cruise ship. It seems as if children would be more likely to contract enterovirus, the severe respiratory disease, on a cruise ship than Ebola.

I totally agree with you!! Puerto Rico has declared a chikungunya epidemic with more than 200 cases in the last month. I'm much more concerned with getting norovirus, the flu or my kids getting enterovirus. That being said, if people are worried about Ebola and it causes them to be more mindful of hand washing, etc., that's great! It will help prevent those other diseases like norovirus and the flu!

  3. There are probably some married couples who go to the clubs and pretend to be single only to end up hitting on one another and heading back to the room......

Also pretending to be someone else doesn't necessarily mean you're pretending to be someone 'better' - richer, more arrogant. It could just be someone different - like add an accent and say you're from a different part of the country or world. I think it would be fun, but I think it takes more commitment than I'm willing to give on vacation.

  4. Grand Cayman has bus service, too...$2.50 pp, too...very easy for getting to the beach!

We used the bus in Grand Cayman. It was great. It's a small van that holds about 6-8 people. There are no bus stop signs. We toured the island using the bus and relied on locals to tell us where to catch it. At one point we found ourselves on a deserted street waiting for the bus. We were a little scared we'd never get back to the ship because there weren't any taxis or other cars anywhere in sight. It eventually came though, just like they said it would. It's so cheap, and it was a great way to see the island. It won't take you right to the port, but it stops about 1-2 blocks away and the driver will tell you which way to walk to get back. I really disliked Grand Cayman, but our bus experience/adventure was so fun!!

  5. I sailed in 2009 when I was 18 weeks pregnant with spontaneous TRIPLETS. I really shouldn't have gone at all given the potential problems, but we booked long before I was pregnant and we did not have travel insurance. I didn't tell anyone on the ship that I was pregnant, but it was obvious. I did have a note and my complete medical record in my safe in my room just in case. Everything was fine. No problems.

  6. I used the seach feature but didn't find what I want. A few weeks ago, some people posted that the float mats on Labadee at Barefoot Beach (the Gold card only beach) are not complimentary anymore. Can anyone confirm or deny? Also, does anyone have the link to the list of suite perks at Barefoot beach? I searched here for that, as I know it was posted at least once, but nothing showed up on that search. Or can anyone point me to the RCI site that lists those perks, please?

That is the link to the perks.

  7. I was just on the Majesty last month. There isn't a specific meeting listed, but it is addressed on the Compass. I had no idea what it was until I read this thread. Here's a photo of my Compass. It's the first item on the upper left.

I wish your son the best in his recovery.

  8. Do you actually owe more money or just more money for the deposit? Have heard a few stories of the amount of the deposit being wrong? Just a thought. Good luck

I was originally told the deposit on my next cruise was $250pp, but then because we booked a suite it was actually $500pp. It's possible it's a discrepancy with the deposit. If it's not, then I agree that you shouldn't owe more if the TA made a mistake.

  9. Oasis Royal Family Suite

TripleU here is what I find in my research:

"The four Royal Family Suites on the Oasis of the Seas sleep eight and feature a master bedroom and bath and a guest room and private bath. Two Pullman beds are in the second bedroom. The Royal Family Suites also have a private balcony with outdoor dining and lounge area that seats four. The sofa can be converted to a double bed' date=' and the and master bath has a tub. The Royal Family suite is 553-square-feet and its balcony is 238-square-feet."

It looks like a wonderful cabin! How many of you are sailing?

    I found some pics too..hopefully post tomorrow[/quote']

Thank you!! I don't know why I didn't think to check YouTube. I sincerely appreciate your research. I'm beyond excited for our cruise in April. There will be 7 of us - me, DH, our 5yo triplets and my parents. I'm nervous about dynamic dining, and I can't wait to hear about all the dry dock changes.

  10. Sorry more to add -

The CD is a female from Brazil. I forgot her name. She was fine for a 3 night cruise. All the men thought she had a hot body. I liked the CD staff. The guy from Turkey was a lot of fun - again I forgot his name.

There's a 70s disco night. We did not attend.

Formal night is not formal. There were a few couples in formal attire. DH and I were only slightly dressed up - definitely not formal, but not casual. Most came to dinner in jeans and t-shirts.

  11. We were on the Majesty last month (both DH and I are 36 from Denver - to set the scene). We sailed on 8/15 to Coco Cay and Nassau. Just as I was figuring out the odd deck plan, the cruise was over. There's part of the ship where the decks are offset, so to get to 5 you have to go to 4 or 6 and take the stairs. Surely there's another way for accessibility purposes, but I was always confused.

I have some pictures of our room, and that's it. We didn't take a lot of photos since it was short. We were in 6544 - ocean view.

We had them split the bed even though we're married because it made the room seem bigger. The bathroom is bigger than I expected after reading other reviews, but it is small. I'm a large person, and it was fine.

Embarkation was quick and easy. We left our hotel in Ft. Lauderdale at 10:30am, and we were on the ship in Miami by 11:45am. We used Jiffy Jeff - highly recommend him!!

We ate lunch at the Windjammer. It was a bit crowded, but not too bad. We ate there for every breakfast, and it was good. We had MTD in the MDR every night. Not a fan of our waiters because they always seemed very distracted and pushed the 'give me a 10.' The food was excellent though. Not as good as the Jewel (the only other ship I've been on), but it was very good. No complaints!

Our stateroom attendant was excellent too.

The passengers are mainly 2 types - drunk college kids from Miami and Ft. Myers and people who only speak Spanish. Seriously, I would say well over half the ship didn't speak a lick of English. The Spanish speakers obviously weren't an issue. There is a lot of translating going on, but all shows are only in English. The college kids on the other hand were an issue twice - both on Coco Cay. They were just loud and drunk. Very, very drunk. On the tender back to the ship there was a group being so loud and obnoxious I probably would have said something if my kids were with me (and I have a potty mouth that is used in front of my kids a lot). They were throwing around the 'n' word a lot. There was a large black man 2 rows up, and I would have paid to see him punch them in the face and throw them overboard. It was awful!

Other than that, which was only 30 minutes of the trip, the Majesty was fine. It's small and old, but it's completely sufficient for a 3 night cruise that is in port every day. It was very cheap, and I'd do it again. You just have to know what it is you're getting into before you board.

The ship only seemed crowded in the Windjammer. There's not much shopping either. It's small. The shows were good, but the dancers are awful. I enjoyed laughing at them. Comedian was really funny, and the juggler was too. The juggler picked an audience member to assist him who didn't speak ANY English. A crew member had to translate, but it made the act even funnier. There were the usual activities. We went to karaoke and The Quest. Always a good time.

We disembarked at 7:30a after breakfast in the Windjammer with our own luggage. We literally never stopped walking until we were outside. No lines at all. Very easy. Jiffy Jeff was there to get us, and we were at the Ft. lauderdale airport by 8:45a.

Don't expect the luxury of other ships. Don't set super high standards. It's a very nice, cheap cruise for a weekend getaway.

  12. Not on Oasis but we had the RFS on Grandeur and the suite configuration was as follows:

Master stateroom with standard two bed combined configuration and a JS style bathroom with a shower tub. The second bedroom was large enough also with the standard two bed configuration with two upper Murphy beds. Recommend keeping the 4 bed arrangement. The second bath was in the hall and is the standard shower arrangement. The living room has a queen couch bed. Plenty of storage in each bedroom and the living room.

We had 7 (6 adults and one toddler) and were very comfortable as the stateroom arrangement we had - which was aft facing - was quite large and very comfortable in size and with that location had the largest balcony on that ship.

While there will be some difference with the Oasis RFS overall it will be very similar and the bed arrangement should be the same as described.

Thank you! That's not what I wanted to hear since it's going to be my parents, DH, my 5yo triplets and me. I was hoping to have my parents in the 2nd bedroom and the rest of us in the master.

Is there a TV in the 2nd bedroom? What all is in the 2nd bedroom? A closet and a desk/vanity and a TV?

  13. The RFS on Oasis is very nice. A master bedroom with king bed, a small bedroom with 2 singles and 2 pull-downs and a sofa couch inthe living room. The balcony is huge, with a table for 4 plus 2 lounge chairs. The only downside was the master bathroom. The ceiling in the tub is only 5'11", so anyone taller than that will have to scrunch down. I loved having the Concierge Lounge and used it for lunch and happy hour!

Can you please describe the location of the pullman beds? Are they both in the master bedroom? Where in the room do they pull down - like over the king bed? We're going to have 7 people, and I'm trying to figure out sleeping arrangements. Thank you!!
