In my experience, the Celebrity shows were at 7:15 and around 9:15pm typically. We dined early and usually went to the later show. And we usually had time to relax in the lounge before the show as well. The main dining room was lovely every evening. We never felt the need to do any of the "extra" dining in the evenings.

Just wondering if anyone has done the Ibiza Jeep Safari half day or full day tour, and if so, how it was?

Very helpful thread - spending a few days in BCN before our cruise in Sept :)

Raspberry fizz is the best thing ever! I want to figure out how I can make it alcoholic.
Laura
I drank that one with vodka - it was delicious :) Not sure how the bartender entered it in his computer, but it was included in my package - maybe as two drinks? :)

That's great info - thanks! I have mentioned it on my Rollcall with another couple signing up already - hopefully we will get a few more :)

No, this is not Stephano's Company, but as I mentioned I have had good luck with them in the past. Just wondered if anyone has recently.

I personally used this company for 2 transfers in 2015 - Romecabsbooking.com I had such good experience with them that I wasn't hesitating to use them again this coming fall. In general, their TA reviews are great and glowing, but there are a few more recent ones that are not good saying they weren't picked up, etc. Because of the name similarities in some of the companies, I sometimes wonder if these people have actually reviewed the correct company and if they are valid? Does anyone have current experience with ROME CABS BOOKING? That is their actual company name. Thanks! I hope they are as great as they were in 2015 when I used them twice.

The "Things to Do" section there was interesting - thanks :)

Compared to other ports I've been researching, I'm having a hard time getting much info about Ibiza cruise port. Is there much to do within walking distance of the cruise port? "Calm" evening activities? We have an overnight there. I'm looking at a possible Jeep tour for a few hours one of the days- any recommendations or ideas? I do not wish to rent my own vehicle.

I sailed on Constellation with a Classic Package last year. They were excellent at basically making you a drink that was included as long as it was do-able ...once they got to know you, they were awesome :) If you go to the same places regularly and treat them well, it's all good :) Even in the main dining room, the sommelier was great bringing us wines that were included for us. I had absolutely no issues with the Classic Package. For my next cruise, I'm actually going to try the Standard, and if it does not include enough, I will just upgrade to classic. We will see how it goes.

Hello Andrea,
We worked with a local company who offered us many options. Here is their website http://www.absolutelysouthernfrance.com
thank you :)

I've tried to get answers to this but I guess this isn't a popular port.
What do people do for a shore excursion in Ibiza? Our ship offers a full day island tour but I don't want to spend eight hours on a bus riding around the island.
They also offer a half day beach excursion from 8 to noon but if we were to go to the beach, we wouldn't want to leave at noon. Would rather go later and stay later.
I looked into a day pass but got confused about the various beach clubs and where they were. Not sure where the port is in relation to the beaches. Don't want to rent a car for the day, willing to take taxi somewhere.
From my research, it looks like Ibiza is a big party island. Just looking for something low key for us fuddy duddies (ages 59 and 63).
What have you done in Ibiza for a day?

Hey Cruisegal415 - I'm just curious what you ended up doing on your day in Ibiza? Did you just hang around the town, find a beach, etc? Hope your cruise was great :)

Thank you, Londontowner - as well, always very helpful posts :) Now, I'm hungry too lol

The question by the OP is my exact opinion lol so far of Ibiza - and we have 2 days there on our cruise lol. Does anyone know how far the cruise dock will be from the old town - is this walkable? I'm thinking possibly a short "water" outing for a few hours one of the days that is not very expensive...any input or suggestions from anyone for with us leaving from near the cruise port area? Also, is mid September typically still beach weather in Ibiza? TIA :)

Appreciate this wide range of opinions on Rick Steves. Personally, his TV style is fun and entertaining. Nice visuals! His travel books have been more "mixed" for me. Agree that there are people who hang on his every word. Some view his writings as coming from the "Holy Bible". I like to check a variety of different travel books that I check out from our local public library, including visual ones such as Eyewitness, Insight Guides, etc.
THANKS for the great sharing and update! Keep posting and providing your viewpoints and experiences. That helps folks prepare and consider their many options. Enjoy! Terry in Ohio
Did a June 7-19, 2011, cruise from Barcelona that had stops in Villefranche, ports near Pisa and Rome, Naples, Kotor, Venice and Dubrovnik. Dozens of nice visuals with key highlights, tips, comments, etc. We are now at 220,986 views for this live/blog re-cap, including much on wonderful Barcelona. Check these postings and added info at:
That's a great review of your cruise in 2011 - We did the Eastern Med a couple years ago and absolutely loved Kotor and Dubrovnik - we mostly walked the towns with a private tour in Dubrovnik that showed much the same as your pics. Kotor was a great port to just walk around and have a nice lunch and shop at the fresh market and stores. It was one of our fav ports - and so beautiful sailing in and out. We loved Venice and Rome as well. Ours started in Venice and ended in Rome, so we took a day extra in each place which made it much better. This year, we are doing the Western Med and will be in Barcelona for 3 days and Villefranche and some others. Thanks for the great pics and info :)

Thanks for the tips - I know that Catalan is spoken in Barcelona, and many of the menus, etc that I have read are in Catalan, and that's what I was kind of meaning when I said even though I know a lot of simple Spanish words, they are different in Barcelona :) There seem to be quite a few differences with the bit I've been seeing so far anyway. No worries. I like trying to get by conversing with my English, bit of French and very limited Spanish and my hands too of course lol- maybe I'll be able to add a bit of Catalan as well. My screen name "tartana" actually came about because I am from Nova Scotia, Canada and I was using tartan -the NS plaid - but on a few sites, "tartan" was already used, so I just added the "a" lol. I don't think it means anything in English.

I can't seem to find this doing a search on the boards. So if I like drinks like pina coladas, mudslides, mojitos, and sea breezes, are these included in the regular beverage package?
Not the premium one, but the basic one?
Thanks!
debbie
The "Classic" package will include most everything except premium alcohol and more expensive wines, etc, but the new "Standard" package is more limited. I think many cocktails will still be included if they are made with your basic house alcohol from what I'm understanding. But this is the Standard we've been talking about - not the Classic. There are 3 choices on my upcoming cruise for alcohol pkgs.
-
I'm sure you're correct, but for many of us non local or even non European, this is all new and strange to us. Plus I assume there can be quite a language barrier in many spots. I know lots of basic Spanish words from the Caribbean and Mexico, but a lot of the menus I've seen from Barcelona don't look very familiar to me lol. After we do the tour, we'll get a better handle of things and how they work - then for future days and visits hopefully we'll go around like pros :) We are looking forward to it as one of our only paid for excursions in Barcelona. Can't wait!

Does anyone know if you can just get an included regular run of the mill coffee at Cafe el Bacio without a drink package? I'm thinking of trying the Standard Drink package, and I've heard Cafe el Bacio is not included with that. (the drinks anyway) She's getting the premium Non Alcohol, so she can enjoy her coffees, etc. I suppose if not, I could grab a coffee from the self serve on Silhouette and just meet my daughter there for her "fancy" coffees lol.

I got such a sweet deal on an inside cabin with a couple smaller perks that I can easily buy a drink package and pay my gratuities for much less than they want to book the window/balcony cabins with the perks....I will be watching, but I doubt it'll get cheap enough the other way for me to consider changing my booking.

I've actually booked the Small group Tapas tour with the "ex" company at a really good promo price - The tour company is Urban Adventures which is reviewed quite highly :) Looking forward to it!
-
great - thanks - that's the impression I get about it, the staff will just look at you funny and think what?! I will probably get this package, and then, if necessary, upgrade to the classic - I feel there needs to more of us that "try it" to get more info out there - and perhaps experience for the staff lol.

And I forgot to mention, we often liked to visit the Cafe el Bacio coffee shop after dinner before the show - lovely spot, and it is included on Classic Package. :)
