@JillSR, they should be in your inbox now. Have fun.

Crazy yahoo...I tried 3 times to reply and nothing happened. I forwarded to my regular gmail to read. Anyway, I opened the first doc and am incredibly excited to read it all. If they are so hell bent on no paper, did you download these onto your phone? Just curious. I'm not a fan of reading important things on my phone. The screen is just too small for me. I love paper so that I can underline, highlight, look at it quickly...I have a feeling this might be frustrating for me. I wonder if they'll print it out if I ask. Thoughts?

Hi. I do apologise for not replying sooner but I've not been looking at the CC boards recently. Sadly, I think I'm coming to the end of my riverine hols so only check into the site occasionally. I hope I'm not too late to contribute to your planning. I have found one menu and checked my Avalon account to see if they are lurking there but without any luck. I have tried to attach below the one that I found - if it doesn't load do let me know and I will find another way to get it to you.

Avalon are indeed accommodating but I think vegan might be more challenging for them, though as it is becoming more mninstream now I'm sure they are now accustomed. Joanne

Sorry Joanne that I JUST saw this post now. I guess I didn't get notified. Attachments here don't seem to ever work, but  Daisi is forwarding menus to my email, so I should be covered. THANK YOU for offering! I hope you're wrong about vegan, but I'll be hoping for the best. I can go a few days on minimal food like salads but then I start to get cranky lol.

Yes please send all of the menus. I TRULY appreciate your doing this more than I can say. I'm curious why you missed Nuremburg. Did the ship not stop there or were you personally unable to get off? Please email to  Many thanks Daisi!

Yes, I can email them, I have all (breakfast, light & regular lunch, and dinner). Would you like them as well?  If you are on the Blue Danube Discovery cruise I can send you the dailies, however ours switched a bit because we ran into some low water levels....but they will give you an idea of what to expect. Just don't expect times to be the same. We started off with 2 days in Budapest, ended with 2 days in Prague...missed Nuremburg unfortunately.

Forgot to include, YES, absolutely send the dailies as well!!!!!

@JillSR Sorry, tried to d/l some of our menus from our Sept Danube cruise, but it won't allow me to d/l .pdf or .dox

Thx for trying. Are you willing to email them if I share my address? I have a second email that I don’t use regularly, so not concerned if it’s “out there” in case anyone snatches it for spam. Alternatively, once you see it, I can probably delete my post. Let me know please! Thank you!

Daisi. Home again now and I am trying another way to attach the menu. Do let me know if it works! If so, I will attach more. Unfortunately they are PDFs so I can't cut and Paste. I will say that the food was universally excellent. Some of us feared that, with such a small complement of passengers, they might offer reduced options but that was not at all the case.mthmzp39-Day_2_Dinner_Menu[651].pdfmthmzp39-Damthmzp39-Day_2_Dinner_Menu[651].pdfmthmzp39-Day_2_Dinner_Menu[651].pdfmthmzp39-Day_2_Dinner_Menu[651].pdfmthmzp39-Day_2_Dinner_Menu[651].pdfy_2_Dinner_Menu[651].pdfmthmzp39-Day_2_Dimthmzp39-Day_2_Dinner_Menu[651].pdfnner_Menu[651].pdf

Hi! I'm wondering if you still have the menus and if you would email them to be directly if I share my address. I'm vegan and my husband is vegetarian. I know Avalon will accommodate, but I want to get an idea of what is actually on the menus to start with - like how healthy and if there is something that would work for us with modifications. We're comparing Avalon with AmaWaterways. Thanks!

  7. Thanks so much for these files! What a help in planning.

Please tell me what people can wear or do wear in the regular dining rooms - not buffet and not specialty. My "cruise consultant" said anything goes from shorts on up. I thought we needed a touch nicer than that. What is typical? Our group ranges in age from 25 to 85. Literally.

Also, how is the A/C on board in closed areas? I'm always cold so I know I need a sweater, but curious for your take on it.

We're going next week. Thanks in advance for your answer!

  8. I’ve usually found ncl very accommodating for special diets. Have you emailed access desk or just the general customer services? Access desk are the people to get in touch with.

Once onboard speak with guest services and they can set up a meeting with the maitre d to talk through your requirements. I’ve cruised with vegans before who have found things usually in the buffet, but did supplement with their own snack bars...

Yes, access desk is where I e-mailed. Hopefully they will get back to me answering some of my questions prior to sailing. Thanks for the hopeful reply!

  9. I reached out to NCL's "help desk" almost FOUR weeks ago to discuss my being a vegan with many food sensitivities. I got back a read receipt on 7/31 so I know it was received. However, I have not heard a single thing back and was told by the customer service department that NCL only accommodates vegetarians, not vegans!:mad::mad:We NEVER would have booked on NCL if we knew this in advance. We have traveled on RC, Celebrity and Oceania of which all 3 were extremely helpful both in advance and on the ship. Unfortunately all 7 in our party had already booked non-refundable airfare making a cancellation of the trip not feasible.

    Questions:

Do cabins have a mini-fridge in the room? If so, would there be room to squeeze some individual soy yogurts, container of hummus, vegan butter, etc.?

There is a Whole Foods in Maui where I can stock up on a few vegan sources of protein. (I'm allergic to nuts among many seasonings, so finding peanut butter on board won't help.) I was told we may not bring any food on board, but weapons and alcohol were the only prohibited items listed in the terms & conditions.

Has anyone noticed any protein sources such as veggie burger, edamame or bean dishes that might be vegan? Do they have soy milk? Italian ices or dairy free sorbet? Unseasoned beans in the salad bar area? Pasta without eggs?

Any insight or advice will be very much appreciated!!

  10. Thank you for the suggestion of John V. I tired to email him at the address that was posted on the thread and it was returned as "illegal host/domaine name found". Any suggestions?

Sorry it took so long to reply - I've been busy catching up from the trip and haven't logged on in a while. I checked my confirmation email. It was www.taxireservations.com I can't find his business card right now, but try the website and specifically request him. good luck!

  11. We just returned from a wonderful cruise on the Nautica last week. There are definitely opportunities to dance. The bar Horizons has a DJ or maybe a small band (we only went twice but read in the daily currents) almost nightly. They play enough of a variety of music to appeal to a wide range of ages. Some nights are themed like "Stayin' Alive" night which was disco. I think there is dancing before most of the shows; there was a 12 piece band (with dancing and free drinks) at the Captain's party.

    Hope this helps.

  12. We just returned yesterday from a cruise that started in Athens and spent 2 days/one night there prior to sailing. Everyone speaks very highly of Spiros, so I don't think you can go wrong with him. We had a wonderful guide just for the drive from airport to hotel who pointed out many sites along the way, showed us a map and gave recommendations for a self-guided walking tour. We were impressed with his perfect English, knowledge and pleasant personality.

We stayed at the Golden Tulip Electra Palace in the Plaka District. We could walk to every important site as well as to good shopping and excellent restaurants. I'd recommend doing a walking tour (either guided through one of the companies you can find online) or by yourself (hotel staff are helpful) and then having a tour with a company for what you didn't see. Athens is very pedestrian friendly.
