Not sure where you're from, but if you rent a car and to the Road to Hana, you will not use the entire tank of gas. I did not do enough research and got snookered into the free upgrade if I paid for a tank of gas. The spouse was happy because he got to drive a sports car instead of a compact, but I was cranky that I blew my low, low, rental rate. It was still beautiful trip though.

The math is still pretty simple to me. Do you spend more than $51.95 a day (on average) on beverages during your cruise? If the answer is yes, it's totally worth it.

I've never tipped the bar tenders extra per drink. I do give a cash tip to the best bartenders at the end of the cruise.

We're sailing on the first Medallion cruise on Caribbean Princess next March...hoping all the bugs have been worked out by then!!!
As someone who works deploying software and systems, let me tell you. There will be bugs. There will be some kind of problem, some kind of slow-down. Know that it's going to happen. Get okay with the fact that it's going to happen. Excercise patience, then relax and enjoy your cruise. If everything goes of without a hitch, that will be fantastic.

I have trouble relaxing until I've set foot on the ship. Until then I'm anxious that something may go wrong. Once I'm on the ship, I'm on vacation. I got no worries.

As a foreign born citizen, I strongly recommend getting a passport. It makes life so much easier. I've had problems at the Social Security Office, because people don't know how to read the documentation. As soon as they see that "place of birth" is not in the US, they start asking for my green card. Nevermind that United States of America is in giant letters across the top of the paperwork and there's an official seal.

I would say from the comments the women behind us in line were making - no they were not. The guy was just a jerk. I can guarantee that my 75 year old mother was not twerking. Sorry' date=' but I don't find it funny when some drunk is grabbing my Mother (or anyone else for that matter). I know you are trying to make light of it but if it happened to your Mother and she had survived half of what my Mother had been through you would be offended.[/quote']
I'm so sorry you thought I was making light of what happened to your mother. I was most definitely not. I am sorry that any of those women had to deal with that @@^^&*#*. I was actually trying to make a comment on people who blame women when men behave badly. Again, I apologize for upsetting you.

Me too, because he sounds like the type that does this often and gets away with it. He should have been kicked off the ship. There is no excuse for this behavior.
Maybe the women were twerking.

I did not experience 90 year old cruisers. I experienced cruisers who were empty-nesters, but there were still a fair number of cruisers with children. We took a January cruise to Hawaii.
I did a similar cruise. There were maybe 20-40 under 18 year olds (if that many). Things did get quiet earlier than you would find on a Caribbean cruise, but there were some of us who were part of the late night crowd. It was fund and more intimate because you got to know a core group of people.

I only stress about stuff in terms of "What do I need to know for my next cruise?" So, now I need to make sure I note my boarding time and don't try to get in before it. Now I know I don't need to be confused when I don't get my sign an sail card. Do I have the information I need to know what to expect? Yes. Then, I'm good. I'm also kinda excited to see how it all works. I hope it's smoother and my trip continues to be fun. But I will continue to cruise where I get a good value for my money and I have a good time. If I'm not having fun here, I'll go somewhere else.

I love the Splendor and I love sea days. I've done the Hawaii cruise out of Long Beach and loved it so much, we're doing it again.

I will stop cruising when I stop enjoying it.

I stayed in a Spa Balcony and loved it. I don't remember what number.

Shoot...I meant Splendor....Glory is next year.
My honey and I went on the Splendor Hawaiian cruise a few years ago. We loved it so much, we're doing it again for our 10th Anniversary. One of these years, I actually plan to do a land vacation on Maui, but in the meantime, all those sea days are great!

Well, it has been three weeks since anyone posted. Have there been any changes yet?
You're kidding right? When something new comes out, the boards will be lit up with people talking about everything they think is wrong with the new plan. Don't worry, it won't sneak by you. ;)

My travel clothes have pockets, so I don't have to worry about carrying a purse. I keep my sign & sail in my pocket.

I love Tandoor. It's all about the fresh Naan for me.

And here I thought the drink limit was not just about money, but also about trying to keep people from getting plastered. Especially since Carnival has a lingering "party boat" reputation.

I just don't see the downside to data mining. It helps them see what areas of the ship are used when, what shows are attended etc. Yes, they will use this data to try and improve profits, but how does that hurt me? If I'm not enjoying my cruise experience or if I don't feel I'm getting the value that I want out of a cruise, I'm going elsewhere.

I love the Splendor. I'm surprisingly excited she's back. If we can't get a new ship, at least we've got a good ship.

The men who fell off the cliff in CA, deliberately crossed over into a "no trespassing" area on the cliff's edge. This was not an accidental wandering of the edge of something.
No one playing pokemon is going to fall overboard because they are not paying attention. If they fall overboard, it's the same reason anyone else accidentally falls overboard; they're doing something they shouldn't be doing.

I like long leisurely meals. I also enjoy chatting with the fascinating humans who are my waitstaff.
