  1. either way for me, doesn't bother me /30's

but i dont think anyone has the right to tell anyone how they should or should not dress unless they are paying for that persons cruise.

i have never been on a cruise and can't remember one time looking around in the MDR saying what is that person wearing or even someones attire affecting my vacation. i think if someone in shorts on the other side of the dining room affects your meal you might other problems...

its funny some posts say i enjoy dressing up, cant you respect someone elses wishes to enjoy going casual? and not sure why it is acceptable to dress how ever in the windjammer but the MDR is different, does 8 floors make that big of a difference lol..

  2. I have a question for you. Are you able to get on line in your stateroom? I'll be on Grandeur next month and plan on purchasing the unlimited internet package and hope that I can get on line in our room.

    Thanks for the great review.

got off a few weeks ago and i got it in my stateroom on deck 3... actually got it everywhere i tried it...

  3.

Im worried about the lack of service due to drink packages. I am going to be royally pissed if I have to search for drink at dinner or on the pool deck. PISSED! And I will voice it to anyone who will listen. All I want is the same service I have always had. Example would be as soon as you sit down in the theater 37 servers come up asking if you would like a drink. If lots of ppl are getting the drink package and they stop having 37 servers asking me if I want a drink then there will be problems.

my father had the drink package, we just got off grandeur last week. he didn't get it until day 3 but noticed he got less service once they saw the drink package on his card. he felt everyone was helped before him.

also my only real compliant about the grandeur was there was no "wow" factor like on previous cruises. and im not saying its a bad cruise, i would also go on it again in a heartbeat. nothing bad really but nothing was like wow thats great. i can say out of probably 8 or 9 cruises on royal in the past 5 or 6 years this was the first cruise where i did not give anyone any extra cash because wasn't overly impressed by anyone other than specialty dinning servers..

  4. Our other issue revolved around entertainment. It seemed aimed at the over 70 crowd. One of the bands that played in the centrum looked like they came from the Lawrence Welk era. The shows also seemed outdated and like things that we would have seen when we started cruising 20 years ago..

first time i was on a cruise where a spelling bee was an activity, lmao

  5. My husband and I just returned on the Grandeur and enjoyed the cruise. There was a Q and A session with the Captain and he indicated that our cruise had the best weather of the winter season. I was concerned prior to our departure as there were many negative reviews. I am sure weather and noro were a factor in those reviews. We felt that food in the MDR and specialty restaurants, entertainment and cleanliness of ship exceeded our expectations. Staff and crew went out of their way to accommodate everyone. Dan was one of the better cruise directors that we have had on a ship. He appears to be a genuinely nice guy based on my observation of his interaction with people. If you are used to the bells and whistles of the larger ships you may be disappointed, but I would expect that a person would do their due diligence before booking one of the smaller ships in the fleet. We are planning to book the Bermuda itinerary in the near future.

just got off the same cruise, the only thing i could note is i felt a lot of the crew look/felt tired. not to say they did a bad job or were negative but some of them looked wiped....

  6. how far from the port is this? any decent snorkeling at this beach? ty

I recommend the beach near the port.

There are many bars/restaurants advertising lounge chairs & umbrellas for reasonable prices along Front Street, but the one I believe to be the best is the Sea View Beach Hotel.

We did this last year for a beach break on our own.

Two lounge chairs with cushions (at least 3 to 4 inches thick); one beach umbrella; a bucket of five beers...for $20. Valid for all day.

In addition to the above, they offer the use of the hotel's public restrooms; a complimentary outdoor shower; & free wifi.

  7. One of our WORST cruise memories is sailing away from Mexico, standing out on the promenade deck, slowly drifting away from the pier.

Then a taxi pulls up at the pier and two screaming people run out, yelling, "STOP! OUR KIDS ARE ONBOARD!" This was before we had kids but it stuck with me.

Never, never, never would I leave my kids onboard! (And they're 12 and 14 now!)

omg thats what i would be my greatest fear.. i wouldn't leave my kids on board either but to each his own...

  8. i hate to fly so thats my number one reason, lol

i also think you get a good bang for your buck cruising as well (i have the ability to cruise last minute alot and always come across good deals), i have two children and theres lot of stuff for them to keep busy.

ill side with others, i am not a huge fan of the food in the MDR which is why we hit specialty restaurants at least half the nights on the cruise, i don't mind paying for the up charge as i have always gotten a pretty good product and great service. i know that going into a cruise im not going to be WOWed by the food in the MDR.

i also live 30 - 40 mins from bayonne (and prob 3 hours from balto) so its very easy for me to hope on a cruise out of there..

i also like trying different locations, even when we do a 3 day bermuda cruise by day 3 im ready to go somewhere else so i like switching it up

  9. Wow! These boards make me realize that I'm slacking in the "being offended" department. If I don't learn to be offended more often, I may actually die happy. That would really suck! lol

I like the foil packets because I can hold them in my hand for 30 seconds before opening them so that they soften up and spread easily.

    i'll second that.

if you get offended by tin foil butter packets you should be wearing the tin foil as a hat so people will see you coming, lol...
