  1. On the Spirit now and no binoculars in the suite. We had to ask for a hair dryer since the last guest apparently walked off(intentionally or not intentionally) with the original one. Guess that's why they gave up on the binoculars.

  2. Also aboard the Spirit. Tried the "Premium" Internet service which I s supposed to handle high speed needs such as videos. Not worth the extra since it's just under 2 mbps. Package for unlimited standard service for the entire cruise is $240 and premium is $355. You can use both the purchased package as well as the one hour per day free package simultaneously. Switching from one device to the other is a little bit of a hassle, but doable.

  3. On recent cruises, both Silversea and Seabourn, saw many wearing blazer, white shirt and tie on formal nights. No one questioned their attire and, quite frankly, I didn't think they looked out of place. Just my opinion.

Both those lines are great and I wouldn't hesitate to sail on either one.

  4. Our cruise last year on the Cloud offered a flat rate for unlimited internet for the entire cruise. I've read that there has been some changes on internet offerings. We're sailing on the Spirit on March 31st. Can anyone give me an update on internet options on the Spirit?

  5. We have sailed more on Silversea than on Seabourn, but our last 21 day cruise on Seabourn was great. We have tried to compare the two and have come to the conclusion that either one offers a great cruise experience and we now choose based on itinerary and price between the two. WE presently have reservations on both lines n 2017.

  6. We were on the Quest last week and when a guest asked if smoking was allowed, the waiter in the observation bar told him it was allowed only on the port side after 8 PM. I can't believe the policy changed in the past week. Sounds like someone on the staff may have gotten their signals crossed.

  7. Just got off the Quest after 3 great weeks. During that time we had two "smoking events", both in the Observation Bar. We took the attitude that the OB was off limits after 8 pm and dealt with it. Not necessarily a game channger as far as any future Seabourn cruises, but, hard to understand Seabourn management's position. In both cases only two smokers made it uncomfortable for dozens of guests. Doesn't make much sense.

  8. It really depends on what is important to you. If you like extravagant shows and lots of Casino action, Seabourn or Silversea is probably not for you. Personally we like the small ships with open seating dining a d personal service therefore, we stick with Seabourn or Silversea. We consider them equal from an overall cruise experience perspective. Haven't tried Regent and Crystals dining arrangement doesn't suit us.

  9. Presently on the Quest for the past two weeks. This is our first Seabourn cruise in many years and, so far, have found the emtire cruise experience up to the standards we would expect to receive on a luxury line. The food and service has been excellent. Can only go by our own experience.

  10. Had dinner at the TK Grill last night and was quite impressed. It had a limited, but varied menu, excellent service, and every item we ordered was well prepared. The portions are too large, in my opinion (I had a sirloin steak that had to be at least 16 ounces) and there should have been mention on the menu that house wines were available as well as the premium wines listed. All in all, we found it a great dining experience and plan to return next week during the second leg of our cruise.

  11. Have been on the Quest for 9 days now and smoking has not been a problem until last night. About 40 people in the observation bar were enjoying the Norwegian fjords when a couple came in and lit up. Within 3 minutes the smell of cigarette smoke permeated the entire room. The bar started to clear out immediately leaving the smokers wondering where everyone was going. The piano player lost most of his audience as the smoke smell reached the starboard side of the room. Several, people out the the hall were complaining to any member of the staff they encounterd.I complained to one officer who replied "it's too cold for them to smoke outside". It's a shame that two people can be allowed to inconvenience twenty and that Seabourn corporate is willing to overlook it. I guess the Observation Bar is off limits for us after 8 for the remainder of the cruise.

  12. On Silversea, the butler and room steward work together as a team so that one or the other is available any time during the day. The butler does perform some chores that the room steward on Seabourn does not, however, we have not found it to be an issue. Sevice on both is excellent. As far as unpacking, Silversea does offer that service, but,I don't expect many take advantage of it.

  13. Whn Seabourn indicates embarkation time of 1400 hours, is there problem showing up an hour or two early? I know with Silversea, if you shown up at nooon.instead of 2 PM, they just send you to the dining roomh for lunch and tell you your suite will be available by 2 PM

  14. Here's a technical question. I signed up for Verizon Travel Pass program. Basically, you get charged $10 for each day you actually use your phone in port. The minutes and data come off your regular Verizon plan. If you use your phone on the ship, you pay the exorbitant charges for calls and data. The question, if you're in port, but on the ship, is there a way to know if your roaming on the Travel Pass program (unlimited minutes and plenty of data) or, are you on the ships roaming ?

  15. What is the difference between a V3 and a V5 on Deck 6 on Soujourn and Odyssey? They look exactly the same to me. Is it just a matter of location?

Did they offer you an upgrade?

  16. We're sailing on the Quest on the 28th and waiting for suite assignment. According to Seabourn, we will be informed "within 7 days of embarkation". Sounds like you just don't know until a few days before sailing.
