  1. Still waiting for my refund - cancelled thru their email sent on March 13.  The very nice and helpful rep I spoke to today (unlike the last most unhelpful one!) told me that my refund has been “created” as 2 separate amounts (down payment and final payments) on 7 April and should reach my CC either this Friday or next Friday.  I wonder if this means they only send out refunds on Fridays?  I’ll wait and see.

When did Celebrity announce the cancellations?  Trying to remember the actual date, because I asked for my refund about 2 days later with the online form..I guess I should have taken better notes...obviously no refund....was for 3-29 Edge sailing...

I got an email on 13 March cancelling all cruises from 14 March - 14 April.  My Silhouette cruise was to have left on 27 March. I assume you may have got the same email on that date - it was not cruise specific.   I immediately opted for a full refund through the link in that email.  No money yet but I continue to get emails cancelling my excursions (all “bought” using Celebrity OBC) and my MDR dining times.  Latest such email was this morning.  These give me “hope” that my refund is in the process somewhere, but who knows?

  3. Don’t know if this will help you Bebe but when my 27 March cruise was cancelled, I cancelled my self-made flights with both Air Canada and Westjet online.  Because of the pandemic they were offering to re-book these flights but without having to pay their standard $200 re-booking fee.  Would have been nice to get a refund but future flight credits we can probably use since we fly to see family in Calgary once or twice a year.  The downside (at least with the AC one) is that it must be used within a year of being booked - which means for us that it must be used before sometime in November.  Would be nice if they would extend the timeline some - if we still can’t fly (or feel unsafe flying)  by then we’ll see if they’ll extend the credit.  I forget what the timeline with Westjet is, but probably something similar to AC.

Since  AC doesn’t want people clogging up their phone lines you may want to send an email - at least that way you have a record of trying to contact them.

  4. In another universe I would be sailing out of Fort Lauderdale today on the Silhouette for our 9-day Caribbean cruise.  But I’m not.  Two weeks today Celebrity cancelled our cruise and sent me an email (along with many others) offering the option of a 125% FCC or a full refund.  For us it was a no-brainer - I clicked on the link in the email and filled out the necessary info for a refund.  But as others have noted, I got no confirmation email of my refund choice even though their original email said I would get one.  Now I know I’m not the only one they need to deal with so I’ve been patient.

A few days ago I got a slew of emails each one cancelling a separate excursion that I had booked using OBC - so no refund there for me.  But it gave me cause for some hope.  Today (since it’s been 2 weeks) I called to see “how my refund was going” - waited on the line for almost 2 whole minutes until I spoke to someone.  After checking, he told me that my request was indeed in their system and that refunds should be out within 3-5 weeks.  I assume this is what they’re telling everyone.  I’m not too worried - if they don’t go bankrupt I’ll get my money eventually. But it would be nice to get it before Monday - my credit card bill is due then and this month it is quite high - the refund would handle it nicely!

  5. No refund yet for me........but.  After my 27 March Silhouette cruise was cancelled I filled out the refund link in the email Celebrity sent me last Friday.  Never got a confirmation email as promised, but I get the feeling that nobody else did either.  I have held back on phoning them as I know how busy they are but I keep wondering if my “file” is even in their refund system yet.  Then this morning I’ve got 6 emails from Celebrity, each one cancelling one of the excursions I had “purchased” using OBC credit.  So I am still optimistic that something might actually being done to my file.  But still waiting for $ back to my credit card.

  6. I just checked the price of a future cruise I might take in Feb 2021 using any FCC I get if I cancel my current cruise.  Price for the cabin has risen $674CDN in 2 days from when I first picked it out.  Same cabin, same perks.  Not impressed.

  7. I think it was sent out to Captain’s Club members - at least mine was.  And you’re right, it doesn’t tell us anything different.  And then again maybe just to Captain's Club members who are due to travel in the next little while.

I just noticed - it was addressed to me “personally” by my first name from my good friend LLP!!

So was this sent by Celebrity or the TA on behalf of the customer. What happens if the doctor won't give a note?

    Ontario Cruiser

Sent directly by Celebrity.  I didn’t use a TA.
Someone has put a copy of it on the other long thread about this issue - the one that was started a few days ago before the email went out.

    Uh, really???

The URL you are providing is the for same website that I provided in my post. Perhaps you didn't read it all the way to the bottom.  And if you had gone to the this URL and actually taken the time to read its contents, you would have found that there is no advisory on cruising. As I said previously, it only provides a link to the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) website and the latter's recommendation that Canadians avoid all cruise ship travel.

I have to agree with you.

  10. We have stayed a few times at the Rodeway Inn & Suites Airport/Cruise Port and would not hesitate to recommend them.  While we fly in, I know they have a stay& park price.  I doubt very much you will find anyplace with free parking.  They have free shuttles to/from both the airport and port and have a few buses.  Their drivers are employees of the hotel, not third party.  We have used this shuttle service a number of times and it works (at least for us! ) flawlessly.  We are staying here again in late March.

  11. CeeeKr is absolutely correct.  When my wife and I only have one internet ‘connection’ we take turns using it.  She is on it most of the time and turns her iPad/phone off once or twice a day to “allow” me to check my emails.  We both have internet on our upcoming cruise so I will not have to count on her goodwill this time LOL.

  12. We have a noon flight after our March Silhouette cruise.  Planning to carry off our bags but never done this before.  Just wondering about what time we should be down and ready to get off.  And is there usually a line up?  Getting off the ship is one thing; getting through Customs is another one all together.  We both have NEXUS (which gives us Global Entry) but I’ve read that this is not always going to speed things up for us at PE.

  13. My wife and I are avid snorkelers and have always booked cruises to include places that we can snorkel.  We took this excursion 2 years ago and it was the absolute best snorkelling experience (as an excursion) we’ve ever had.  We’ve booked them again for our upcoming Silhouette cruise in March.  Can’t wait.

  14. We have stayed at the Rodeway near the airport a couple of times and wouldn’t hesitate to use it again.  It has free shuttle from the cruise port and to the airport.  Won’t need it for our upcoming cruise as we were able to get an earlier flight than before.

So true.  It seems that what they have for sale in their ship's apple store is very haphazard.

When they had an iPad for sale and also a combination cover/keyboard for the iPad, we wanted to buy both, except that the cover/keyboard they were selling did not fit the iPad model they were selling.

One day during the cruise they were selling t-shirts for the World Wildlife Fund.

It is the exact same World Wildlife t-shirt that they have been selling for at least the past 3 years.

I mentioned that fact to the guy who was selling them.  He just shrugged and replied "That's what they send us."

So I wrote a letter to the WWF suggesting that if they changed to a different style and color t-shirt they could sell a whole lot more of them as every previous cruise passenger who wants one already has it.

I never received a reply, and on my last cruise they were still selling the same t-shirt that they had for sale last time, and the time before that, and the time........

I bought one the first time I saw them but you are absolutely right - I’m not interested in buying another ‘exactly the same’ t-shirt no matter how old the cause.
