Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. He definitely won't be going in the Pullman! I believe the sofa below is a single
  2. We are looking at a northern Europe cruise on the Sky Princess next year with our child who will be 2 years old by that stage. We are planning to go for a mini suite to allow us some more space and the important balcony to escape to when our child is sleeping! We plan to get him to sleep on the sofa bed however from what I've seen the sofa bed folds out to a double which will make it difficult to get past it to get to the balcony. However I've also seen one of the mini suites as a 4 berth which has the sofa as a single bed and a pullman bed above which would be better for us. Is the sofa different in the 3 and 4 berth mini suites or is the sofa the same in all mini suites and can be changed to either a single or double if required?
  3. We are looking at booking the Northern Europe cruise sailing from Southampton in June 2024. We've have not sailed with MSC before however judging how how cramped the ship looks by some YouTube reviews recorded from over the summer school holidays it does worry me how busy it will be and how easy it will be to access pools etc. Does anyone have any experience of what the capacity issues are like outside of the school holiday period from May to June?
  4. I'm looking at booking the Virtuosa cruise sailing from Southampton to Northern Europe in June 2024. Judging by what I've seen on YouTube etc the lack of seating and space especially in the outdoor areas is off putting. Does anyone have any experience of how busy it will be on those cruises from previous experience?
  5. After an excellent cruise to Norway this year we are looking at a repeat next year on the Sky Princess. Our child will be 2 next year and will probably be too big for the travel cot we used this year. From what I can see the standard balcony cabins on the do not have sofa beds and have Pullman beds which would not be suitable for our child due to the height they are fixed at. I'm presuming that unless there is an alternative to this in the cabin that the only option is to upgrade to the deluxe balcony cabin which has the sofa bed? Also I've noted that the childrens' facilities are for children from 3 years onwards. Will our child be able to use the treehouse (the bit for the youngest) if we supervise him?
  6. Looks like an upgrade to a deluxe balcony then! Shame the ship doesn't have the same layout as the Iona's balcony cabins - the sofa bed was a better alternative
  7. After an excellent cruise on the Iona we are looking at a repeat next year on a cruise on the Brittania. Our child will be 2 next year and will probably be too big for the travel cot we used on the Iona. From what I can see the standard balcony cabins on the Brittania do not have sofa beds and have Pullman beds which would not be suitable for our child due to the height they are fixed at. I'm presuming that unless there is an alternative to this in the cabin that the only option is to upgrade to the deluxe balcony cabin which has the sofa bed?
  8. Does anyone know the rough departure time of Iona from Hellesylt in June? I'm attempting to arrange a private excursion and if the times tie in
  9. I've checked the timings of the timetable together with the timings of the P&O excursion departures. Same times as when the ferry departs so it looks like it's the same ferry which P&O uses albeit P&O are charging double!
  10. With a month to go before our cruise on Iona to Norway I thought I would attempt to book a P&O excursion to allow us to get to Geiranger on a boat transfer. Unfortunately the one option we had in mind has now sold out. Is there an alternative tour operator in Hellesylt who offer a similar boat transfer? I am aware that there is a car ferry however I've been told it's arrival times can be flakey to say the least! Either that is it worth biding our time and wait until we are on board and take advantage of any cancellations from those who booked prior?
  11. From what I've researched there is a local operator in Olden who provide the transport to the Skylift. Their website provides the same service at roughly the same price. Seems like they are taking advantage of a captive market / poor public transport links.
  12. In short is there a cheaper transport alternative to get from the dock in Olden to Loen Skylift? I can currently purchase tickets for the Skylift direct from their website for around £35 per person. However P&O and the linked tour operator are currently charging £80 for Skylift tickets and transport there. £45 for a 6 mile round trip is extortionate!
