Thank you very much for your review and photos! I am doing this itinerary next month and it will be my first 'longer' cruise.

We were on the Crown from May 25 to June 6, 2019. Our passports were taken when we checked in for the cruise in Southampton. We didn't get them back until a few days before the end of the cruise (our room steward delivered them to us and we had to sign for them). People who embarked in Dublin on May 28 didn't get their passports back until June 6 per the group in the Wheelhouse bar waiting to go on their shore excursions. There was a lot of confusion with people embarking/disembarking in 3 different ports - many guests didn't know about the other ports of embarkation and wondered why there were already so many people on the ship. Getting off the ship for shore excursions was easy - go to the Wheelhouse Bar, get a number and out you go within a few minutes. The most we had to wait was 10 minutes in the Theater to gather everyone together for the buses. Those on private excursions didn't have to wait long either. Several ports were working ports and people could not just get off the ship and wander around - you had to take a shuttle ($16 round trip) from the ship to the port entrance. Your Princess Patter will give details of each port. This cruise was one of the best we had ever been on as far as the ports and excursions but I wouldn't want to be the person(s) in charge of getting people on and off the ship.
Thanks Diver2014. Where did you embark?

Leenie, we did not have to hand over our passports during the cruise. We kept them in the cabin safe except for the time when we had the Irish immigration control staff come on board in Cobn and stamp them.
Glad to hear this - thank you!

Just got off the Crown this week - embarkation/debarkation in Dublin - It appears that they've got their immigration issues figured out, (although not all the staff is aware of this as we had received a few different scenarios depending on who we asked!) We only had to show up for our passports to be stamped once and that was when we got back to Ireland (the port of Cobh). Everyone met in the main dining room, numbers were given to you as you arrived. A long table with about 6 immigration officials was set up and groups of 20 or so at a time were called up, the official said "hello", asked a few questions, stamped your passport and we were off. Easy peasy.
Thank you for posting!
Earlier posts indicated people who embarked in Dublin had to hand over their passports for a few days. Did you have to do that? It seems not but I just want to confirm. Thanks!

I'll be on this cruise leaving from Dublin in August. I really hope these issues are under control by then. I'll be really interested to hear from anyone who has been on this cruise recently to know if it has improved.

Ditto. I wish people would realize they really can dress up as much or little as they like and be fine. On every one of my numerous Celebrity cruises there have always been some people very dressed up. Be it an anniversary, other special occasion, wanting professional photos taken or just the enjoyment of dressing up. Then there will be suits, sports coats with a tie, sports coat with a polo shirt and polo/golf shirt and khaki pants.
I feel the same. People can dress up as much or as little as they would like.
Unfortunately, last week on the Equinox, I was witness to a man ridiculing another for wearing a t shirt in the elevator one evening. He was in the elevator - not in the dining room or anywhere one might be expected to dress up a bit. I know dress code is a hot topic, but I wish there was less judgement.

No, there is no coffee card offered on Celebrity. Which ship did your friends say they purchased one?

The Surf Internet package is appearing in my Cruise Planner now for my upcoming Equinox cruise. I see the price in Canadian dollars: $120 CAN for 8 days.
Overview
Our new value-priced Surf Internet Package is for anyone who simply wants the ability to text, check email, surf the web, and keep in touch with family and friends while on vacation. This package does not include VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) technology such as FaceTime, Skype, or the ability to stream videos though Netflix and YouTube.

There really is no need to rush to the tender. You can take your time and others will just walk past you if you are going a little slower. If you think that you might need assistance I might recommend contacting special needs and arranging for a wheelchair.
Thank you very much! 🙂

Thanks for your reply Carole2313. My travel partner doesn't have a wheelchair, but is concerned about needing to try to quickly walk the length of the ship to get to the tender (and keep up with the crowd). So I'm wondering if there is any assistance to get from point A to B onboard. I will inquire onboard!

Hi,
I can't recall from past Celebrity cruises, but is there an option to have wheelchair assistance from the area where we wait to be called for tenders to the actual tender location? I will be traveling with someone who is unable to walk fast and struggles with long distances so wheelchair assistance would be a great help. Otherwise they are fine getting on/off the tender, don't need a wheelchair around the ship, etc.
Thanks!

Tourist1292, if you do call Celebrity to find out more about the Surf Internet Package please let us know. I am interested as well! Thanks.

Yes, it's usually offered.
It costs $$. There are sign up sheets in the entrance to the gym for the various classes offered.
It is posted in the Patter (at least occasionally). Maybe it depends on how much room is needed for all the other events.
Thank you! I should have known it would cost $$. :)

Hi,
I will be on the Regal soon and I'm wondering if the Fitness Center offers yoga classes. I've looked at some recent Patters and see that Zumba is offered in the atrium, but I don't see anything about yoga. Does anyone know if they offer yoga on board?
Thanks!

I got them at a store on Creek St. Cant remember the name but it was a fairly good sized store in the middle strip of the creek. They had all kinds of lotions, face masks, soaps made with the glacier silt. I picked up a couple different brands including Glacier Smoothie.

I ended up finding some at the Blasphemous Bill's store in Ketchikan. They were a little bit cheaper when buying three.

Hi,
Looks like my ship will be docked at the South Franklin Street Dock and I'm wondering if there is a shuttle that will pick passengers up from that location. I see that there is a shuttle from the further out AJ dock - does that also stop at the Franklin dock? I am travelling with family who can walk, but have some limitations in terms of distance. So, if we could cut down on the walking time by using a shuttle that would be good.
Thank you.

Update: . . .We also purchased some of the glacier soaps. Tip: they are actually cheaper in Ketchikan then at the store in Juneau.

Where did you find the soaps in Ketchikan?

In Sydney yesterday and Halifax today weather sunny in 60's. No sign of leaves turning.
They're starting to turn a bit further inland now. Should be really pretty in the next few weeks. :)

I took the beach shuttle. That was $7 each way. I paid cash but the say the take credit cards. Also had free WiFi. If you are only going to Horseshoe I recommend the shuttle over the bus. The shuttle goes right down to the beach. And did not have to wait.
Where at the Dockyards can I find the shuttles? Seems like the easiest option for me. Thanks!

They don't sell the ticket booklets at the Dockyard. They do sell the one and two day transportation passes in addition to tokens. The passes are good on both buses and ferries.

Great - thanks!

At the Dockyard, 8:00 am.
I hope I won't confuse things even further, but is it correct that the Visitor Center at the Dockyard doesn't sell tickets and that only tokens can be purchased there? Thanks!

There is always a per minute charge on all the ships
Thanks! I've been reading different things lately so I wasn't sure if there was still a per minute charge.

Currently on the Summit. 7 night cruise. On line, prior to the cruise, xcelerate was $140 for 7 nights. On board it was $199. I questioned the price on board, Celebrity said $199!!!!
You can purchase 1 package for your cabin. Only 1 person can login at a time.
I will be on the Summit in a few weeks. Can you tell me if there was a per minute option for WiFi? I only want to get on occasionally to send/receive email and definitely don't need the unlimited package.
Thanks!

Yes. A gentleman has been doing the To The Top Shuttle for years during the beach season. He runs up and down all day. Most people only take it up. He has signs at the bottom.
Perfect! Thank you very much!

Glad to hear your cruise was great!
I am embarking in Dublin next month and I'm wondering if you had to hand over your passport? From previous posts/reviews some passengers didn't have their passports for most of the cruise.
