Google luxury cruising. There are a handful of agencies that primarily deal in high end cruises (including river Cruises). Read their websites very carefully and you will usually see the benefits for booking with that agency spelled out.
These would not be a Mom and Pop TA in the local strip mall.

Sounds like cruising just isn't for you.

Roothy, thanks for the excellent information and challenging questions. I'm sorry, JVillegal, but is there a problem with cross-participation in our boards? I'd like to think any traveler can offer info or ask a question on any thread even if it is redundant or covered in another section. I'm sorry if I misread what you wrote. Or do you two know each other and you were just kidding?
No just trying to give Roothy123 more places to look for information.
While answering at least one of her questions:)

Mediterranean Ports board may be another great resource.
As to the Plaza Roma luggage drop I used it and there where long lines. It closed minutes after I left my bags because it was full. This was pretty early in the morning still, so be advised about that possibility.

Well I certainly know it's easier to clean up after 2 people than to clean up after 5 people living in a space intended for 2......

I would remove the tipping on the kid altogether and then use cash for the waiter who did serve them or any other service you use. I believe in tipping for services rendered. There is only one cabin to clean, one bathroom, so why would you tip for 5 times (you say there are 5 of you)
OMG, did you really say that??? 5 passengers in one cabin??? Only one cabin to clean? IMHO this is 5 X the normal mess... Unbelievable!

OP said "As we are both non drinkers for us this seems a waste of money for us." It seems their concern is the cost of their wine/alcohol drinks that they would be paying for but not actually drinking.
Yes that is what they posted. But after the replies to their post maybe they think all these river cruises do is drink drink drink.... I think the above posters have given them other things to consider. Hoping the OP stops back by, as posters have taken the time to respond???

We have not heard back from the OP as to what has motivated their concerns??

I tried to post a link but the thread is closed & locked maybe that's why I could not do it...
Look on this board "AttilaTheFun" is the poster July 5, 2013 so it's an older thread and things have changed a bit.

Most only incl Beer and Wine at meals. Grand Circle may not incl even that much. But don't discount a wonderful opportunity with a great provider simply because of wine with dinner. Uniworld and Tauck the only ones completely All-Inclusive.

Debit vs. credit
in First Time Cruisers
Posted
Take cash with you and give it to the front desk. They will draw your daily expenses from this banked amount.
I would check your cruise line about a cash account and what they require as a minimum and then figure out how much you plan on spending.
It is of course safest to have a credit card for an emergency (to get you home if needed).
