  1. I've had it twice. I found it very good--it is a whole lobster, split. More than enough for one person--I actually shared mine both times with DD. Is it worth $29???? Not sure, but nothing else appealed to me at dinner that night. ;)

    Here's a photo...

Umm that lobster looks a hundred years old with something nasty on it lol. Would put me off my dinner if someone at the table was eating that :D:D:D

Look like something from the film Aliens!

  2. Hey,

Just a question so I know for future reference as not quite sure how it all works.

Can you pay for excursions in advance once you book?

Or does it have to go on your ship pass and pay at end of cruise? Same with tips can these physically be paid in advance?

I like things a bit neat and would rather the bill on my account that I have at end of cruise is just for drinks and any other purchases.

    Thanks for any help.

  3. Surely if the food is not up to quality, then less people will go. Especially if the price is increased.

Will this not just prompt RCC to do something about it? I mean they really want people to pay extra to go to the specialality ones!

Not that I have been yet, but I think its really rotten that they going to charge that amount and then say for more extra money you can have an even nicer steak.

Surely the steak in the paid for places should be great anyway???

Again, I don't know cruise lines but if people don't like it they will stop going and RCC will have to act?

  4. I will be pleased either way as it will be my first cruise. Yet I was surprised a bit with there choices etc.

Maybe something uber for Summer 2016 with it being there 25th anniversary lol. Not so sure now.

I would expect RSVP will prob do a Feb or March cruise that is very similar also.

  5. Now after reading that i want to go sooner :D

You see pictures etc, yet I think its still going to shock me what it all looks like in the flesh. Hard to really comprehend without seeing.

Exciting. Yes i will be sure to explore the whole ship.

I am not sure where parties would be hosted on the ship and if it has a night club. I think when Atlantis charters the ships they use the pool deck for parties.

Will it matter too much where my cabin is? Guessing most things fairly easy to get too?

    Here is the itinary.

Jan 23 ~ Jan 31 RCCL Navigator of the Seas

    3100 plus guests

Departs Fort Lauderdale to Labadee, Grand Cayman, Cozumel Mexico and Roatan Honduras

Not sure I would have chosen some of these ports. Will google them.

As said it will be a Charter company taking over the ship. So in some ways I guess the ports are a added bonus. Will all be new so will still be great fun.

  6. Hi,

So all going well I will be booking to go on this ship fro next Jan. It is a full charter so it may be a bit different from average cruise.

I have never been on a cruise before. So what I am wondering is this ship a good ship for a first timer? I will be 35 and looking forward to trying cruising at long last :D.

A few months back I thought it was going to be the Allure that we were going on and many people said it was not a great ship to experience a first time cruise on.

So is the Navigator a nice ship? I looked at pics and from a first time cruisers point of view I have to say it looks similar to a lot of ships lol. Is it a good size? Do people tend to like this ship? I have read some reviews and seems quite mixed. Gets me down a bit people saying how much standards dropping etc. That is why I thought I would ask here.

    Thanks for any help.

  7. Hope you had a great time on your cruise! Glad you booked again for next year :) Oh and BTW. Congrats on your upcoming 50th!!

I was surprised to see its on Navigator as I thought Atlantis mainly used Celebrity now. Navigator does look nice though.

  8. Thanks for the reply.

Well I would like to try and get on Jan one as it is departs from Florida. However I would go to the March cruise if I could not get to the one in Jan.

I just want to experience what an Atlantis cruise is like really :) They look a lot of fun.

Seeing the ports would be great but also parties great fun also!

As it will be a first time cruising for me I am not sure if it matters which ports I go to.

  9. Yea I saw this yesterday. Good to know what is happening the first few months of the year.

All going well will try and get the January Cruise with RCC.

Does anyone know if the cruises that go from San Juan in March are as good?

Not sure if many people willing to fly to San Juan to embark. Is the age rage of people about the same on both cruises?

Either way will be great to do a cruise next year!

  10. I have been to Iguazu Falls, Machu Picchu, and Moscow where excursions are offered from port, and there are many such examples (Berlin?). But I did all on land not cruises and I wouldn't recommend doing any of them from a port. It is just too much in too short a time in my estimation. Iguazu is the most simple as it is just one sight, although there are variations between seeing the falls from the Brazil vs. the Argentina side, whereas there is so much more to Moscow and even Machu Picchu. The falls are impressive and massive, but that's it; stand and watch one natural wonder once you get there. But would I do it on a relatively short but rigorous cruise excursion? No, not me. But plenty of people do and if you do it I hope it is the greatest thrill for you.

Thank you for sharing that. I do take on board what you are saying. I need to give this some thought and do some more research!

  11. Thanks for the replies.

I looked at all I could apart from maps to see how far inland they were. :)

Some on trip advisor had said they visited while on a cruise so I thought maybe there is one with an excursion. I just could not find it.

When I said near I did not mean actually sail near the falls hehe. I just meant not too far for an excursion.

  12. Hi,

I have been searching the net for the past hours but got a bit stuck.

Maybe someone can tell me yes or no to this question.

Does any cruises in South America go near Iguazu Falls? It is on the border of Argentina and Brazil. You may or may not have heard of them but they are quite famous. I would love to see the water falls :)

    Thanks for any help!

  13. Tipping threads always get a lot of heat in them :)

As I said before I do tip and its rare I don't. One time in NYC a server was so unfriendly and borderline rude I left no tip. Every time though I will tip and have given more than expected if server really nice and helpful.

The problem for a lot of us Brits and some other countries is that tipping is not the norm for us! I get that when we visit a country we need to follow there customs etc. Yet it is a hard pill to swallow with the tipping thing at times when it is forced on you. Dare I let someone in a hotel open a door for me?? Damn too late am I meant to tip him?? Taxi driver takes bags out of car and wont let me do it. Another expected tip. It does get a bit much.

I resent so much that companies are allowed to pay such a terrible wage and expect others to tip so there staff get paid .

I think it is shameful how bad the the cruise lines pay there staff. I use the word pay very lightly. Shocking.

Yet it still feels a bit annoying when tips increased when it seems company should pay more!

To get a tip for handing me a bottle of water is shocking. Yet I accept that is the way it is. It does not mean though that we still find it easy to accept which I guess it is why these threads get heated.

I am hoping most Americans don't think all us brits just mean and stingy. Most of us are not. It is just we do find it hard to swallow some of the tipping stuff at times. We may grumble but we do tip :)

I still stand by that I think its is 1000% wrong for any employee to damage or do something to a passagers food or properly due to no tip 'ie missing suit case'. No excuse for that! Sure the person was a jerk no tipping but that does not make that kind of retaliation right in my book!

Anyway I would rather pay some more for a cruise and know that crew get a better wage but that is not going to happen.

    Anyway just my thoughts
