  1. I work in a Solution Center environment and we often have to get our customers passwords in order to resolve their problems. Think about it. We need to re-create the issue which is impossible without "being you". However, we then advise the customer to change their password. I can not think of a way to assist customers without "pretending" to be them. I don't think that their request was "out of the ordinary" for an IT Help Desk.

  2. I am new to NCL and my only cruise prior to the one I'm booked on in Janurary 2016 is with Carnival. I think your complaints should all be directed to your TA. It sounds like the TA didn't have your best interest in mind. I booked directly with NCL and got great perks so I'm an advocate for booking directly without the TA.

  3. Will be getting off the Star on Jan 10th, around 10 or 11. Going to ask concierge if we can take our time. Our flight isn't till 6pm. Anything to do before we head to the airport? Group of 7.

I love the Riverwalk. You would need to store your luggage though. Research Ybor as there is a lot of history there. Since you have that much time, you could rent a car and go to Clearwater Beach. That is my favorite place to date in Florida.

  4. Ok, we have a cruise booked for January on the Gem out of NYC. We have both cruised with NCL several times. Here's the situation. We are recently married. Our current reservation has my wife's maiden name listed on it. Her current/valid passport ALSO has her maiden name on it (so the reservation name, and passport name MATCH) but she has gone ahead and changed her name on her drivers license to my last name. If you show a passport at check-in, are you still required to show another ID? If so, her last name on the passport (maiden name) and last name on the license (my last name) WON'T match. Below is what I found on NCL's website. I'm wondering if we should expedite a new passport with her "new" married last name to match her drivers license, and switch the name on the reservation. Anyone have any first hand experience with this? Or does anyone know if we will have a problem if we don't get her an updated passport with the "new" married name? Thanks a lot for any and all insight, I really appreciate it.:D:D:D

I believe you can bring your marriage license that shows the connection from her maiden name to the marrried name on the license.

  5. Do not pay attention to the negatives. Especially on the Escape. I haven't even cruised on NCL yet, going in Jan 2016, but until you hear 3.000 complaints, you don't have a thing to worry about. We are going on the MUCH smaller Star and there have been so many negatives after her first few cruises after returning to Tampa, that if I listened to those I would want to cancel. The Escape is new and it will take a few cruises to get it all together. You will have a great time.... Any day on a cruise, regardless of the all the "stuff" is better than any day NOT on a cruise!!

  6. Sailing on the Star November 8. Does anyone have any specific questions? I'll try to reply during the week (if possible), but most definitely upon return.

Please disregard everything you have read on CC and go in with an open mind. Come back and report your experience. Cruising on Jan 3rd and I am close to not coming back to cc as the only people that post are the 1% that had bad experiences.... Have a great time and give us an honest brief review!!

    ;)

  7. Have not sailed Norwegian in years & notice how they are really charging a lot for things.

I do not want to but their internet package. Is there a way to buy a very short amount of time that would just be enough to print boarding passes ?

    Thanks

If that is all you need to do, then yes, print them at the airport for no charge. However, if you are flying Southwest and want to Check In, you will need internet connectivity. I agree with the poster said to go to the Internet Café and offer $5 to jump on, check in, jump off.

  8. We are booked in a suite on the Star. I logged in 100 days out to make reservations, and the Teppanyaki wasn't listed at all to make reservations. I logged in again today (89 days out) and it still isn't listed. Did they remove this restaurant from the Star? Is it only available to book onboard?

Also, we have the unlimited dining (the original one that allows us to eat in an upcharge restaurant every night). Would you book an upcharge restaurant every night? I understand that it is almost impossible to decide the day before or day of that you want to eat in one of the surcharge restaurants anymore (this is what we most loved about NCL when we cruised a few years ago). Which restaurants woud you book twice?

    Thanks for the input!!

I contacted the pre-concierge at 1-855-625-4283 and they took the request that can only be confirmed after boarding. We too are in a suite on the Star.

We had reservations here for our upcoming cruise in January. Fortunately, my son moved to a bigger place that can accommodate the 5 of us flying into Tampa from out of town. They cost a little more but excellent location and shuttle from airport to port and back to airport after cruise I believe if needed. Go to their website and click on "Specials" and then the "Snooze and Cruise".

  10. I received the email below on May 29. 2015 for our January 3, 2016 cruise on the Star:

  11. I am going to share my opinion... My husband and I have cruised together 1 time prior to our upcoming family cruise on 1/3/2016. That first cruise was in an inside cabin. Our upcoming family cruise is in a SJ Family Suite on the Star. And the children in the family are grown.. 30. 22, 20 ,20. UBP for mom and dad...good thing... I know it is going to be tight but you know what...we are going to be making such wonderful memories.. who cares if we are smushed in a SUITE... it will be such an awesome experience for all of us..

  12. I am a smoker, but I will do what I need to do to comply. As long as I can go sit somewhere in the morning and have my morning drink with my smoke I will be good. My first cruise was on the Carnival Dream in Jan 2015.. The smoking deck was out of the way. Those that didn't smoke weren't forced to pass through the smokers. I hope that the Star is set up the same way. However, if it isn't..I will adapt.

  13. I booked our family cruise in January of this year,,2015. We booked an SJ on the Norwegian Star since our oldest son lives in Tampa,. Only 5 of us would need to fly. We prepaid our service charges, which at the time we booked was not one of the promo options. We got the 2 UBP's, the other 4 soda packages, and all 6 of us got the UDP... I actually cancelled and rebooked, lost $100 OBC but saved $1000...so in the end it is all good.
