Thanks for the answers! Looks like not such a great deal then, for us anyway. :)

I have 2 questions,
First, they say each person can buy up to 4 but under certain conditions you may be able to redeem 2 certificates. Is this per person? So if you are booking an inside cabin each person can use a certificate or if booking a balcony each person could redeem 2? Or is redemption per cabin?
Second, it says you can use the certificates for taxes on timeshares, has anyone done this? Share experiences? My parents have the Marriotts vacation club so if I could get $250 (or more) for free I would totally take advantage of this!!

We have a small bus driving us to the port in New York so no problem with flying. But I guess we'd have to carry it onboard... We do have one of those shade shelters I forgot all about! We could definitely pack that in a suitcase. We have 17 people in our group so the umbrella would hopefully only encroach on our space but I guess it depends how early we get there and how much space together we can get!
Just wanted to make sure we could actually bring these things onboard!

So if there aren't any umbrellas could we bring our own? I have 2 small beach umbrellas that clamp onto beach chairs and a larger beach umbrella. In a recent review I saw a picture that had one lonely blue umbrella so I'm thinking someone brought their own?

This is great! We have connecting inside cabins on the breakaway in November and our agent said she had to fudge the birthday for my son in the kids room so she could book us in one room and the kids in another with different perks. I've started the checkin but in order to have an ncl account you have to be over 14. It just so happens that my son has the same name as my husband except for the middle so I created an account under him and both reservations show up! When I started the checkin I just made sure the birthdays were correct for each room so hopefully we won't have any card shuffling to do!

So you may be ok just taking your room card and a license off the ship to get back on but what happens if you're not back in time and miss the boat! There's no one there to go back on and get those passports locked in the safe! Then you're stuck without them trying to get home:o

Dark and stormy price was ridiculous, we watched a guy order the ingredients as separate drinks on the package them pour them together, hilarious.

This is exactly what we were thinking of doing on our thanksgiving cruise on the breakaway! We love dark and stormys! It seems that they raised the price on these on a boat that goes to Bermuda whose national drink is the dark and stormy! Seems shady to me.
The thing is goslings black seal rum is considered "super premium" at a price of $16.95 so even if you ordered ingredients seperately you would still be over the $15 limit. Some others I noticed were patron, any grey goose flavor(but not original)
Were going to try out Bacardi black since it's considered premium and then Meyers and see if we can still enjoy a dark and stormy on our beverage package. If it doesn't taste the same there's plenty of other drinks included so we'll just wait until we get home to have one!
I wasn't sure how to link to another thread but search for NECruiser7515, a thread named breakaway menus april 2 sailing, there are great pictures of menus in there!
This is super helpful when thinking about what kind of drinks you'll be ordering. No patron for me!

Loving this review! You are hilarious and I would love to meet you in person, you sound like so much fun! I'm only up to the part where you've worn more drinks than actually drinking, thanks to hammy/prosciutto lol!! And the "Miracle" I can just picture the sequins!!;) Can't wait to finish this up and hear about all the adventures and shananigans you 2 get into!

No problem. But you need to empty the bottle before you get to the ship's gangway.
Also, follow the direction of the ship's crew, and fill your water bottles using clean cups and not by putting your contaminated bottles up to water dispensers.
Thank you!!

Great review! Were going on the breakaway in November but love hearing about how you managed things with the kids, ours will be 5 and 7. Also looking forward to hearing about Nassau as we will be stopping there on our cruise as well and are still up in the air as to what we want to do!

I'm curious about bringing a refillable water bottle, we'd fill it on the ship and carry it around but if we take it off the ship will they let us bring it back on? We were going to bring a couple metal bottles and maybe some empty disposable plastic water bottles. Will we be able to bring those?

It is new on the BREAKAWAY..
Escape the Big Top
A carnival takes an unfortunate turn when a circus act goes awry. A magician puts a curse on everyone, and it’s up to you so solve the clues break the spell. Do you have what it takes to be the first to lift the curse? “Escape the Big Top” is fast-paced and full of excitement and intrigue — a not-to-be-missed activity for the whole family.
Sounds fun! Hope it's still going in November! Trying to get through all the negative comments here and find some good info for our upcoming big family cruise, 16 so far, trying to get more to join us for thanksgiving!

Love seeing menus!! More please!

How about bottled water prices? We are on the breakaway in November and trying to plan our budget for water:rolleyes:, I noticed they have a package of 1 liter bottles you can buy before you board but I was curious about prices at the bar and if they had smaller sizes available? Thanks!

Great review as usual! I was curious what Kendra's shirt says, you said she has a tattoo shop, is it from there? It's cute! The matching tattoos too!

So we drove to FLL and we had made plans to go to the Museum of Discovery for the day. We have a place here something like this (called COSI-Center of Science and Industry) and Sakari loves in there. We figured this was something like it.
Silly me I was looking at the pictures before I read what museum you were going to, the picture looks like museum of disco lol! I was like wow I didn't know there was disco museum and that Kim loves disco that much!:p but seriously that museum looked like lots of fun, thanks for another awesome review!

So excited to read the rest of your review and your upcoming one as well! I wanted to do this cruise back in January because it was so cheap, I think a balcony was$599pp, 3rd and 4th passenger free and the beverage package was included and our airfare nonstop from Boston was under $500 total for 4 people. I just couldn't convince my husband to book, he doesn't think it's safe to bring our 6 and 3 year olds on a cruise and wants to wait until they're like 10:eek:, I don't think I can wait that long, so I'll just keep showing him all these wonderful reviews on here and hope he'll change his mind....
Also I love the mermaid outfit! I showed my 3 year old who also says she's a mermaid and she said she wants one! Lol she's going to have to learn to swim a little better but I'll eventually have to get one for her it's just too cool!!

I'm confused about what showing up at the dock has to do with it? They don't meet you at the dock. You have to either 1) take the bus there or 2) catch a cab there. So, there wouldn't be anyone at the dock waiting for you either way.
We took the bus to mangrove bay at 8:00 for our 8:30 reservation as if we were going to go out on our boat. It was our second day in bermuda and talked to people who were supposed to rent boats or take snorkel excursions the day before and said they were all cancelled due to high winds. The ships both breakaway and summit had trouble docking because of the wind, never mind smaller crafts. We never saw any jet skis or smaller boats out on the water while we were docked, just bad luck I guess!
-
Thank you so much for your kind words. I'm glad you enjoy my reviews and inspiring you to do one like it is awesome! :D
So I have to ask, since you were not able to rent from them and you could not get in touch with them, are they going to charge your cc for the day? That's one thing I'm starting to worry about because from the looks of the extended weather, we may be getting rain the entire time we are there. The last thing I will want to do is ride jet skis with the rain pounding on my face at 35+ mph. Not fun. :(
I haven't found any emails from them, I had over 500 waiting for me when we got back:eek:! So unless they emailed my husband they never contacted us. My phone was working in bermuda, my mom called me and I talked to her, I just couldn't make outgoing calls for some reason... We'll be watching our credit card activity and if anything shows up we'll just dispute it.
Looking forward to reading your review and what you did on your trip!:D

Question: Who told you that shorts weren't allowed? A fellow-passenger or a member of the wait staff?
The maitre d that sat us, as he brought us to the table he mentioned that shorts weren't allowed but still sat us down, my husband went and changed, didn't want to "rock the boat" lol:D

As soon as the summit docked on Wednesday we were one of the first ones off and went and bought our 3 day passes and caught the 9:30 ferry to st. George. We also ran into the former mayor and did his walking tour, I think that was the best part of bermuda and it was free! After the walking tour we ended up at the place they do the dunking of the wench and my husband actually helped dunk her! After that we went to the perfumery saw the unfinished church then took the bus to the caves. But first we had a quick lunch at the swizzle inn. We saw both caves then had ice cream at baileys afterwards. then we walked down to blue hole park/Tom moore's jungle and walked the trails. By then it was after 5:00 so we took the bus back to Hamilton walked around a little but nothing was open and took the next ferry back to the dockyard. I was very pleased we got so much done the first day!

While actually seeing sea glass beach sounds really impressive, your description of Black Bay and the smells of sea glass beach kinda has me thinking twice about this. My original plans was to try to make it there and possibly watch the sunset from there. However, it doesn't sound like the kinda place I want to go and just hang out in (there or the surroundings). Then we had decided to try to locate it from the water by renting the jet skis. I guess we'll see what happens and play it by ear. I at least wanted to get pictures. :(
Yes, we didn't spend much time there, just enough to take a few pictures and walk along the "beach". Black bay is very rocky, not like the clean sandy beach of horseshoe bay. We did also check out snorkel park which is really close to the ship, we went late in the afternoon and just walked in, there wasn't anyone in the admission booth. It seemed nice and sandy, had chairs and a bar and restaurant.

The pool waiters were passing around drinks one day and one was sooooooo good, I think my husband said it was a mind eraser. It was brown on top, I think Meyers rum, then white, piña colada mix?, then red on the bottom, grenadine. They were delicious!!

Just jumping in to give our experience, my husband showed up for dinner on the summit on a casual night in a golf shirt and plaid shorts and was told shorts weren't allowed in the dining room. We were still seated but he went back to the room and put pants on and was back before the waiter came over.

So should I worry about paint being splattered on me during this party? Wear throwaway clothes?
