Good for her-it's nice to hear about a responsible teen making her own way in the world. You must be a proud parent!
I am...in so many ways. :)
Stompy,Key words...
responsible teen
There are a number of teens out there, more than we would know about, that are good, responsible teens and can be trusted to "do the right thing"..
It's the "other" group we always read about the paints the rest of the teens with a broad brush of irresponsibility.
No matter what, she is a teen. She goes to college and I know she does her fair share of drinking, but she's "responsible" about it. Am I of the disillusion, that my child would never do anything stupid...HE!! no!! ;) But I do think/know she could go on a cruise without being a nuisance to others and without crossing the line of of going in the hot tub naked or baring her chest because she's too drunk or some other such thing.

What I never understood is how these kids can AFFORD to travel on their own... I mean what 17 year old has $2000 to spend on a cruise?
Somebody's footin' the bill...
When I was in college I paid my own way and so work took up a lot of my time when I wasn't in class, rather than Beer 101...
Actually my daughter saved for a couple of years to go on her senior spring break trip. She was going to take a cruise, but at the last minute, the only cruise line to allow 18yo's, changed their policy. She ended up doing a Breezes all inclusive in the Bahamas. I didn't pay 2 cents for her. She paid her flight. Her flight had an overnight delay in Georgia and she paid for the hotel, all her own tips, and anything else that went along with the trip. While I recognize that this may not be the case with most teens, you did ask what 17/18yo has the $2K to spend on a cruise. MY teen!!! And I'm very proud of her.:p

Just off the Caribbean Princess (NY-San Juan.) Someone brought a blowup kiddie pool onto the pool deck, inflated it, and then filled it using an empty beer bucket, putting water into it from the nearby pool. Seriously.
Are ya kiddin' me?

I just came off a cruise on the Sea Princess with 53 Ducks from another cruise website. Two of the Ducks had fart machines. Remote controlled fart machines. They would stick it in their back pocket, and let it rip on a crowded elevator, in the buffet, in a cocktail bar. The ship staff caught on real quick, the rest of the cruisers knew the ducks were a bit mischievous, and the elevator rips were crazily funny, since we had to keep a straight face until everyone else rushed off. OMG, none of us are young people any more, we are all responsible administrators, bosses, first responders in times of emergency, but for 10 days we were all crazy Ducks! QUACK!
That's funny as all get out!

So ncl is running a special on the epic but you have to book by august 31st to get it. I am going on the Dawn on August 30th and was planning on buying the $250 deposit. Since I will have already made a deposit for the Epic, can the $250 deposit i buy while on the Dawn go toward final payment for the Epic?
Also the $100 ON board credit that I earn while buying the deposit, do I get to use that while on the Dawn or on the future cruise?
I would think that right there while you are on the Dawn and you buy your future cruise credit you would be able to book the Epic and use the $250 as the deposit right then and there. If you do it the day you embark then you get the $100 OBC for the Dawn and you get the epic discount that you say ends on 8/31.

NYC has very high port charges (along with everything else in the city).
Yeah, I thought that might be the case.
I am not sure, but there are a lot of good deals for 1-4 night cruises (repositioning time) in May and Sept/Oct out of Seattle and Vancouver, BC.Yeah, but if i have to fly there that would defeat the low costs.
-
We wonder the same thing. Even Princess has cheap coastal cruises on the west coast.....not fair!
Norfolk has two 2-nt cruises annually on Carnival and they are $400 pp. For a little more we can take a 7-nt out of FLL. I just wish they had more variety on the east coast at affordable prices.
I looked at Boston, NY and Maryland and all the 1-nighters are $149 to $170 BEFORE port charges and taxes! I do recognize that 2 people will get three meals and a "hotel" for a night, but $400+ for a single night out even with 3 meals each is a bit steep for me.:confused::eek:
-
People in NYC are easy ;).
LOL
You're funny!
-
Why is it so cheap to get a 1-nighter out of Seattle, WA compared with a 1-nighter out of New York City? Going out of NYC is more than double!

Cruise rewards can be used as a full deposit for all cats, EXECEPT Owner's Suites, Garden Villas, and Courtyard Villas. For those 3 cats, the $250 will be applied towards the deposit.
Thank you for this clarification!
We are booked on the Sky in Oct 2009 and the Spirit for Aug 2010. If I buy a Future Cruise Credit of $250 on the Sky, can I apply the credit to the already deposited Spirit and use the $100 OBC on the Sky.This is our first time on NCL.
Great question. I'm interested in this as well.
-
If you want to get a Garden Villa or something similar, will the cruise certificate purchased on a prior cruise be good enough to hold the cabin or since it's generally $1,000pp to hold a cabin like that, will they want more money up front?

We just returned and can answer your questions about parking. In Maui, we returned the first night about 7:30pm. All the spots were gone in the parking lot as well as along the sea wall. There is a security office upon entering the terminal and they directed us and many other cars on where to park. We parked up the road a bit in an industrial area. Not a far walk at all. They also parked cars in another area but those drivers were told they had to move their car by 7am. Parking was free here.
In Kauai, there is a lot about a three minute walk from the terminal. They charged $20 for the night.
If you are renting cars and taking a shuttle from the terminal, the shuttle drivers do a good job of telling/showing you where to park.
Thank you!! This is perfect, excellent information! I really appreciate it.:D

Thank you so very much for resurrecting this thread!!:)

If i would have won this bet, the ladies the bet was with would have had to wear thong bikinis on one of the days at sea, and dressed like dudes (beards and all) one night for Henri's club. The speedo was just a dare from the other guy thats gonna wear one. The mullet is just for kicks. I've actually got people at my job voting on what dress im gonna wear. I have no shame and im darn secure in my masculinity. With that being said, what color should my wig be? :D
Since you seem to be a skinny minnie (or a skinny nightsky as the case may be) I think you should wear a blonde wig, done beautifully, bright pink or red lipstick and a matching mini dress, with silver or black patent pumps! oh, how I wish I were there--and I too am much like you in finding the glass always half full, and all about having fun no matter what! We'd get along great! Have an extra drink for me the night you dress up!
-
Sad part is, i'll be posting my own picture of the craziest thing. Another picture that i will be adding is me in a speeedo (yep, another lost bet). Also me in a mullet wig. I make for my own crazy moments. It takes all kinds right??? :D
You are a funny guy! Do you ever win bets? Assuming occasionally you might, what have you made the loser do/wear?:p

On a RCCL cruise about 2 years ago, the newly married couple on the Love and Marriage game show admitted something everyone remembered for the rest of the cruise. (Unfortunately I didn't see this live because I'm young but I saw it on TV). The question the CD asked was "Where's the strangest place you've ever made whoopy". The woman starts laughing and getting embaressed and whispers to the CD (but I believe the mic caught it or she then said it out loud) but her answer was an elevator...ON THE CRUISE! Hahaha. It was hilarious.
On the cruise we were on 3 years ago, the eldest couple in that game admitted to whoopy on the 16th hole upstairs! ROFL

I'm not sure but I think she was talking about the outfits they wore. At least I don't want to jump to the conclusion she was talking about any thing else. Linda

On our March 08 cruise on Celebrity's Millineum, we dined with a very nice family from Florida. One night, the husband excuses himself. About 1/2 hour later, he shows up, sits down, and starts laughing. His wife asks him where he's been.
He said he had gone to the cabin to pick up some champagne to share with all of us. He rushed back to the table, sat down, and asked if anyone would like a glass of champagne. He said he thought it was odd that noone responded until he realized he didn't recognize anyone. He blurted out, "Where did my family go?"
Apparently, he had gone to the right table but on the wrong deck!
:D
That's funny as heck!

a few years ago after a cruise, my gf (now DW) and I decided to continue our vacation @ Universal Studios (we live in FL). During a visit to the Jurassic Park section of the theme park, we went on an attraction where a Dr. is administering a physical to a very realistically animated Triceratops and giving some speech to the crowd. As it slowly attempts to raise its foreleg for the Dr to examine it, my DW, the animal lover she is, turns to me and says loud enough for the crowd to hear, "Oh my god, poor thing! What's wrong with his foot!?!" and goes closer, very concerned!
I just looked at her and said, "It's a dinosaur."
She turns and looks at me like:
Me: "It's a DINOSAUR!!!"
VERY funny!

No-there were 8 of them out there
There's a mix up between the two of you.....there were 8 people ON the balcony, but not 8 people staying in the balcony room.

not super crazy, but we went on a cruise last february on the norwegian sun, and there was a couple in there 60's that were SUPER SUPER tan....like disgustingly. They were both in relatively good shape, and both wore tiny tiny swimsuits. The thing is, when you tan so much, any part of your body that hangs over will become white...like the man boobs on the guy, and the cheek line of the butts on both of them, and the lady had various ones all up and down her from where her skin would fold over.
Well, I have a 7 year old sister, and I would usually bring her to the pool in the morning, and about half way through the cruise, she asked me, "Laura, why do those people have stripes."
I replied, trying to be funny "because they are of zebra descent."
Well, as you well know, that age has no shame, and she went up to the lady and man and said "hi, i've never met zebra people before."
I was mortified...
Out of the mouths of babes.....now THAT was funny!!!

JAKT- I, too, want to see those photos! That gives me a great idea for my next cruise.........
One of the crazy things I did on the Sovereign: in the dining room there is a small table in the back of the room in an alcove. It's a great table for 6, but my husband and I were the only ones there on our cruise in Sept. Adjacent to the alcove is a linen closet where the waiters get their tablecloths/linens for the room. As I sat and watched the waiters go in and out of there, my husband told me to go hide in there, and turn the light off. Well, when the waiter(s) opened the door I said "BOO" and really scared 'em! One guy sat down and told the next waiter that "there's someone in there!", and of course waiter #2 just had to open the door. I simply stretched out my arm, tablecloth in hand (remember, it's dark in there), and HE got surprised. I've don't this routine on three separate cruises, and it always gets a laugh.
Thats too funny!:D

OMG that is absolutely hilarious! I just spit coffee all over my keyboard - that's so funny! Sometimes parents are able to get back at us for all the times we embarrassed them as children.
Smooth Sailing! :) :) :)
i love your cheerleader cat picture.

Oh I agree, that is a good one!!
Add me to that list..............i was litterally hysterical!! Very loud, too, I might add!:D

I too like the OP's question and hope others will considering chiming in with their answers. I have the Revealed book, but always like to hear what others liked (or didn't like). I don't want to do an excursion. I just want to rent a car and drive to swimming, snorkeling and any other suggestions.
