In case you want to make a notion on the listing, I emailed this group as we are considering this cruise and they estimate 300-400 participants:
NieuwStatendam: 10 February 2019 – 17 February 2019 : Caribbean : CatholicAnswers Group

A 69-year-old passenger of a Holland America cruise ship has been lost overboard at Glacier Bay National Park and Preserve in Alaska.
In a brief news release, the park said Saturday night that it had suspended its search for the man, who was reported missing from Westerdam on Friday. The individual was reported missing at 3:50 p.m. when he did not appear for a medical appointment on board, a park release said.
The Park Service was notified 7:30 Friday evening after a ship-wide search confirmed that the passenger was absent.
Searches for the unidentified passenger were conducted both from Park Service boats and from the air, supported by the U.S. Coast Guard.
The release did not say where along the 65-mile Glacier Bay the man was reported missing, and park staff could not immediately be reached Sunday morning.

Thank you Roz. Does that also imply that there are few cabins left ? This is just in early stage for us and I wonder if we need to act or miss the boat - literally :D
No it does not mean that. We just did one of these in May. They wait til about a week to 10 days before sailing to assign your cabin. They wait until all the logistics of cabin assignments are done for those taking the longer cruise.

I was on the NA earlier this month and the "library" is now only travel books that you can read in that area but not check out. I did find a random paperback among them and was delighted until I realized it was in German LOL.

Which cruises apply? I got an email earlier this week, but don't see the deal advertised.

I'm bummed! I did not get that.
Jim
It is on their web site so you can take advantage if you choose.

We did the reverse (land tour first) but my understanding is that in either direction you make the same lunch stop at a buffet in Wasilla. Next door there is a convenience store that has a large and varied selection of wine.
-
Just double checked the fax log. I faxed last week to 206-281-0627 (number I have used for years) and as I said it was confirmed within minutes.

There is no form. Just fax your booking number and the proof of stock ownership to the World Cruise Dept. at 206-281-0627. I always ask for an email confirmation. Last week I faxed and it was confirmed within 10 minutes.

We fly into Anchorage then train to Denali, motorcoach to Seward and board there. Don't want to carry all over so would like to buy in Seward. Thanks for the Gateway tip
When the motor coach stops in Wasilla for lunch there is a convenience store next door that has a very good wine selection. That met our needs nicely.

We did this last July with a noon flight and it was tight. We were first group off and claimed our bags right away at the port and had no wait for a cab. Delay began at the airport where check in / security lines were long and we had little time to spare. Our air had been booked by HAL but it was a hectic morning.

There is a Safeway grocery fairly close to the port in Seward. I had planned to buy wine there however when we stopped at Settler’s Bay for lunch is Wasilla, there was a convenience store next door with a large wine selection so I shopped there instead.
-
Thanks for that info. It is very helpful. Any chance you know the name of the Wasilla restaurant? I might arrange to meet someone there if possible. Cheers.:)
Our lunch stop was at Settlers Bay Lodge with a sandwich/salad buffet. Food was good. I found several of the rest stop facilities along the bus route to be fairly rustic and later in the day downright dirty so I would recommend drinking little water.

It's there now! Good detective work.

PG is the only specialty restaurant that is open for lunch and it is not open every day.

This month on the K'dam we really enjoyed the "Frozen Earth" night in The World Stage. It teamed the BBC documentary on the multi screens with the score performed live by the classical musicians.

I highly recommend downloading the Mobile Passport app. It's pretty new but I read about it here and we used it coming into DC from Amsterdam on Sunday. Although there were long lines for folks with paper forms, there was no line for us with the paperless Mobile Passport app.
-
Thanks so much for your review! We board her in Amsterdam next Sunday and can't wait!

Sailed from Seattle several times and agree with others that it is rare to have hotel shuttle to port or airport. I too have used "Already There" for car service several times and was pleased!
-
5 time Alaska cruiser here. I too would pick the Nieuw Amsterdam. The inside passage route will give you a calmer first night than leaving from Seattle. That ship also lets you experience Tamarind, my favorite dining option.

Sorry about posting this twice. My computer was acting strange, and I didn't realize the first posting went through. Feel free to delete either one.
I'm thinking about purchasing the Signature Beverage package, but I have a couple of questions. I understand that it is a 15-drink limit per day. Does that include a combination of soda/alcoholic beverages, or is it 15 alcoholic beverages each day? Also, I believe the package includes drinks up to $8.50. What if I order a drink that cost more than that. Am I charged for the entire drink, or just the price difference?
Thanks.
Yes, the package covers any beverage $8.50 of less except those from the in room mini fridge, room service, Half Moon Cay and often bottles of water for purchase as you leave the ship at ports. If you choose something over the $8.50 limit your account is charged for the entire amount not just the difference.

Need Roll Call Help
in Holland America Line
Posted
Did you mean May 17, 2019? I see you have already set up 2 roll calls for that cruise. If so, you need to ask that they delete one. If it's really March 17, then set it up the same way just with the correct date then ask for the incorrect ones to be deleted.
