euro cruiser... thank you so much!! I was hoping you would see my post 🙂  It doesn't sound that complicated but it still kind of scary..lol  Just a couple more questions if you don't mind.. If we miss the 9:16 Frecce direct train how soon can we catch the next one? also what do you suggest is the best way to handle touring Rome? we just want see the famous sites... do we take a taxi from the train station and work our way from stop to stop? any other info you think might be helpful would be appreciated...  thanks again

Regarding tour in Rome , its really depends how hot it is outside and how long you want to walk , I can tell you that two month ago we took the train to Termini  from there we walked to the famous fountain passing by some churches , it took us 18 minutes walking , from there we went about 5 minutes to the Spanish stairs and to the Pantheon , its another 15  to 20 minutes to the Vatican city. other option will be to take the underground and walk from there (it will save you 15 minutes walking). You can always try to book a car for half day , but you will spend some time on traffic , also the car can not enter everywhere.

Hi.  I am at the beginning stages of bronchitis, not due to cold or flu.  I suffer once or twice a year from this and most likely caused by allergies.  I don't get a fever or chills, just a really bad barking cough that gets worse before it gets better.  Normally I don't go to the doctors until it hits a certain point and don't want to go due to obvious concerns.

Now, my question is, what are the chances of not being able board the ship while barking like seal/walrus and no fever.?  And if they deny the boarding would my family and I most likely be refunded our cruise fair instead of FCC?

Thank for all advice and opinions

Beside taken the temperature they also check your % oxygen in  the blood , if you have less than some % (I guess less than 95-96) they will deny your boarding . If you want you can buy Oximeter to check it yourself available in pharmacies and Walmart)

I asked this question in Italy port board but was told to ask here. Has anyone done the pizza making in Sorrento

    Thank you

We have done it two years ago and it was quite fun , first we traveled to Sorrento on the way we stopped for 15 minutes to take some pictures of the amazing view . You  stop at Sorrento were you have free time to roam the town , next you are being brought to a pizza restaurant were they explain you about the pizza process , you get a dough ball which you open into your pizza (each person get to do one pizza) you add the sauce, cheese and whatever topping you want  , they take it from you and put it in the oven. while you wait for your pizza to be cooked you get a salad , a drink and maybe something else which I do not remember . You get your pizza and eat it . good experience for families.

On the way to Sorrento :

My Pizza (yes , there were much nicer pizzas 🙂  but it was way better than the one you get on the ship)

  4. During Oasis cruise (9-June) they have asked for the card when ordered the first drink , IT was done everyday , sometime they asked for two cards , sometime they took only one card. They only took it with the first drink order . The explanation was to track inventory, I guess its also another way to check if people allowed in the DC or not. I do not think they had any limit for number of drinks.

Onboard Quantum currently. Checked, cruise crew are familiar with the Key program. They advised that it is not YET available for Asian cruises, but they are hopeful the program will be expanded to include their region.

    1.   Can anyone guide me as to whether purchasing an onboard Unbooked Cruise Offer is worth the pay the deposit now when you might not have vacation time available for another 1.5 to 2 years (already booked other cruises for upcoming vacations)? We would have to pay $250 pp deposit while onboard current sailing, book any future cruise within 1 year from now, and in exchange, we will receive $200 OBC now, and 10% addition on that future cruise that gets booked within that 1 year time frame, even if the selected cruise is 2+ years out from now.

    2.   Also, what is the likelihood that we could negotiate a higher OBC in connection with this offer? Not sure if it is common to renegotiate terms of onboard offers.

    First , Have a wonderful cruise .

Which kind of restaurants are already opened ? , in my planner I can see only Jamie and Chops

Has anyone following this great Quantum of the Seas review, had the Royal Up offer for any sailings? Or has the ‘Key’ appeared in your Cruise Planner? Many thanks.

My Spectrum of seas is still too far to get the upgrade offer but I saw the key in the past  few time but never was successful to book it (got error message every time I tried) , Now its gone. Not sure they have the key program at all for this market.

May the force be with you.

Thanks , it will be a nice experience , was many time in Singapore and love the food over there (including eating many times in China town food boots)  so I think we should be OK with the food. We also went to a cruise from Hong Kong to Singapore ,  I believe when one comes with open mind to other cultures it can be enjoyable experience. Who knows , maybe the first thing I will do after this cruise is to book another one out from China.

oh yes, public transit to/from and in Tokyo was stressful with very few signs.  Singapore was so much easier to use.

Oh , love the public transport in Singapore , fast clean , very easy to navigate, signs are very clear and the prepaid card is so easy to use.

I believe they did, yes.  However, I know there were very few English language shore excursions offered.  So you may find your choices to be fairly limited.

Thanks , yes they offer three in Osaka , 2 in Kobe and two in Tokyo,   We took (Were  they were on sale) one in Osaka and one in Tokyo , I have been to Tokyo once on a business trip and I remember how it was not easy to use the public transformation , mainly due to lack of signs.

We are sailing during what later I knew to be one of the main vacation times in China (the golden week) so I expect full cruise and almost 100% Chinese , its going to be interesting

We'd been able to arrange to meet her and leave at 2:30 pm instead.  You have status (Diamond or above in this case) or book a suite or the gold program USE THIS.

First , thank you for sharing it is very helpful and interesting to read , we are planning to do the same route on Spectrum around October (we will be few days in the city , take the cruise and fly to Hong Kong). regarding the first Japanese port , did people who booked shore excursions got to go to earlier ? I thought to avoid the lines to take one from the ship.

Again thank you for all the information.

  11. We signed up for this and was wondering if anyone has done it. We are in port from 7-7.

I believe it is about 1.5 hours each way so I am guessing you have about 5 hours free time in Rome. Any tips or advice?

Sent from my iPhone using Forums

I have done it last April .

Yes it is around 1 - 1.5 drive (depends on the traffic) , on the way in or out they will take you to a short ride in Rome to see some of the sites from the bus.

You will park near St Paul at the Vatican and you will have 5 hours to see Rome by yourself.

About 10 minutes walk from the drop area you can find a hop on hop off buss that can bring you to many of the site. you can buy the ticket from RC (they will offer it during the ride to Rome) or online. but most of the important sites are quite near to each other (Trevi fountain , Spanish steps are very close to each other , the Pantheon is 15 minutes walk and the Colosseum is 15 -20 minutes) so you can take just the bus and save money. we took the HOHO bus but used it only in the way in and in the way out to go back to the Vatican.

  12. Things have become more restricted in the past year or so. I was able to use a VPN during our Nov 2016 transatlantic on Brilliance, but the same VPN was blocked on our Nov 2017 transatlantic on Jewel.

    Agree ,

At work we have two types of connectivity , one is based on SSL and one on IPSEC ,

Until 2017 both worked well , but from 2017 only the IPSEC is working,

It worked perfectly during my cruise during last month (August),

Next week I will be on another cruise , I can try it again .

  13. I'm a network engineer and in an emergency may be asked to work remotely while on-board Anthem of the Seas on the November 25, 2018 sailing. I signed up for the 11 day Voom + streaming package.

    Can I RDP into a client's network?

Are the speeds bearable? Are there any connectivity restrictions or blocked protocols that I should be aware of?

    TIA!

I always connect to work VPN while I am in RC cruise ,

SSL connection not working for me , but Cisco IPSEC works very well and I able to use remote connections once I am connected. yes it slow but for emergencies it fast enough ,

Worse case scenario, if it is not working, you can always use Skype for business , ask someone to connect you on the other side and give you remote control .

  14. Hi all,

We'll be going on our first cruise in April 2019, on Oasis of the Seas. From what I've read it seems that we will be given a Cruise Compass upon boarding, and if you want to reserve a seat at a show / event, you need to call/speak to guest services to register. Is this correct? I mean, the on board theatre has way fewer seats than the number of passengers on the ship, so I assume these are at a premium. This would mean making all reservations in one go, right at the start of the cruise? Is this correct, or do you need to do this prior to travelling?

    Thanks in advance

On Oasis class ship you can book a show (not a seat but time) so the best will be to book it ahead of time so it will be per your other plans.

To book a show you just need to go tot he cruise planner after you log on to the RC site.

Usually show and other events are becoming available to book between 120 to 60 days , so you want to check from time to time and see if they are available ,

You can not reserve seat but you can come 30 minutes before the show start and find yourself a good seat.

    Enjoy your cruise

  15. I've read where people have brought playstations on board for the kids to play..My hubby has a older laptop that he uses for his "Panzer general" etc war games. Is there anything we need to do to bring that on board? is it allowed? do we put it in check in baggage or carry on? He most probably will be entertaining himself with it when I entertain myself with a hot tub or massage :D

No issue to bring laptop on board , I am bringing mine every time (sometime need to do some work)

I will always put it with my carry on
