  1. Well maybe??--just went to carnival's site and it was posted on April 7th that Triumph was going to be doing 11 day cruises to SanJuan out of Galveston starting the end of Oct 2015 and into first part of Jan 2016--now I don't know if that's what they are talking about or not--says nothing about the Magic though but maybe the Magic will be taking on Triumphs normal itinerary during those cruises?? or this maybe something entirely different??

  2. Woke up to use the rest room a few minutes ago (TMI, I know) and decided to check my email. Noticed an email from Carnival with only an attachment labeled "important information". Anytime I have ever gotten one of these it's always been less than stellar news. This time it's great news, for me at least. Apparently Magic is taking over 5 day cruises for the Triumph in 2015 so Triumph can take on new itineraries. I hope it's staying in Galveston. Anyway, we are now on the Magic, which rocks! On top of that, they are turning our 5 day into a 6 day, with a stop in Costa Maya. I'll take it! I'm going to attempt to attach picture of the letter.

We're booked on Magic for 7 day cruise in Aug 2015 I certainly hope this doesn't affect us!!

  3. Now I'm Magic crazy ha! we will be sailing on her next Aug 2015! we'll be celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary and can't wait! although we will be doing a different itinerary than you. Cozumel, Jamaica and Grandcaymon not nec in that order. Sounds like you had a blast! Thanks so much for posting your report!

  4. Where do you plan on cruising? I renewed my passport a couple of years ago and got both the passport and the passport card. The card is cheaper if the cost is a factor and it can be used as ID for a cruise depending on where you're going. I know it can be used for Caribbean cruises because I use it all the time. If you plan on going to Europe the standard passport is likely needed. Just a suggestion. The card costs $40.:)

Will the cards work for Caribbean?? We're going on Magic out of Galveston on the western itinerary that goes to Cozumel, Jamaica and Grand caymon and if you have a valid book(doesn't expire til march ) can you just renew for the card only?? That would be a whole lot more convenient than the book anyway I thought you had to get the book and the card or just the book??

  5. I know this question has probably been asked hundreds of times before but do we really need to renew our passports?? ours will expire in March of 2015 we will be taking our cruise in Aug of 2015. I know previously (years ago) that they'd accept expired passports on cruises but now it's saying not. FYI we are US citizens. (born and raised USA) The reason I asked was because we got them for our 2005 cruise and have never used them except 1 time since the following year on another cruise. we haven't cruised or gone anywhere out of the country since 2006.

  6. We used it last year on our first CCL cruise and it was great. I will definitely try to purchase it again for 2016 if it's offered. The only thing I didn't like is that even though DH and I dropped our luggage at the same porter and they were both clearly marked as FTTF he got his luggage right away and mine didn't arrive until after sail away.

From what I understand and please correct me if I'm wrong because I just booked it too. Everyone in the same cabin will get FTTF with the same benefits but only 1 person has to purchase it. You should have had your luggage too and the FTTF tags.

  7. That's exactly why I booked a porthole! same price as an interior but looked bigger than the other interiors and had a sofa! We booked a balcony on our first cruise and would have loved to have done the same but the balconies and even oceanviews were so much more expensive on the cruise that we're going to take. hopefully before I get the cruise paid off the rates will go down and i'll be able to afford an upgrade?? but right now as it sits we've got a porthole! why?? because the room looked bigger!!

  8. We felt little if anything!! Our room was on lido deck I think around mid section I think the only time we felt anything was coming home we were punching it I think a little to get out of the path of Katrina. ( Katrina hit about a week after we got home). We're booked on magic 2220 this time out of Galveston forward 2nd level. I hope we don't feel too much. We felt more after we got off the ship

  9. We keep our strips with our machines, however from what i'm gathering there is only 1 outlet by the vanity right? none by the beds?? how long of extension cord should we bring and where can we pack it. was planning on putting it in the duffle bag with our shoes and misc checked luggage. now that i'm reading this i'm a bit afraid don't want it confiscated.

  10. What is the earliest time that the carnival transport will pick you up from the airport on cruise day?? We're going to be flying in a couple of days before but return our rental car back to the airport either cruise morning or the day before. we'll be able to get from our hotel to airport via the airport shuttle, however we need to get from the airport to the cruise terminal. After pricing things out I think we'll be better off taking the carnival shuttle to the port it's only about $35 each way, as opposed to the other shuttle options and taxi etc. (we're only a party of 2) I know the shuttles will be busy taking people from cruise terminal back to airport but when do they shuttle from airport to cruise terminal?? (Hobby to Galveston)

  11. Glad you enjoyed the pictures. Magic is a wonderful ship. I imagine we may be back on her in August 2015 as well as we'll be taking our kids again then. We aren't booked yet though.

seeing the review and pics that I didn't realize you'd lost your father. I'm so sorry--it's tough to loose a parent. my prayers are with your family. We are going on Magic Aug 9th BTW--maybe we'll see you if you decide on that cruise?? Happy cruising in sept??

  12. on Magic for Aug 2015! I hope I will be happy about it. The room configuration showed the beds actually made into a king! and looked bigger than the other interior rooms. I sure hope so. Supposedly our room also has a couch and table which I really like. All the other interior rooms did not and only had a chair and desk. I like having a little extra room AND the sofa to sit on makes it nice to have a place to sit without it being the bed!

  13. How would 2220 fair out I think it's port side and a port hole it's actually considered an inside room but it's got port holes. How would the noise level be?? ( on magic) couldn't afford a balcony this time or an ocean view so we booked this instead I like the configuration of this compared to the other inside rooms because it has a sofa and table

  14. We rented car at airport called them direct asked about and arranged returning car to Galveston come boarding day we dropped luggage at port called taxi to meet at rental agency returned car making sure gas appropriate level took pic of gas gauge and mileage put key through key slot and got into cab and went for cruise... Other option inn at the water park good room rates free parking while on cruise hope you have a fabulous cruise

That's a good idea who did you rent your car from?? Did they have a place in Galveston to return car or did u have to take it to Texas city?? There are some pretty good rates I found thru my husbands ASCE or the other civil eng organization but it's thru company's that the closest place to return is Texas city and I think the cab fare is about $50?? From there?? Still may be less expensive to rent the car out of hobby for 2 days return it back when we get back from Johnson on sat then take carnival trans out to cruise terminal unless enterprise is still in Galveston still can't get a rate to pop says no availability when I try to rent out of hobby and return to Galveston. TA is going to be working on that later thus year or early next

  15. I really don't like to do laundry either on a cruise or vacation, however when you're flying, it's hard to pack enough stuff to get thru 10 days + and not have to pay a fortune for luggage. We're (I think) going to fly SW because of their free luggage however--and with our cpaps and other carryon's and my oxygen concentrator we're going to have enough stuff to pack around ha! If I can do a load of laundry I can pack lighter. (of course I still pack too much stuff ha!)
