  1. Was also on the Bermuda cruise. Never found out just where they were working, though. We only smelled paint one evening as we were going to dinner on Deck 4. We were on Deck 7 with balcony, and believe me, there was no work being done on that deck. The ship is definitely in need of updating, but it still was a great cruise, had a lovely time! Food was delicious and had the best wait staff we ever had in 16 cruises. We even still had real tablecloths on the tables, so guess that's the advantage of not being "upgraded" yet. Did still have a tube tv, and a nice pink bathroom. Had an excellent cabin steward who was most helpful and very visible the whole trip. Hope you'll enjoy your cruise as much as we all did. It was nice to be in port for three days.

  2. Same here, I never have gotten a call, only get emails after I've booked a cruise, yet my friends and family members get them all the time. I've called Tech Support about it, they've sent test emails, rechecked my profile, etc., yet I still don't get anything of a promotional nature, nor do I receive phone calls. Would be nice to get something once in a while, even snail mail.

  3. The Elation will be arriving in Jacksonville this Saturday morning. Just had photo of Fascination leaving Jacksonville Monday (4/18) on our local news in Jacksonville. Will be nice to have a new (to Jacksonville) ship, Fascination has been here for a while.

  4. If you are a member of Triple A, you can also get good travel insurance. I recently purchased ours for a Bermuda trip in May. Carnival's cost was $129 per person, and AAA's was $148 TOTAL for better coverage. I think it was right before my final payment was due.

  5. I Googled Casinos in Bermuda a few months ago and yes, they did recently have an agreement to let the ship's casino open at 9:00 pm the days they are in port. Their reasoning was that most people are not going to be out and about in port after 9:00 pm.

  6. Being a native Jacksonvillian, I'm happy to see that Carnival chose our town to make this announcement, and good news it is. I suppose they chose Jacksonville (besides the fact Carry Underwood is kicking off the tour here), is because we have such a huge military presence. The sad thing about it is that because of the timing of the announcement, they said there was not enough time to honor a local military family. I'm sure if they'd called NAS Jacksonville or Mayport Station, they would have been able to give them a number of families to choose from in record time! Also sorry they didn't choose to make the announcement from the JaxPort Terminal, maybe then they'd realize we really do need a new one and work harder to make that happen here with the local polititions and the Town of Mayport. Until the terminal can be moved to the east side of the Dames Point Bridge, we'll never have larger ships.

  7. You definitely should give them a call! I usually call once a year and get a reduction every time. My current rate is 9.9%. Also, in addition to the usual 1 or 2 points per dollar, if you go thru the rewards website and use the vendors listed there, you can get extra points on your purchases as well.

  8. The points on my Carnival Sea Miles card are good for 5 years. I don't know if they actually send you a letter that you have points expiring or not. I have asked the question of them before and the person I talked to at that time said they didn't know! If you haven't done so already, I would give them a call, sure don't want to lose any points you have accumulated! Of course, you can always apply what you have to any of your past Carnival charges, such as your deposit, sail and sign, etc. up to 180 days. Maybe that's what the letter meant. Definitely give them a call!

  9. You have to go to Verizon.com, log in/create account. Once you're in My Verizon.com, they have a Verizon Rewards page. That's where you find the gift cards. I don't know for sure, but I'm assuming you have to be a Verizon customer to be able to create an account. As other posters have said, they are currently sold out. It seems to me they put them up at the first of the month, maybe more. I got mine in about a week after I ordered August 3rd.

  10. I'm just amazed at all of you who get calls and emails all the time from Carnival. I am a VIFP Platinum, have dealt most of the time except for the early days with the same PVP and absolutely have no problem with her. She calls sometimes for a Bon Voyage call, but other than that, she doesn't call me. We have an excellent relationship, when I do call it's always fun to chat, I let her know who all in my normal group are planning to go and she'll hold the rooms together so everyone can be close by, makes sure we get linked for dinner and any other things we need. Now to the on line part. I know I'm crazy, but I look on line every day to see if there are any great deals I can't refuse, or if the price of my booked cruise may have changed. I have NEVER been contacted by anyone from Carnival as a result of that. I have very seldom received any emails from them other than cabin confirmations. I have actually contacted Customer Service several times about why I DON'T get emails when I know others in my group do, and they can't figure it out. I know with other cruise lines, the minute I look at something, some travel agent calls practically before I get off the computer, and I'm bombarded with daily emails, so don't know why i don't get any from Carnival. The last cruise my group went on, one of the ladies used her Travel Agency, and it was a major ordeal to be able to get her linked up with our group because my PVP couldn't talk to her, only the TA, but we finally got it done. Unless something drastically changes, I'll stick with my PVP!

  11. You must provide a doctor's certification as to your disability. I for one am glad to see these changes. My brother is in a chair with limited mobility and they have to provide proof each time they book. We booked the Bermuda cruise out of Port Canaveral in May 2016 and invited them to go with us, but they said they are done with Carnival because of the limited amount of rooms and always having to be in the very front of the ship so were going to try other lines until Carnival did something about it. Maybe this will help us be able to "family cruise" again.

  12. As of April, they still had water taxi. We usually just get a cab and go over to Atlantis to the Casino. If you've never been to Atlantis, they give tours of the property, a little pricey, but its nice to see at least one time. First time we went it was under construction so didn't cost anything. Next time it was finished so took the tour. No need to do it again, but they do have a nice casino!

  13. I'm getting ready to book the Carnival Bermuda Cruise from Port Canaveral in May 2016. Hubby wants to know which side of the ship will be against the dock and no one seems to know. Would make a difference as to which side of the ship I book my balcony room. Any comments would be appreciated.
