  1. "From the flight, no doubt". Or the gift shop attendant at the airport, or the baggage handlers at the airport, or the baggage handlers at the pier, or the barista at the coffee shop, etc. Barbados has reported 5 new cases yesterday which is 5 times as many as a few days prior, all from visitors to the island.
  2. The R naught (rate of infection) for H1N1 is similar to COVID so it was NOT more contagious. Though, admittedly, it's difficult to nail down R naught while in the middle of a pandemic. And, of course, the rate of death from COVID is much higher. What's different about the pandemic of 2008-2009 v.s. this one is the lack of social media then spreading rhetoric and misinformation. There were school closures then and repeated pleas to wear masks and practice good hygiene - we just don't remember.
  3. It may have been brought onboard by a passenger, not a crew member.
  4. Uh, no. Here's a great graphic site to follow: https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/country/us/
  5. Eleven passport offices were opened this week. There is a 1 million passport backlog to work through. https://federalnewsnetwork.com/workforce/2020/06/state-dept-reopens-11-passport-services-sites-confronts-million-case-backlog/?fbclid=IwAR11qPVXXP9vXrzCTscDNcouM6A5RPb0ixvhSJ-PkVv4hPDJcUYSGaiozAg

  7. Based on health experts, MOST folks who contract this are not seriously ill and recover. Why not let them self isolate on the ship for the quarantine period of 14 days or so. If some do become seriously ill, then I'd expect them to be removed for treatment. As to crew members getting it from each other, I think that horse has long ago left the barn.
  8. Justalone - here's a constantly updated global map with numbers. 9 deaths in the US not 18. https://www.arcgis.com/apps/opsdashboard/index.html#/bda7594740fd40299423467b48e9ecf6
  9. Maybe it's a poor translation, but the headline doesn't match the story. The story says "The tests were sent to laboratories in Chetumal and the results will be ready tonight, said the official, who stressed that they have adhered to what the international and national protocols mandate for the case." The key word is WILL. Sounds like results aren't in yet.
  10. Anthem of the Seas was to leave from Bayonne yesterday at 4 but stayed anchored somewhere nearby until early this AM due to the nasty storm stalled in the northeast. She's underway now.
  11. Looks like OP is on a 14 day closed loop from FLL but one of the ports is Martinique. Martinique very recently announced that passports are required for all cruise pax regardless of the closed loop cruise WHTI exception, so I suspect this was the catalyst for the email OP received.
