If you call back, ask them to look in your booking remarks to see who the last person that serviced your booking was. Emile might be a "phone name" and therefore not their real name, but they can still tell who did what. If you tell them the day and time you called, they can see who it was. At that point ask to speak to a supervisor and tell them about the great service you had. Hope this helps. :)

  2. Tourist dollars are just as important as relief efforts. Take your cruise and spend your money there to provide their income, and donate a little extra on top of that to help out fellow Americans, because Puerto Ricans are Americans and it's our patriotic duty to help them with our tourism, volunteering, and donations to relief efforts. Every little bit helps.

  3. Call me a snob if you like; I enjoy mini-suites for the larger balcony, large shower, and a little more space in the cabin. If I decide to use the pool, I get annoyed when there's 10 people in the pool and almost every lounge chair has a towel on it. It's annoying that cruise lines will not enforce their own rules and remove the towels. It's because the walk-in closet class feels they're entitled to an unlimited reservation for lounge chairs. They're also the first ones to complain when they can't get something for nothing. If you're going cheap, you should expect that level of amenities. If I want something I'm willing to pay a fair price for it. Not buying travel insurance is either stupid or cheap; take your choice.

  4. Get real people!!!!! People's lives and property will be affected adversely by this massive storm. There are more important things than having your cruise cut short! My suggestion would be to channel your energy towards prayers for those who live in the path of destruction.

Well said. People get so wrapped up in the wrong things because of their sense of entitlement. My best friend is right in the path of Irma and I'm terrified for him.

  5. The way I see it, people seem to only care about themselves. They don't care about what other people think. They paid their money and by gawd, they are going to wear whatever they please and to hell with anyone sitting near them in the MDR. No manners, no morals.....pretty sad situation. It's a dining room, why can't people accept that and put on long pants or a not too short dress?

Shorts in the MDR are totally indicative of psychopaths that didn't go to finishing school.

  6. Before I retired, I worked for a major utility company in NY as a manager in a business office. I mostly dealt with irate, obnoxious customers. If someone yelled or swore etc at one of my employees, I would end up speaking with the person.

If the customer swore at me or used offensive language, I'd give him/her a warning and say that one more comment like that, I would hang up. If the customer screamed at me, I just spoke more and more quietly. Eventually, most got the message. There is no reason to yell at any employee anywhere.

I also wanted to comment on the "entitled." I was on Allure of the Seas last month. I tried to make reservations for a show and wasn't able to so I decided to see if the Diamond Concierge could do so for me (us.) I hadn't gone into the lounge previously as I had family with me that were on their first cruise with Royal Caribbean. I walked in and stood off to the side as there was a couple talking to the Concierge. I could hear them talking and it was all personal things, number of cruises, ships they liked etc. I was standing off to the side and there were no other people in the lounge.

After about ten minutes of trying to get away from the couple, the Concierge asked me if I needed help. I said yes and she said to them that it was nice chatting, see them later, but she had to help me. I asked my question and she wasn't able to get me the reservations, but I wasn't sure that she could as the show was filled on my TV.

She asked me why I hadn't been in the lounge as I was able to do so. I told her that I had my son, daughter-in-law and granddaughter who had never sailed on Royal so they didn't qualify to be in there. She told me to bring them in one night and that it would be fine with her. I was impressed with her kindness and I didn't feel entitled at all.

Additionally, Grapau27, (sp) I am sailing again on Allure in January, so if you are sailing then, I would love some of your chocolate. European chocolate is far better than what we have in the US.

    Thanks for reading.

You sound like you were a good manager. It's nice when someone stands up for their employees.

  7. I just called C&A because I booked directly through them and I got a guy who barely spoke English. I was trying to take advantage of a price drop and the guy just wasn't understanding me. Has anyone else had this problem?

Don't get me wrong, I know it's not the guy's fault...but can't Royal offer some kind of class for learning English?
