  1. This is why I'm thinking of going with the replenish package.

I'll have CL access but cannot stand powdered cappuccino yuck! I also hate fake cream. Do they at least have real milk/cream for the specialty coffees at cafe promenade? Can you get specialty coffee with replenish in the MDR?

We'll be on Adventure if that makes a difference.

  2. I would not recommend St. Martin for your first OW dives. It can be a bit rough with currents and lower viz.

St. Thomas offers some really nice shallow easy dives. I've heard good things about Coki beach but haven't used them. I've had great experiences with Blue Island Divers in St. Thomas. The boat comes right to the dock around the corner from the ships and they only take about 6 divers max.

Dive St. Kitts is great. They meet you at the port with a sign and take you to the resort. It was in pretty bad shape with construction when I dove them last year. Don't let that scare you lol the dive op is really thorough and good. After the dive you can take a dip in the pool and enjoy a rum punch while you wait for the ride back to the port.

  3. I'll be going on the Adventure of the Seas in a couple of months. We got My Time Dining as we don't care about having the same servers each night or the whole traditional seating time.

There will be two of us and we have zero interest in sharing a table with other diners. If we don't reserve ahead of time (which kind of defeats the purpose to me) how long do you typically wait for a table for two?

    Thanks!

  4. Because I've been there with someone trying to take 1/3 of the seat that I paid for. I think it's obscene that airlines allow it. I think it's obscene that someone is so self-entitled that they think it's OK to disrupt another persons travel plans because they are to selfish to plan ahead, even when they KNOW they will need a second seat or cause great discomfort to someone else.

I keep asking the question that no one seems to want to or be able to answer. "What makes someone feel so special that it is acceptable to disrupt the travel plans of others because they know they need an extra seat but don't book it in advance?"

I personally think everybody is just trying to get by the pain that has become commercial air travel.

This thread is mostly discussing people who will get an extra seat, albeit maybe at the gate so it has nothing to do with anybody encroaching on your space.

I've had to sit next to a few plumper people and for the most part, I think they were far more uncomfortable than I was. They always seemed to be contorting themselves to be as small as they could. Maybe some folks don't have the money for an extra seat.

Do you also think it's obscene that the airlines allow taller men with broad shoulders to only purchase one seat? In my experience they seem far more entitled to extra space. I've had to share my seat with shoulders and legs because some guy thinks his manly bits need three sq. ft. of space. Are they also obscenely self-entitled for not buying an extra seat?

You've been very vocal about how you're a special 1% flier and have bumped other people so you could fly. I imagine because you're so special that you wouldn't have to worry about somebody getting an extra seat affecting you.

As for delaying the flight? As somebody that has traveled as much as you say, you should know better than anybody that delays can happen at anytime for any reason. Frankly, you just seem to being showing some hate for anybody who doesn't fit into your ideals (you have a lot to say about children and on the disability threads).

  5. For what it's worth just about every flight I've been on with Southwest has been oversold. Just about every flight I observed a COS having purchased a second seat being approached by a Southwest gate agent asking if they would relinquish the seat for a full refund so that a standby passenger could get on the flight. The Southwest gate agent could clearly see the that the individual was a COS and still asked that the seat be relinquished. 99% the COS relinquished the seat for the refund. In the end Southwest doesn't even abide by it's own policy regarding COS.

I saw this happen once. I had no skin in the game as it wasn't anybody I knew but I've never wanted to punch anybody so bad in my life.

The COS relinquished her seat as the flight attendant explained there was a very distraught woman who needed to get home.

The woman gets on the plane and then proceeds to complain about the COS taking up too much space and had the audacity to ask her to be moved! The poor woman was about to cry and got dirty looks the entire flight and the woman continued to jab little comments.

Under any other circumstances, I'd have let my mouth fly but I'm a bit squeamish in the air as you just don't have the same rights as on the ground. I couldn't chance being considered a flight risk.

That horrid creature is lucky I never saw her after we got off the plane, I was livid!!!

  6. The last one to check in would be the second seat requested at the gate. Think about it.

Actually, no. Assuming the COS checked in online then they are simply getting the accommodation they need for the flight at the airport. The second seat isn't some phantom passenger that needs to check-in on its own.

Do you work for Southwest? Have you used or travelled with somebody that has used this policy?

You may not like their policy and that is certainly your right. You can also choose not to fly Southwest. But arguing that black is white seems silly.

  7. Sure they will. They will not IDB someone due to the lack of preplanning by another customer. Wh should your refusal to make the needed accommodation disrupt someone else's travels? What makes you so special?

Actually Southwest's policy is that if a COS requires an additional seat at the airport then they will be accommodated. In the case of a full flight, if there are no volunteers then the last to check-in will be reassigned another flight.

They would obviously prefer that you book an extra seat in advance so that they can appropriately determine passengers for the flight.

  8. I've stayed at Atlantis in early November. There was a section (lazy rivers a a pool or two) closed for repairs/cleaning as it was considered the off-season. I don't know if they do this every year.

The main section of the Aquaventure park was open.

Never been to Nassau via cruise so I can't speak for that part.

  9. I like waiting until the cabins are open. I usually carry-on my main diving equipment which can be heavy and annoying to lug around in crowded public spaces.

I'd love to check it but it's not worth the chance of it getting lost as 1) that would be annoying for vacation and 2) super expensive

I also strongly dislike buffets so I prefer to have a nice meal before boarding so I can just wait until dinner.

  10. Do they make the pizza dough fresh?

Definitely not as the dough already comes with sauce. I found the sauce to have a very sweet and slightly off taste.

When we asked if they could prepare a pizza without sauce we were told that the dough already comes with sauce.

I personally think the pizza is something out of a school cafeteria and basically inedible.

  11. You may be able to find a dive shop that will do a refresher course, but you'll likely pay more. If you book through the cruise, you'll have to have had a dive within 1-2 years.

I was on an excursion (not through the cruise line actually) and they wouldn't let one of the women dive as it had been three years.

If you have local dive shop and a place to take a refresher/check out dive before you leave home, I'd go that route. You have plenty of time between now and then and it will open up your options for you vacation without stress!

  12. It is hilarious and we always suggest folks go if they have never been. If you are offended by adult humor though it might not be for you. It is for folks 18 and over. We have only ever see one person leave because they were offended...but you never know.

Is it a couples thing? This cruise is a mother/daughter cruise. My mom and I both have a good sense of humor, but wouldn't want it to be overly couples type stuff and be awkward lol.

  13. Pretty much all in the title ;) I'm trying to find out which shops they use at these two places so I can decide which route to go for my excursion.

I know the ships want to sell their excursions, but I really hate that they won't tell you which ops they use. All dive operators are not created equal and I like to check out reviews and talk to the shops about their safety standards and boats before I book.

    TIA for any help!

  14. Another vote for Stuart Cove! They are a fantastic shop. Definitely one of the top vacation ops I used. Very professional. If you have the timing to do the shark dive, I highly recommend it! It was pretty awesome to be surrounded like that. Just keep your arms inside your body ;)

  15. Hello! We will be doing a Southern Caribbean on the adventure coming up in a few months!

Does anybody have any recommendations for resorts that offer day passes?

Somewhere a little more upscale than the beaches offered through the excursions?

Has anybody been to TiKaye Resort in St. Lucia? I heard good things about their dive op and if the resort is nice that may be great as my mom could enjoy the resort and I could enjoy a dive!

    Thanks!

  16. Hi. Long time lurker, first time poster!

I will be doing a Southern Caribbean cruise on the Adventure of the Seas. Has anybody done any dive excursions with Dive ops not through RCCL?

there are RCCL excursions at the first two stops St. Thomas and St. Croix

I am hoping to add one or two additional dives if possible!

    Thanks for any help.
