I can't say what is happening with the Indonesian fee but I did notice recently that the Vietnamese visa fees includes a US $25 "Stamping Fee".

Our Christmas cruise was the first time on Golden Princess it was announced over the tannoy system and also staff advised us its a fleet wide thing.

 

 

saves wear and tear on the lifejackets , and much better to hand then\m out at mustardstations as the coffee stains dont show so much .........

 

 

BTW question , how long do you imagine your life jacket will keep you alive in waters off the south island of New Zealand ???

Answer ..not long enough the cold water will get you before you drown.

 

 

and DONT ever jump into the water with a life jacket on , unless you know what you are doing it can break your neck

Sadly the life jackets were still required on the Sea Princess over the Christmas period . Maybe they will drop the requirement soon as well if it is going fleet wide.

 

Good to know we won't need them on the golden in March [emoji3]

Cheaper to purchase on board in Australia as it is $7AUD per day on board and various random conversions by Princess above $8AUD or even $9 if you pre pay

Must have been on a different cruise to us? We just got off the Sea Princess this morning and the number never got anywhere near 200. Captain included numbers each day in his daily noon brief, highest it ever got was 45. Report yesterday was at 21.

Yes . At least I think so .Its just done Syd/Ak and now doing Ak/Syd , but they usually turnaround on the same day.

Wonder which cruise got to have the overnight on board?:D

If it is anything like Brisbane the other week the booth was left unmanned with the forms and envelopes left on the desk with a lockbox. Fill out the form and put in the envelope with your original receipt the refund will be processed and receipt mailed back to you.

I guess whilst the ship may not sail until 10pm the cruise line more than likely doesn't want to pay for terminal staff for longer than they have too. Hence why the check in time is set for the standard 3 hour window. We have a similar issue with a cruise in Adelaide, ship arrives at 6am and departs at 10pm but check in is only between 1 and 4pm for passengers joining the cruise that day.

Maybe the answer you get for the end of 2017 is they have setup a committee to determine when they should make the decision [emoji3] Sounds about right for politicians to me.......

So Platonic, were you upgraded even though you specified 'no upgrade'? Didn't think that was supposed to happen...

 

When you ask to have your booking marked 'no upgrade' it is only listing your preference, while in almost all cases they meet your preference however they can still move your cabin assignments if required.

My guess is maybe it would be better to wait for the info to come form the horses mouth so to say? For some reason I find news from Facebook to be as reliable as clothesline gossip or tweets from Donald Trump. At present the Captain circle terms and conditions reflect no change, until they publish a change you would be right in taking they hadn't changed.

For us you are right, for the North Americans, $100 or less for an inside is not uncommon.:evilsmile:

 

Though that is $100 USD plus grats which isn't quite the same as a $100AUD for an inside here.

Wasn't the Grand the ship that was the talk of the town just recently with the new internet plan launch? I seem to recall plenty of comments on how good it was? So is it back to the old system again?

We found the price list changes depending on where the cruise goes. If you are headed to the South Pacific the prices are lower than if you do NZ, our guess is they try to closer match the competition in the region.

It’s still the case. You can’t take fruit from the mainland into Tasmania

My guess is possibly an arrangement with customs so the cruiselines don't have to process GST for domestic cruises?

Depends on your phone, will it allow you to use the gps without a mobile signal? If it does then you should be able to download maps for offline use. We use a handheld gps with the gpx files pre downloaded no mobile phone needed, mobiles are great when you are in coverage but mostly an amusement device outside of coverage.

 

There are a couple in Noumea that you should be able to get without a gps if you print out the cache details and hints.

When did they change it to a la carte? Last time we were on the Emerald it was fixed price only at $39. Very empty most of the time......
