If your credit card failed, than that is what it is.  It's not their job to figure out why, it is yours.

My card did not “fail.”  Royal failed to process the transaction correctly, apparently. If I was contacted by either them or my credit card company that there was a problem with my card, I would ask them to try again or to provide another card. But there is nothing I did wrong and no way I am aware of to fix it.

No you didn’t so you answered the question. You should have said my credit card wasn’t billed and they would have probably looked into it more.

If it’s not billed after you say that then I would agree but you are just trying to get something for free at this point…

I am not trying to get anything for free. I tried to get it at the advertised price, entered my credit card number, and pressed the button. Same thing I’ve done for all my purchases. I didn’t do anything wrong or misleading in any way. And I assume they’ll figure this out sometime and charge me. When they do, I’ll pay it.

Besides, as others have noted above, even telling them the charges didn’t go though hasn’t resulted in RC taking action because they say everything looks fine on their end. I am not responsible for  troubleshootting why their system dropped the charge or shows it as being paid.

A contract can say anything it wants with ten signatures. It means squat. There are so many illegal contracts and/or what I like to call "hopeful contracts" that are essentially documents spelling out what they hope to happen/prescribe. Enforcing a contract in court is another matter entirely.

It’s called a “choice of venue” clause and it would certainly be enforced. First, you generally have to sue a company in the state they do business and/or are headquartered in. Second, it makes no sense for Carnival to defend multiple cases in courts all over the county depending on where cruisers for that particular week’s cruise came from. And judges won’t want those cases either, multiple cases  with the same allegations  should all be heard together. That’s why “choice of venue” clauses are almost always upheld, and why those causes may become class actions as well. All of which cost $$ for a case which you would first need to prove a breach of contract and secondly prove damages - which can not consist of “I was really looking forward to Aruba but we went to St. Maartin instead.”

  4. Hi all,

We (me, wife, 2 kids (13+11) have cruised ~5 times on Royal but never Carnival.  We booked a 5-day Eastern Caribbean on the Horizon in December.  Does anyone who has sailed on both Iines have any suggestions/insight about any similarities, differences, or things you knew before trying Carnival?  We're looking forward to it but want to make sure any expectations are approrpriate and that anything we should think of in advance we do.

    Thanks!

  5. We did it abut a week and a half ago.  It was great.  My 11 year old did it and loved it, my 8 year old unfortunately couldn't make it down the ladder to the sea floor (he's always had problems with his ears popping on airplanes, etc.).  But the crew helps you stop every few steps down to equalize the pressure and they go over hand signals that let you communicate well with them.

Once at the bottom it was amazing, there were so many fish and they swam right around us.  We have a waterproof camera and took a ton of pictures, and they sell a USB drive that has both stock photos and photos of your group taken at various points by a diver who was at the bottom with us.  I think it was around $30 (cash) or $35 (credit card).

They give you shoes to wear, or any closed-toe water shoe is OK, I think.

  6. I'm sailing on Adventure OTS in April from Fort Lauderdale...... Departure is listed at 5:30 PM.  We're flying into FLL the night before so can be at the port anytime, and want to be on board as early as possible.... when does boarding begin?  What time do people suggest getting to the port?

    Thank you.

  8. I'm on a Royal Caribbean cruise next year that arrives back in Ft. Lauderdale at 5:30am (Adventure of the Seas, 8-day Eastern Caribbean).  We're booking flights ourselves and wanted to know what time disembarkation is and whether we could make a 10:15 flight leaving Ft. Lauderdale airport without rushing.  Thank you!

  9. I was on Anthem last week (March 24 sailing) and both Clo and Dennis were on board. They were both together at the opening night show but after that I only saw Dennis in person at the events in two70 and the royal theater (but I saw Clo on the stateroom TV leading some of the game shows and doing the morning TV show, so maybe it was just coincidence as to the events I went to).
