I always appreciate reading your "Lives". Hope you make it home by 3:47. I inowmits a lot of work but it's a great read for those of us stuck in cloudy cold places.

I guess that I'm going to start making my way out into San Juan soon. I've got my bag packed and my walking shoes on. I've got hopefully all the supplies I need to survive on dry land for the next several hours. I'm going to bring my real Verizon phone, but I'll probably just take in the sights for awhile before I continue. I've gotta try to get some real vacation time for myself in... Pictures incoming later.
By the way, I'm just going to be winging it for the most part without my map or anything. I'll navigate like the ancient Indians did, by the sun... But, for real, you can pretty much see the ship from several places in town...
OSJ is a great place to spend a day. We would always choose a beach but with no great beach option here wandering the old city eating and drinking is great for us. We missed out on the Bacardi tour due to Covid. We will hit that up next time we are there. Enjoy the day. SPF 30 is your friend.

We could also grab the ship's WiFi from the water's edge. Didn't have to pay for the sketchy shore side WiFi. That was a bonus.

Good early morning. I’m getting ready to head to New Orleans for the Saints game.
I missed the last game due to a little misunderstanding with work over vacation time. I had to cancel that trip to save this cruise. It turned out I was right. I had the time for both. By the time they figured that out, my tickets were gone. I was able to get one of the giveaways from that game on eBay. It was a smaller version of a poster that hung on my wall as a kid. …actually the original is still on my wall. But it’s in a frame now.
I purposely booked a hotel near the river this trip to knock out a hotel review near the port that I haven’t been to yet. And I got a good deal on it. $107 after taxes and fees for the Hampton Inn New Orleans Convention Center on Hotwire. Pre-covid this hotel had a park and cruise package that included a shuttle to the port. I don’t see it offered on their website anymore. It is just a couple blocks from the Fulton Parking Garage where I have parked for all 9 of my New Orleans cruises.
Normally Carnival Glory will be in port on Sunday and depending on where it’s at in the 5-4-5 schedule, Valor would potentially be in tomorrow. This week neither will be in port. I believe Glory is adjusting its schedule in preparation for a Panama Canal cruise. That one is on my list. Most of them seem to be Nov-Jan for some reason. And I try to avoid cruises that are going to have me out for two Sundays during football season too far in advance.
At the Julia Street port, NCL Breakaway should be in port today. Radiance of the Seas should be in tomorrow
We stayed here for our Glory Cruise and enjoyed it. We walked to the French Quarter with no issues. We did take the shuttle to the port. It's a quick ride.

I submitted our info on behalf of my wife for her girls trip in March on the Freedom about three weeks ago. Just received the confirmation a few days ago. No problem.

The last time we had an aft it was soooo hot back there. Let us know if it's unbearably hot back there. Love the view.

My preference is the Conquest class and then Spirit class. We were on the Magic at capacity in April and it was so crowded everywhere. We are debating the Celebration in 2024 but that's still up in the air.

Our cove on the Magic was wet, and I mean wet, for the first 4 days of our cruise. We also had cleaning going on above us and had whatever was being washed off onto our balcony. The last few sea days were ok. I'd have to think about doing that again.

They make it difficult to get outside. I know it’s a port day morning but this was blocked off yesterday afternoon s well.
It said go to the red frog which is also blocked off.
okay now go to the piano bar. Btw the piano bar is the other direction.
finally. They do have that rope and sign at the ready though. Those doors were roped off every day in April with the exception of embarkation day.

Our dining experiences on the Magic back in April were terrible. The ship just seemed way too crowded and the dining was always average and disjointed. I hope it's better for you.

I made a booking error choosing our cabin on our April Magic cruise. It was a connecting room. We could hear them talking, heard their TV. Thankfully they were older and not super loud. I will be much more careful booking the next one. Was a rookie move on my part.

The Conquest Class is also our favorite class of ships. The vibe on short cruises is definitely different than longer cruises. Everyone crams a lot of partying into a short period of time. Thanks for doing this again. Always love reading your adventures here and on the gram.

We like Conquest class ships the best. Second to us would be spirit class ships. We just did the Magic and the ship seemed always crowded and congested. Didn't like having to walk through the smokey casino if you wanted to get to the shops.

We ate at the Italian place right at the gum wall. It was very old school. Crisp white tablecloths and the food was good. The arancini was excellent.

We enjoyed sailing on the Glory out of New Orleans. Such an easy embarkation and debarkation. Eating and drinking in New Orleans didn't stink either. Look forward to your next adventure.
