I demand to hear from all of those losing the interest in cruising once cruising returns

Ya, I can imagine that being the wife and I.  We'll be one of the first 'out the gate' when cruising resumes.  We will have very low expectations, and won't be surprised if even those aren't met....figure we'll either be pleasantly surprised or it'll just reinforce that fact that our cruising days are in the rear view mirror.

More like getting my hopes and dreams dashed than an addiction for me.  Had a TP in mind after several TAs, as well as an Antarctica, Panama Canal and Singapore to Hong Kong.  Alas, won't be anytime soon.  I'm lucky if I get to go around the block on a good day.

After experiencing cruising the way it was, not sure I want to dive into the way it will be, as it will unlikely resemble the past.  I'll just have to remind myself how fortunate I was to have known the Pre-CV-19 cruising life and call it a day.  The transition from seawoman to landlubber won't be an easy one.

Well stated.  Having been what I consider a cruise 'addict' (5-6/yr), I too remind myself how blessed we were to enjoy the overall experience of a cruise.  Met great people and had great times.

Just trying to envision what a cruise will look like doesn't excite me in the least:  masks, fear-mongering, social distancing, vaccine, etc. etc....sounds more like a nightmare vacation to me.

I really hope that between the face shields and everyone treating each other like lepers, getting to know crew and making conversation isn't a casualty. I feel as though when the crew are away from home for so long, it helps them to form relationships with guests as well.

Face shields and cruising...now doesn't that sound like a dream vacation.

It's easy to say "re-buy".  It's more difficult to say at what price.  Is it $35, $25, or lower than that?

Exactly.  And if you find yourself coming to CC for investment advice.....

I don't understand why some people keep mentioning reducing food waste at the buffet over and over again as if it is such a huge problem. Everything about cruising is an indulgence. What about the carbon footprint of cruising. Why focus on the food? There always seems to be plenty to go around.

Oh great....moving the thread to a ‘carbon footprint’ discussion. Next up:  ‘Should smoking be allowed in the casino’.

  6. RCCL used to do double pts on slots on sea days (I recall from 10am-noon, but not sure on that).  They discontinued that a while back (couple yrs ago or better)...I sure miss that perk, as it certainly helped in reaching point goals for this 'cheap' gambler lol.

  7. Calling the Consulate in the Bahamas will get you the answer from people who are paid to know the answer to this question.  Answers on CC, as you have noticed, vary from 'random guesses' to somewhat knowledgeable 'guesses'.

Hi! I am going on a cruise to the Bahamas in August. The dates are Aug. 11-18, and something really big came up for work the weekend of Aug. 16-18. I want to disembark early and take a flight from the Bahamas to NYC on either Aug. 15 or Aug. 16. I've contacted Norweigan and said there is nothing they can do to help me with this; I can technically leave early but may receive a fine for approximately $800. I was wondering if anyone has ever done this. Also, is there some higher authority I can contact to see if I can disembark without receiving a fine. I am also nervous that I will be held at the airport, too, for leaving early for questioning (not sure if I'm just thinking of every possibility), and when I disembark early, can I take my luggage with me or does it have to stay with the remaining guests going on the cruise with me? Thanks so much! Any and all advice will help 🙂

  9. I'll be taking IOS this thurs, and have purchased the $1k table-chip gig.  Have been promised by Casino Royal (by 2 separate reps) that I will be given 1K in 'real' chips, $75 in 'promo' chips, and a $10 lottery ticket.  Also been promised that the 1K can be cashed in at any time.

I'll will provide the 'how-it-really-works' process when I return home.
