  1. What a pain in the butt this was for me.

First, Royal moves us from Enchantment to Brilliance and puts us in a Guarantee. I called Friday evening 8/12. Rep has no clue why they did it because we paid extra to book a cabin. Rep fixes and chooses a cabin. She sends confirmation. Confirmation shows a price higher. I decide to wait until 8/18 because they said by 8/18 the price would be matched.

Yesterday, I log in and see they’ve moved the cabins again. What?!?! One on Deck 3 and another on Deck 2 Accessible cabin. No one chose an accessible cabin? And being an April Alaska sailing will have people who do need it, why is someone who is a senior but not unable to handle a regular cabin in it?! I then noticed the price is still wrong on that cabin. I then check my cabin. The price is showing I owe $1800 more than I do.

Needless to say there is absolutely zero rhyme or reason how they do this. And there’s zero rhyme or reason to how they were to “price protect.”

I told the Rep, listen, I have never cruised RCI but I’ve cruised other cruise lines. And Have traveled all over the world and this legitimately might be one of the most frustrating things I’ve experienced. Two hours on the phone yesterday between two calls!!

Wait until the price adjustment happens within the next few days then call back (make sure to call the redeployment line) and get them to add any OBC that you originally had.  Any OBC should definitely carry over however it has to be done manually.  If you get pushback escalate to resolutions

But I had no OBC. No reason to call unless 8/18 comes and my login still shows me on a Transatlantic cruise.

I don't think that anyone can see actual cabin inventory right now.  Most categories show as closed.

This seems to be the case for the Enchantment to Brilliance switch. You can’t see the April 30 TA when searching but my now Brilliance Alaska 4/30-5/7 cruise is showing as a 15 day Enchantment TA at my login.

And someone mentioned issues with invoices. When I booked my Alaska cruise two weeks ago I did not get an invoice for either cabin. Just deposit payment confirmation. I had to call and ask.

Is that in November? That’s what mine shows and I was scheduled for September 24, 2023 to Hawaii.  I was told that they weren’t doing that just Alaska then going to Australia with no passengers. Mine now shows 10 day November 8-18 in Australia.
while they say they aren’t doing Hawaii the website does show Brilliance going to Hawaii Sept 24-Oct 4.

No- it shows the April 30 TA from NJ to Rome. I should eventually be switched over to April 30 Brilliance from Vancouver.

  5. Their entertainment is awful. I just got off Conquest yesterday and I've seen better performers at the local amusement park ranked up as one of the best. So many flat notes and just cheesy. I never was bothered by the shows before but it's the SAME stuff in other activities. I did MSC in Europe last year and the shows were great. The fact they can get Cirque to partner and handle their new shows on a ship up and coming? Why can't carnival??

  6. Currently on it and get off in the morning. However, cruise director changes tomorrow so my guess is they will change it up. Current CD is a history buff and has done talks on D-Day and Titanic etc. I've never seen that before. Lots of trivia. More than I remembered. However, new cruise director is on tomorrow. And looks like new show entertainers too.

  7. That tropical wave should hit lesser Antilles by Sunday/Monday. I'm interested to see how it affects conquest sailing of grand Turk/la romana and then to Bonaire/Aruba.

CruisePsychRN- good idea. After I had the Mediterranean cyclone on Divina last fall I realized I'm taking it this trip. I was sicker than a dog with a broken foot on a knee scooter. Everyone kept trying to grab me before I retired to the room bc I was rolling one way and ship another.

  8. Europe is exhausting whether or not you're on a cruise. IMO Europe is more exhausting when you're on a cruise because you're waking up at 5-5:30 for a 7 am arrival to shower, eat and go. Since cruise ports aren't necessarily near the actual intended city it can make for a long day. Compared to the land trips, your days feel exhaustingly long on the cruise. You'll enjoy an extra sea day.

  9. It is what it is. There are still many ships in the sea and European ports don't seem to take as many ships at a time as the Caribbean does. Plus, the day you were scheduled somewhere may be occupied by other ships on an already decided itinerary. Better to be safe than sorry. I was on a cruise last year to call on Tunisia but we had it replaced with Greece.

  10. I head out next Saturday 9/3 out of Ft Lauderdale towards the southern Caribbean and I decided to just ignore weather. I experienced a cyclone in the Mediterranean last fall and stopped taking seasickness meds my second cruise. My best recommendation is if you are prone to motion sickness on small boats that if waters are rough- take it. I definitely needed it with those seas!

  11. So last fall, I broke my foot two days prior to flying to Rome for a MSC cruise. I ended up casted to my knee with zero weight bearing. We had two days in Rome prior to the cruise departing. I'm gonna be honest- it's gonna be rough. I was on a knee scooter and the Vatican was the WORST experience of my life on a mobility device. The rest of Rome was rough for me but the Vatican was terrible. I was in pain from the break but the cobblestone is terrible. I was 31, physically fit, and I had to be grabbed on multiple times from not face planting on cobblestone in Rome. If you've never been there it's going to take you much longer to push, so definitely make the allotted time longer you need to get places.. I'm not sure how the scooter would travel or where you'd charge but a wheelchair will be tough certainly compared to a scooter. But please, please, please make sure if you do use one to make sure someone is there next to her constantly. It's obviously an old city, but it is so uneven and deep crevices that she could fall and do damage. Coliseum has elevators if she can make her way to the actual coliseum okay and walk around. Are you doing a DIY tour? Or spending a few days? If only doing one day as a cruise stop I'd recommend a private tour bc they will drive to the important sights/sites and no necessary need for assisted device if she can handle walking some. Had I not been to Rome before I would have been so sad. I literally sat outside the Vatican and St Peter's Basillica because the cobblestone did me in. The other cities were doable but certainly not what we are used to when thinking of disability.
