Finally got the status match. I sail in basically 29 days. I wish they had done this before i booked this cruise for the 5% discount but it'll be there next time. Already discussing a northern baltics cruise for 2017 of some sort, if they offer anything that way.

Be aware that if you link dining arrangements then that will commit you to ALL having the same drinks package if you opt for one of the All Inclusive packages, such as, the Allegrissimo; Allegrissimo Classic or Allegissimo premium., or NO drinks packages at all except voucher based packages.
Quote from the T&Cs of the All inclusive drinks packages
Pete
None of us are doing drinks packages.

reservations for dining purposes with another cabin? I reached out to the person at MSC, who's been looking into Status Match for me (as to why it's taken almost one month!), but they've not yet responded back to my question about linking reservations for dining purposes. If you have done it, what do they need on their end to link reservations? A booking #? A cabin?

Note- I spoke w/ Avis and for a Mercedes GLA (automatic) the SuperCoverage (it reduces excess liability from 1500 euro to 0 euro) is 25,5 euro per day. Cheaper than Hertz and for peace of mind, much easier to do through the company than secondary!
-
Thanks, John.
I do want total peace of mind and I know Hertz lists the costs as 40€, which isn't the best but it's not horrible for total peace of mind. We are splitting the cost of the car with someone else for the day so it's no big deal on that. I saw Avis listing costs but it's not very helpful. I may reach out to their number.

What did your actual time in Cannes show like? We show as 10:30 to 19:00? If you were that time scheduled on brochures, were you allowed off earlier? Thanks!

I hadn't heard anything either so I called. They said they were in a backlog due to the demand. They gave me an email address and asked me to email them to follow up. 2 days later I received an e-mail with my "Black" status letter attached. The email address is: mscclubusa@msccruisesusa.com
Once I got the email I contacted my TA and got the 5% discount applied.
Good Luck!
Thanks. Just tried to resend to that email. I had someone at MSC reaching out to contact the department to find out what is going on because the MSC rep said it should have definitely been done by now even with the backlog.

Did you get a little message box that said it would take 2-3 business days to click on after submitting? I don't recall that happening the first time I submitted my request, but I got that box the 2nd time.
Here's to you getting the good news today :D
I emailed the form because the website doesn't work for me.
-
I re-submitted my form yesterday & got an answer today! Status Matched to Silver. :)
So if you haven't heard back on your Status Match application, I guess you can submit it again.
Sigh. I resubmitted on 8/16 and nothing. I have a cruise in four weeks and was hoping to have this sorted out but apparently it'll be a dog and pony show.

They have yet to do mine and I submitted 8/2.

One problem particular to Italy is the mandatory theft insurance which may or may not be included in whatever coverage you get. Before you make a reservation, be sure to verify that with a representative. I have had it almost doubling the quoted price.
Yup. Basic CDW/Theft is included in the quote. It's the additional super ones I was looking at pricing.
The consolidator required three days.
-
I've looked at standalone excess policies but forbid something happen I don't want to deal with a secondary. I would prefer train travel but it's not possible. Lol.
I may rent from hertz because they list their super CDW fees, whereas, Avis is a total unknown. They're who I generally prefer here in the U.S. Too.
-
I've searched threads, but I haven't found much information regarding Super CDW, which seems to lessen your liability from x to either substantially less in excess or $0. However, other than Hertz, I cannot seem to locate these "fees" for companies like Budget, Avis. Has anyone had experience with these companies while traveling/renting in Italy?
We are renting a car for a 24 hour period as we are going from Florence to a very small town around 2.5 hours north for an entire day/evening Train travel is unfortunately not an option for the destination.
This is the last thing I need to nail down before we leave in 33 days and it's causing the most anxiety! :(

As I'm USD, is there a euro pricing for all of the book able pre-payable items packages? I just wanted to compare how much of a difference it is if I pre-book/wait. As its $35 prebook for Allegrissmo or 29.9€, which is probably going to be around $33-33.50 at this rate in USD. So no difference I guess.

I've generally always had my alcohol taken away from me in the Caribbean. In the Med? No one cared. I was brining 3-4 bottles back with me and no one even looked.
That being said, I've yet to drink most of it two years later. Lol
-
I personally can drink the 18 drinks for $84. That's less than 2 per day. There are friends who can drink too (six of us traveling, two don't drink; however, two cannot drink red/rosé). It translates to about $4.66 a drink, which is pretty cheap for a glass of wine in USD. Pricier for a beer depending on what they have on draft. It doesn't sound like the wine packages would be beneficial to me if they pick for you. What about the service fee if I pre-pay? Do I pay when I order the drink (ie I do the card)?
-
The All-Inclusive won't work because there's people in my cabin who cannot medically drink. So, it appears there's the following options available:
$60 USD- 5 bottles of house-brand wine (white, red and rosé - wine brands are subject of current availability). Vouchers can be consumed only in main restaurants. THIS TREATMENT IS RESERVED EXCLUSIVELY FOR AMERICAN "ALBATOURST" PASSENGERS ON CRUISES IN EUROPE AND EURO AREAS
$84 USD- Beverage card for 18 consumptions, valid for alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages including wine by the glass (white, red, rosé and sparkling chosen from the “Allegrissimo Selection”), draft beer, soft drinks, mineral water, hot drinks and a wide selection of drinks and cocktails from the bar list, as well as take away ice- cream in a cone or cup. The drinks not covered by the package are indicated by an asterisk.
I personally cannot drink red/rosé wine (severe reaction to it), so I am assuming they pick your bottles for the wine packages? Or do you get to pick them? Also, if I pre-book these packages in USD vs booking onboard in Euro, do I pay a 15% service fee ahead of time or when I get each individual drink or bottle from the package?
Thanks!

I never take fancy, schmancy dresses like I would to the Caribbean to fhe med. I just use my costume jewelry to fancy up a basic dress I can wear down. I'm already going to have to pack for two seasons for my upcoming Med cruise!!

Thanks! I sail 26 September and I'm glad to see someone positive! I am rather looking forward to meals because I spend so much time analyzing my food before I eat it (severe food allergies) that having someone be able to prepare it knowing what they are...is a vacation in itself. I'm the easiest person to please food wise: chicken and I'm good to go.

I see by your signature you've done a lot of carnival cruises, what made you try msc? I'm only curious because I have recently switched over from ncl
I wanted to go to Europe this year and Carnival didn't offer any sailings. I didn't like the itineraries on the other U.S. "Mainstream" lines and had met a bunch of Americans in 2013 when I sailed in the Med on Carnival, who said they were enjoys their trip. I look at cruises purely as a vessel to get where I'm going. I don't care too much about the actual experience. However, I will say I am impressed with how quickly and efficiently MSC handled my food allergy alert seaside. It was less than 48 hours.
-
I haven't heard anything back yet and it's two weeks tomorrow. We leave for a MSC sailing in the Med 9/23.
-
TA's have personal opinions and opinions that pad their pockets. I've had people tell me not to sail a particular cruise line and I've done it 12 times and not had an issue.
-
Are tickets on sale for September yet?
-
Their numbers must be sucking because I have the most annoying guy continually emailing me and just called me. Sternly told him again to NOT call me because I'm not interested as I have a travel agent. If it continues, I'll lose my cool. I'm in sales- once someone tells you twice NO- you're not too bright to continue to call.
