  1. I'll chime in, here, if I may. We've cruise around the ABC islands a couple of times, and it's usually pretty good sailing, but you just never know from week to week what the winds and waves might be like. I also have bad motion sickness, so I use Bonine throughout my cruises. I start the night before we get on board, and take another pill the afternoon we sail, then usually every evening. Sometimes I've even taken one every 12 hours instead of 24 if it's rougher seas. I hope you will have good luck with your sailing, but it is best to be prepared. I also bring along ginger capsules to settle my stomach, if necessary.

    Thank you.

I'm from the UK and we don't have Bonine. Can you buy it on board?

I'm planning on getting the patches from my doctor and also bringing wrist bands.

  2. Hello, I will be on this exact cruise in 4 weeks. My first ever cruise.

Can you tell me what the seas were like please?

I suffer really bad travel sickness and yesterday diagnosed with Vertigo - which I think I am suffering because I'm worrying about getting travel sick on the cruise... Body's ey?! I will be taking all precautions but I'd love to know what the motion is like at the moment?

    Thank you.

  3. Hello!

I have just found out about this and have emailed a company. Would absolutely love to do it!

    Has anyone done it?

What are your experiences? How much was it? Can you rent by the hour?

    Thank you!

  4. Hello! We dock at Castries in April. Does anyone know of any excursions where they do massage on the beach? I saw this on another island but can't find here as yet. Thank you :)

  5. You should research the ports ahead of time and also consult with your fellow cruisers on the roll-call thread. Don't rely on the sales pitches (with a bit of info) that will come to your cabin.

I have done this. And booked the excursion we want. But on some ports we have a few options so will decide as we go.

  6. Hello!

My friend travelled with RCI years ago and said that back then, an itinerary of the next day would be put in your cabin so you can see exactly whats happening the following day. Is this still happening? If so, is it just about the ship or port information too?

    Thank you!

  7. The Trikes tour in Aruba is a wonderful, fun way to explore the island & if you have time you can go to Palm Beach before or after your tour.

The Twizie tour in Bonaire is a blast & Hans is a great guide.

Grand Anse Beach is nice in Grenada.

Hands down the best excursion we have ever done is Calabaza in Barbados! Book early!!!

If you have never been to St. Lucia I would suggest a land/sea tour (we have gone with Spencer Ambrose & Herod) although the ziplining is great as is Mystic Man's Eco Adventure tour.

The Excellence catamaran in Antigua is way too much fun & Pineapple Resort offers a great day pass option.

Great itinerary & so many excursion options!

    Thanks so much!!

How strange, we have just booked Calabaza for Barbados - can't wait!!!

  8. With all respect, you aren't getting off the hook that easily. You likely will be flying when you visit those islands either by cruise ship or resort stays..... fly to Texas suggested. :) :)

Aha thank you - but we fly to Florida to cruise then fly straight home after. No time to stay on because we are back for work! :)

  9. Hello,

    Does anyone know if there are any water parks (with big slides) on any of the following islands;

Aruba, Bonaire, Grenada, St Lucia, Barbados or Antigua?

My husband and I are waterpark mad and would love to go on our first cruise!

    Thank you :)

  10. We have just come back from the Caribbean with P and O. Everything on board ship gets put on a card, we use a credit card so that we can easily keep track of finances. Don't usually use a credit card at home so it keeps the payments separate and if anything happened to your card, no-one can empty your bank account, You can pre-pay excursions. You can mooch around quite happily without spending any money , it is pleasant to spend but not compulsory. You can always draw more money from an ATM or you might find you can get it on board (p and O do this). A major difference is that Brits always have holiday insurance, so not so much need for emergency cash. We didn't spend anything near the amounts that people have quoted to you. Don't bother with Euros, unless you happen to have some put by.

    Thank you!!

This thread has got carried away with an argument about cards!

    Are you from the UK?

I just wanted a general idea of how much people spend! We just want a relaxing break, mainly at beaches but with the possibility of an excursion or 2 within our spending money.

All I wanted to know was that generally, you don't actually need to spend, which is what you've answered so thank you!

  11. Wait a minute!! You say in the first sentence " you don't need a credit card" but then admit that YES you do have one for a back up! Yes exactly and that is EXACTLY why when visiting far far from home you have a credit card!

Woah, it WASNT me who said I didn't, it was Kim who said she never has?

  12. Good for you but a foreign traveler far far from home without a source of emergency funds is asking for trouble! Why not be safe than sorry. US hotels have a huge issue with debit cards.... I'm glad it works for you, but I can't imagine going to a foreign country and not having the resources to buy a plane ticket home.

Oh I will bring it, but I will put it in the safe with the hope we don't need it.

  13. You DON'T need a credit card, you can use a Visa card WITHOUT credit.

I have never had a credit card in my life and I have never needed it.

As you can tell by my signature, I have been to a lot of Islands in the caribbean. We use mostly cash and use the Visa card as a backup.

Plan your trip and it will save you money, we never book ship excursions.

Always local companys or just walk, get a cab or take the local bus to a beach.

Thanks Kim! That's exactly what we were planning on doing - thank you.

How much do you normally take? We will mainly be walking/taxi to beaches and possibly 1 excursion. 12 days.

    Thanks, Sophie

  14. Hello,

I was wondering if someone could tell me about the entertainment on RCI but most specifically, Serenade of the seas.

What are the shows like? I see they do some West End (Which I love), how frequent are these and what kind of thing?

Also, in the cinema, how regularly do films play and are they first run from American blockbusters?

    Thank you :)

  15. If you are going to use a credit card or debit card on shore, anywhere not in the UK, make sure you call your credit card company and tell them where you may be using it. Otherwise they may not accept it in a foreign country and you won't be able to use it for anything.

    Thank you all!

    Will do...

My main question is about how much we will need...

if say we had 750 dollars with a credit card back up, not planning on doing more then 1-2 excursions and mainly DIY at ports, do you think that's enough??
